Have watch numerous shed building videos, and by far your video is easiest explained. I’m in construction and like to watch how others do things and you are by far the best one. I’ll be starting my shed next week, 8 x 12.
@Young Grampz yes the kit was 1400 with cheap wood not including the roofing and siding or paint. Assembled was $2600. I’ve never built anything in my life but with a little patience and a lot of TH-cam I got it done lol
I am contemplating building my own shed. Your videos are very informative. I lost my 28 ×50 shed in Hurricane Ida. I have a huge empty slab to build on. Although I will not be putting up another one that big. I am looking to put up something for storage. Maybe just a bit bigger than what you built in this series of videos. Enjoyed the videos
Thanks so much, I'm glad you found them helpful! Sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how devastating that is. I hope this series serves you well and you get it rebuilt! Good luck
My dude, you inspired me to build a shed and I've got the walls up watching your framing video. This video for the roof is timely as I'm on to the roof. Cheers from Australia.
Enjoy every moment you have with your dad, I’m building a shed now and would give anything to do it with my dad. Great video and keep it up you’ll be successful on TH-cam. God bless and great job 👏
I do. I'm sorry you can't anymore but I'm sure you have many great memories with him. I'm trying to be successful, still many more things I want to help people with, so I'll keep at it. Thanks for reaching out and take care
Hi Jesse! Just viewed this series this past week and I love the videos. I'm using your videos to build a water shed for a 500 gal. tank. Your plan is simple, straight forward, and answers some questions I had while figuring out the best way for me to build with the same roof design. I like the good solid construction and your tips which will make it much easier. Thank you!
That's awesome, glad to hear it! I tried to answer questions that I thought people would have in the videos and I'm happy you found them useful. Thanks for sharing
In a shed roof like this it's as simple as laying a first rafter in place, making sure your overhang is where you want it and sliding a 1x scrap block up next to your rafter and striking a line. Then mark the vertical inside and outside the top plate on both the front wall end and back wall end. Cut it out and that's your birds mouth. No measuring or math.
I just finished watching the series. Congrats you did a great job. I learned to do it 40 years ago. But I have no done it on the 14 years that I live on Germany but I'm about to start a project on my back yard and I needed a reminder. This was just what I needed. Thanks
The guy is very expressive and the way he explains the procedure step by step, is more than clear enough. It's easy to follow him. Thanks very much man.
your how to 16 on center video started me on my moveable shed. Ive got 3 walls up now. a Lil crooked, but its my very first time in my life I tried to build something. So i'm going to see how you do the roof with this video. Thanks bro.
I was skeptical to make this a diy projects but after seeing your videos it gave me confidence. Thanks 🙏 . Since I need a shed i will give a try and make it my self.
Hi there from Taupo New Zealand, just watched all 4 videos of you building your shed, bloody well done and cheers as ive been wanting to get a shed for a while and something like this will be perfect. Awesome mate and thanks for your help
I am workink on one with my son. The design is different than yours but the principles are useful and helpful. Thank you Jesse. Your videos are staigh forward and very helpful.
Hey! That's so awesome, I'm happy I could help! I love hearing from people all over so thanks for reaching out. Good luck on your shed and I'd love to see it when it's done if you send me some pics!
That's awesome! I'm glad I could help out. Good luck on yours and keep me posted! Feel free to email me some pics when you're done and I'll share them with the community, have fun
No prob, glad you like it. Unfortunately I can't as I need somewhere to build it and somebody to build it for. But you can just make the door opening larger and make 2 smaller doors to fit into the opening, that's all
I have watched all 4 and going watch 5 next. I need this building built over my pump and tank. I live in SC and I know I need to have it insulated. I have watched dozens of shed builds and gargage builds and yours is what I need and you are so good at simplifing the instructions. If I may ask considering this is one year past your build what was your estimated cost of lumber and materials. I know I need to take in consideration that prices are higher but it will give me a starting point. Thank you and I must say you and your dad are twins and I think that is so sweet.
That's awesome, I'm glad I could help! I really tried to make it approachable for everybody to build. At the time the whole project was about $1700 in my area and that was with the high inflated covid pricing 2 years ago. At least here it's come down a bit since then and would be slightly less to build today. Yeah, we get that a lot that we are alike lol. Hope that helps, good luck on yours!
thanks for this series. hubby and i are going to try and follow this but we are going to make changes in order to make a bird coop with aviary.... hoping to extend the roof out for an aviary enclosure. wish us luck!
