Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the Bulova Accutron II Surveyor ref. 96B213 watch new for 2014 with a highly accurate Precisionist quartz movement inside of it. It lacks the typical tuning fork movement in replacement for the quartz movement. The sweeping seconds hand is accurate to about 5 to 10 seconds a year. It has a steel case and attractive symmetrical dial.

One of Bulova’s very best. Clean, simple, sweeping and accurate; all in a brilliant proprietary movement.
just got this in 2024. a flawless pre-owned. still up to date design in my opinion
Interesting concept, I really enjoyed the history of the movement, even if I am not that keen on the watch.
The Urban Gentry I ended up buying the blue dialled version of this...
Definitely going to get one of these. I have a collection of their vintage Accutrons and would love one of these.
really like the blue one. did you get one?
Richard Stevens I haven't yet. I like their Snorkels though. I'd always prefer the vintage ones, but if I ever found one of these Accutron IIs for around $100-$120, I'll probably buy it.
Great breakdown of the movement updates!
Thank you Mr. Adams! An outstanding review as usual. I was unaware that there was a Precisionist 2 movement. I think this watch with the Precisionist 2 movement will be a hit with collectors! ....God bless, Bob
this is gotta be the most beautiful movement ive ever seen thats so precise and affordable. 👍
Accuracy is actually +/-10 seconds a year. Pretty Impressive
10 years later what do you think? Do you still have it?
Have one of these. Got it for $200. Very accurate! In fact only a Seiko Kinetic I have runs anywhere near as accurate. About a second a month off compared to WWV shortwave time signals (10Mhz) from Colorado.
Hi I just bought one of these, it seems very light towards the accutron alpha 11 which I have. I can hardly feel it on my arm. Should that be the case. Great blog by the way
Love the second hand, but wish it had Arabic numbers on the face and a metal band for the wrist!
Thanks for the view.
I have always wondered, does Ariel Adams drive an Ariel Atom?
He doesn't even understand what "sweeping" means in respect to a seconds hand!
May I know where can i buy this?
Is the watch face white or silver...hard to tell!
White.... Face dial of the watch is of white.....
What size is this?
fabulous watch!!!!! though take precisionist quartz move but maintain small and thin... great.
It's a nice looking watch.
Do anyone know the lug to lug (height of the watch).
Bravo! It was great explanation 👍
Is this a dress watch??
Weight?
Trust me when I say, the battery does NOT last two years. I've changed the battery twice in less than 2 years.
mine is still running and its been over 2years
They should release this again. Was this a Swiss brand with this movement,it would cost 4k usd(Just cause they can). And journalists would be going Gaga over the ' new Swiss technology'.
These retro styles don't work without the convex dials and domed crystals, which gave the watch aesthetic movement. These somewhat austere styles look dull with flat dials and crystals.
Very nice!
I am a bit dissapointed that it doesn't have a tuning fork movement.
that would have made the cost a lot higher
I know. I like the watch anyway. And I would buy it , even without the tuning fork movement.
MrPleers I have bought the 96B212 the blue dial, really nice
MrPleers The watchden have pretty good deals, if make an offer on ebay, try to get it below £200
15 seconds per month is nothing to get excited about. A generic quartz ETA is accurate to about 6 seconds per month. A modern Rolex automatic boasts the same accuracy as their original "Accutron".
Arthur Serino - Bulova claims accuracy of Accutron II of 6 seconds per month.
Eliminate the date, add 3-6-9 numerals and the watch would be Perfect.
Yes, giving the watch a similar look to the Explorer 1. They would sell like hot cakes :-)
Nice
Let me go sell a kidney real quick so I can afford this watch. Brb.
Yes I buy =
If anyone is selling one of these let me know
Lume is terrible on this watch
thank you. very good! BULOVA..... wrong.... NO WAY..... SHAME ON YOU BULOVA.
You don't even understand what "sweeping" means in respect to a seconds hand!
Please elaborate "expert".
