A little gem in the Coromandel Opito bay

  • While staying at Kuaotunu I took the boys to a special place that I had fished many years ago, it wasn't to fish but the white sand and crystal clear waters make it very inviting for a deep in the sea. Only a 10min ride we headed off up over the black jacks towards Opito bay, passing another beautiful piece of Coro (Otama) we carried on over the hills.
Arriving at our own little piece of paradise at Opito bay, it was togs on and straight in for a nice cool down in the clear water. It's such a beautiful place and one that needs to be seen with your own eyes - another great place to take the kids when on holiday....

Thank you for a trip down memory lane. I grew up here many years ago. Spent my weekends riding the horses, helping on the farm, swimming. They've even tarsealed the road 😁

You are in paradise and a great place to bring the kids up kiwi styles - I haven't been there for many years but use to do my fishing trips with the boys to Kuaotunu and launch off Opito bay or walk the right hand side rocks for a fish back in the late 80's early 90's...just love that place

Great to see you and your family Jason. A lot of my childhood was spent at Kuatotunu. My 82 year old aunt still lives in a bach there. Cheers Delwyn (ex Browns Bay postie)