Cool stuff, thank you. I wonder if cutting kind of a rabbet into the trusses where they sit on the top plates would give it more stability especially against any tension that wants to push the roof parallel to its slope, like snow or something.
Thanks. Yeah it's called a birds mouth cut. You could if you want, but honestly with a shed roof it isn't necessary, just more math and angles. Once the whole thing is built and fastened down it becomes quite the sturdy piece
I have a cabin in northern Wisconsin and sheltering firewood is a necessity. I'm going to follow these videos to build a shed like this myself. Portable shed builders get paid handsomely for a small shed like this. Thanks for the videos can't wait to build mine this spring. Do you have a video for a firewood shed this size or maybe a 10x12? Thanks
I'm glad you liked it. I have a small separate firewood shed video, but not big enough like you want. That and this are the only 2 shed videos I have currently. Good luck on yours
Anytime, glad you liked them. Well a greenhouse would be built slightly different and use a clear paneling for the walls. But if you wanted to use this, you would frame the walls similar to the door everywhere you want a window. Make a header for them, and use jack and kind studs. Cut the holes in the osb after it's installed on the wall framing, then set in and screw the windows in place, caulk the outsides
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Unfortunately no, I never got any footage of it at all, too much of a rush to beat the snow. And I haven't had a chance to film it anywhere else since. But there are plenty of shingle how to's out there, so I prioritized the roof structure. Good luck on yours!
Great series I'm gonna build a 12x12 work shed for my tools and stuff and I'll be able to work on my 4 wheelers in it instead of in the dirt 😂 I'm also going to wall the inside and put shelves
Thanks! That's awesome! It should work perfectly for that! I'm glad I could help. Good luck on yours, keep me posted! I'd love to see it when it's done
When you shingled the roof what did you use to cap off the shingles at the highest point of the roof,on the lowest point where you started the shingles I assume you used dip edge?
Jessie, I'm building a shed using your plans and watching the video. They are very helpful. I have a question about the angle on the trusses. In the video you say go up 18 inches from the bottom on the front of the shed to put a screw. In the plans it says to go up 14 inches. the studs in the back are 73.5 inches and the front wall studs are 87, so should I use the 14 inches and not the 18? Thanks, I'll send a few pictures of my progress. G. H. Cain
Hi Jesse! Shouldn’t the diagonal brace on the door go the other way? Like from the lower hinge towards the top of the door that opens out. It will stiffen and hold the door better. It’s not a huge door, mind you, so it probably isn’t a major issue!
If it was a structural support, then yes, you are correct. But the OSB sheet is keeping the door square and there is no need for a brace. As I said, I just wanted something in the middle of the door to give the OSB some more strength and to screw to. I was just going to go straight across the middle but the scrap piece I had was longer so I added a slight angle just to maximize surface area
On such a small roof the birdsmouth isn't a complete necessity for lining things up, stability or strength. There isn't a second floor, it won't really be carrying a bunch of weight, and it isnt a massive structural piece with a transom or anything and so to keep it easy for the average DIY'er at home it is ok to just ignore it for simplicity sake. The verticle ends however will be visible to everybody and is easy to do, so why not
Great video bro! Was that an iced Frappuccino that you were sipping on, with a peppermint striped straw, during this video? And hey, we miss the shades that you had on! 1. Do you have the, “buy me a coffee” app? We are definitely investing in to those hurricane ties! Thank you so much for the suggestion. 2. Any tips for shed builds with rafters on both sides? The rise:run:pitch dynamic can be so confusing! We’re thinking of a 7/12(7:12) pitch, 7’ foot rise for extra storage space, because we have an 8’ foot run. What we believe is that leaves us with a little under a 12.5’ long rafters? 3. How long could we make our tail/ease/overhang without causing any structural integrity? 4. Also, we’re scratching our heads about working in some cross-member truss. Any tips for that? Especially since we plan on utilizing the space up there. Once again, thank you so much for your generous help. Do you have a Facebook group for us to join?
