    - On the 7 (not X) only 6 data screens are available.
    - You can change the map color on the Epix (automatic night / day, contrast mode, manual dark, manual light)

      Thank you for the info about data field on the non X model.
      Also thank you about the map, I just found it and it work, I can now have a white map.
      I really think they put the black one by default to save battery life however.

      Exactly. The white color drains battery on amoled screen. The black is more power safe.

    I upgraded from the fenix 6X to the Epix 2 and got 8 days out of the battery, including 1.5 hours of indoor and GPS activities per day, this was with screen off, gesture on, GPS only, maps in dark mode.
    The Epix screen is gorgeous to look at, very sharp, hi res and with lots of detail.
    However I felt like whenever I touched it I was using up more battery with the screen on.
    I decided to return it and got the fenix 7X SS instead.
    After 1 week I am at just over 50% doing the same activities, so essentially double the battery.
    The 7X screen is crisper and has better contrast than my 6X had, but not as nice as the Epix screen of course.
    But I am happier with the 7X SS not having to think about battery life.

      Unfortunately we can't have everything. I think I still prefet my 7X but using it back for the first time after a week with the epix make me realise how great the Epix 2 screen is awesome.

Where I can get bigger selection of bands? The bands that are compatible with epix 2 on the official website are just few and they suck.

    Upgraded from the Fenix 6x Pro to the Fenix 7 SS and the sceen on the Fenix is definitely "brighter". The screen on the Fenix 7SS is so dim indoors and this even shows in your video how much better the Fenix 6 screen is. The display of your fenix 6 and 7 is the same. The only difference you get here is the screen. Saphire crystal screen are tougher, but not as clear as gorilla glass. As a Garmin user since fenix 2, have to say all the X version are way to big, all the S version are way to small, and all the screens are shit. until Epix 2, is just about the size, and the display is the one I have waited for so many years. you don't have to make the display on always. 16 days battery life is more than just good. Resolution is way more better than Fenix 7 series, so no need to make the watch big. More important, epix 2 is much lighter. As you personally like big watches with Fenix kinda screen, I personally like epix 2 with amoled screen, if you don't like it, you will get used to it.

      @@PascalMarquisUnbox - I purchased a nice titanium Citizen Eco-Drive watch about 8 years ago. I loved never having to worry about battery life, serious scratches on the bezel or the sapphire glass. Until one day I noticed a huge gouge across the face. That’s when I learned that while it was titanium, it didn’t have a sapphire glass. I guess I just assumed it did because of the titanium-I thought they just went hand in hand. I could have probably had the glass replaced, but my wife and I went Apple Watch Series 5 a couple of years ago instead. And while I love the titanium shell and sapphire glass on the Apple Watch, I grew weary of recharging it twice a day. Plus, I wanted a golf watch.
      My new Epix Gen 2 titanium and sapphire watch will be delivered tomorrow. Oh, and I’m also tired of my laser range finder not being able to pick up on the flag. Golf’s about to get so much more fun!

    • @dannymcneal
      @dannymcneal ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ur outrdriven - Oh my goodness! The sapphire screen is perfect, WAY more robust than my previous Apple Watch Edition with Titanium shell and Sapphire display. Apple might call it “sapphire,” but it’s definitely of lower quality, because i could see micro scratches on it. Garmin seems to have gotten it right. My display is incredible, and I would expect that not to change, like, ever!

    • @dannymcneal
      @dannymcneal ปีที่แล้ว

      @ur outrdriven - My advice: If you’re, say, a spelunker, and have a tendency to hit the face of the watch against the sharp protrusions found on a cave wall, then perhaps a robust screen protector could help to lessen the shock to the sapphire. Because while sapphire is EXTREMELY resistant to scratches (good luck trying to scratch it), banging the face of the watch repeatedly against a hard-rock surface could result in a crack.
      I bought my Epix Gen 2 to replace my Apple Watch Series V (titanium and sapphire), but I wasn’t impressed with the Apple Watch Ultra’s anemic battery life enough to buy one, even with the 60-hour update. The most exciting features for me with the Gen 2 are the preloaded golf courses, as well as being able to tap into both L1 and L5 satellite bands in multi-satellite mode-a.c.c.u.r.a.t.e!! And the biggest question I could answer is: Would I buy this same watch again? Absolutely! I did debate between the Gen 2 and the Fenix 7, and the Gen 2 won out due to its very bright and clear AMOLED display. Sure, the Fenix 7’s battery lasts longer, but coming from an Apple Watch that required me to charge it twice a day (if you’re very active, it uses up a lot more battery), 14 to 16 days of battery life with the Gen 2 seemed like forever. Good luck!

    • @dannymcneal
      @dannymcneal ปีที่แล้ว

      @ur outrdriven - You’re very welcome! Yes, I disabled “always on” mode, which increased battery life from about 6 days to 16 days. Then I continued fiddling with the settings and somehow ended up with 14 days of battery life. And I haven’t been able to figure out what setting I changed to bump it back up to 16 days. Eventually I may stumble upon that setting, but in the meantime, 14 days is nothing to sneeze at, and I’m VERY happy with the watch. Regarding the “always on” setting, really, when I’m not looking at the watch, there’s no need for it to be displaying the screen and using battery needlessly. And it’s so responsive to my wrist twist, it’s almost like it’s in “always on” mode. Hope this helped!