Thanks! It was a slurpee lol I don't drink coffee, don't like it. Hurricane ties make a big difference in strength and are mandatory in places. As for the roof rafters on both sides, it is easier if you run a main beam at the height of the roof from front to back, and then rough cut the rafters, stand them in place to the top of the beam and then overhang the wall, use a straight edge to make your marks and then cut them out. I typically like to leave between 6-8" overhang going that way. As for a truss, those are typically engineered and constructed for the size and load needed, can't help you there. You could put up the rafters and then stick build some storage under them once it's complete. I do not yet, social media eludes me, I don't get it lol but there are things I'm looking into going forward!
Good morning Jesse. Allow me one more question; probably the last 2 ones: 1. The trimmers around the corners, do I necessarily should use the thicker planks (1/2, 3/4, etc. OR I can also use the tiny ones; I believe is 3/8 or something like that. 2. The ridge edge, under or over the underlined.
Lol I used thicker because it is sturdier, more resistant to issues, and it's pressure treated. It also gives you a nice shadow line. I wouldn't go under 3/4" thick. And your drip edge goes first, under the underlay
Hey Jesse, I know I already told you 20 times that this is the last question; but I believe this one will be the penultimate (could be 4 or 5 more): The drip edge goes at the front of the fascia board (visible from outside) or behind, so inside, between the fascia and the sub fascia. Thanks Jesse.
Thanks. I could built it today for about $1300 where I live. Even cost for cost though, this will always be better because you get much more lumber. They still have to make a profit on the kit, so they take out material to do it. Up to you, good luck either way!
So far, so good .... I started working on the rafter template yesterday & ran into a snag. The dimension/height for the front wall is 91.5" from the floor to the 2nd top plate. I believe that's because you used a full OSB sheet as your 8' outer dimension. So, technically, when I'm placing the screws to make my rafter template, shouldn't I place the front one at 13.5", and not the 18" (like you instructed)? I don't know if I'm over thinking this, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
Hey, good to hear! So yeah, you sir are correct. I misspoke and said a foot and a half, but I went back and watched the footage I actually measured 13.5", my bad. Hope that helps clear the air. Good luck, can't wait to see it!
Great series! Super informative. I’m trying to learn here and am curious at what point you should use a bird mouth cut in the rafters? Is there a certain pitch that would require it? Thanks!
Thanks, glad you like it! I'm also very happy I could help. For the birds mouth you can put it on at any time if you want but it isn't really needed on a small shed. If you go for a larger shed and pass the size for needing a permit in your area, then you'd need to do them. For me that size is 100 Sq.ft, so a 8x10 shed is under that and I can get away without it. Hope that helps
Thanks. I didn't cut any birds mouths above the top wall plates at all, not totally needed for this. As for the rear overhang I just used the same template piece for the front and flipped it over. Traced that and it's the same perfect angle.
Jesse, thank for your videos I was able to build my shed with no issues. I just have a question, did you use only roofing paper and shingles? Do the nails go through and you can see them in the inside? Or did you use staples?
That's awesome, I'm glad I could help! Yes, it was paper and shingles on mine and yes the nails are visible inside. I wasn't overly worried about it myself, not going to smack my head on them or touch them. Hope that helps, thanks for sharing!
Sorry if this is a stupid question when you’re tying in the side walls and the back walls with your second top plate are any other those 2 x 4 top plates Need to be cut? My side walls are 8 feet my back wall is 10 feet. If I overlay my side walls top plate to tie into the back wall do I need to cut that back wall top plate? how many inches does the back 2nd wall top plate need to be?
No prob. Well all the top plates will need to be cut to size. Your walls are like mine, so I'd just do it the same way. Take your back wall top plate and cut 3.5" off each end, or 7" shorter than the wall. Then take your side wall top plates and cut them 3.5" longer than your wall. It'll just set on top of the side walls and that extra 3.5" will overlap the back wall in the corners. Then your back wall top plate will just fit on top in between the 2 side wall overlaps, it will overlap nothing.
Good video. One critique. Your door brace crossbeam is upside down. The bottom always goes on the hinge side of the door. Unfortunately It doesn’t add any strength the way you mounted it.
Thanks. As I said in the video, it's just there for the OSB to screw to, to make it sturdier. The OSB is what keeps the door square, there is no sag so it isn't a support brace. If it was a support brace it also would have went corner to corner, mine was just in the middle half of the door
Glad I found this build. I learned a lot watching through and think I might try this when material prices are better. How do you feel about 2 foot framing for a shed vs the 16 inch? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I'm happy I could help! Depends on where you are but lumber prices have mostly corrected themselves here, still up a buck to a few bucks but that's it. 24" on center will work for the walls of a shed, but I'd stick with 16" for the floor and roof. Good luck on yours, keep me posted!
@@JessedoesDIY That makes sense. I want to build like 5 sheds, not for any logical reason though, just because sheds are awesome lol. Thanks again for videos.
Any outdoor rated paint will work just fine. The thing with paint for outdoors is it's meant to be layered up pretty thick over time. So you'll have to recoat it after a couple years, then maybe another 5 after that. Then you'll probably have a good thick layer of protection to last decades
Thanks! On something this small and because it's just a shed, we can fudge some rules. That was one of them that isn't 100% necessary, and it makes it much easier for the average person to build when they don't have to worry about them
Hello Boss. I noticed that you didn't install drip edges. Allow me a question: is it really necessary? If not, it is still better. Without it, any chance for the rain water to get in or damage the boards on my roof?
Hey, I would have but at the time supplies were crunched and I couldn't find any. I'm actually putting some up soon because yes, it does help roof life and water shedding, and also ice damming in the winter if you have that like I do
@@JessedoesDIY Can I ask you for your name? I don't have enough words to express my gratitude. Drip edges, on all 4 walls or just at front and back. I am going for my drip edges now to Lowe's. I will send a photos before and after I finish. Working on my roof. By the way, you don't teach how to start with shingles. Thanks.
My name is Jesse. No problem, I'm happy to help, and glad you're giving it a go! Just on the front and back is all you need, sides are fine. Yeah I never had a chance to show the shingles. I had a blizzard rushing in I was trying to beat. Because filming takes more time my dad was doing the shingles while I was finishing up the structure, I figured that was more important to show since there are plenty of roofing videos out there. It literally snowed the next day, that's why I never even splashed paint on it till this summer
What people FAIL to realize is, Building a Shed Cost ABOUT Half Or Less than Buying One... EXAMPLE ONLY! Buy a 8x10 Shed for $5,000 and by the time you pay it off, you spent About $10,000.. Or Do like He did here and What I did, I BUILT a 10x10 For Under $1,000.
@@bitlong4669 IF You are able to PAY CASH, Fine. I am Talking about Payments and MOST People Make Payments.. Another EXAMPLE ONLY But TRUE.. A $15,000 ( After Tax ) Shed If You Pay CASH you are Done and over With.. Now Look at the Shed Companies Payment Plan. By the Time you Pay it Off Using THEIR Plan, that $15,000 Shed is Now $28,000 On their 60 month Plan and $32,000 on their 72 month plan. AND You Can NOT DO ANYTHING TO Them Until They Are Paid Off!... Look For Yourself. I could give Links but they would get deleted.. PAY CASH And Get It for the $15,000 But Again Most People Can Only Make Payments. And Still Cheaper to Build It Yourself.
Good morning my dear. A question: the second top plate, had to be only one piece or I can use 2, because my shed is 10 inches larger. If yes, do I have to use 2 big pieces, or is it fine if I just add the little piece that is missing. Thank you.
Typically on the front and back walls because they are holding the weight of the roof, you want to use full length plates, not pieces. They are there to distribute the load evenly and multiple pieces can't do that correctly. On the side walls, in this type of build at least, it is a little less important and you'll notice when I'm panning the camera, I briefly showed I used 2 pieces on my side top plates
hello there. have a question. what size of stud for roof truss did you use . *****2by4by10***** or *****2by4by8***** ?? in the description of materials it say 11- 2by4by8....... but the width of your shed is 8 feet, and the truss has an overhang on both sides. should it show 11 studs of *****2by4by10***** in the description for materials.?? now its time for me to go buy studs for roof truss. thanks.
I was wondering, i want to do a 12 x 24 so i figured i would add 1 more 4x4 on the bottom and i may want to put a car in it. Would 2x6 be strong enough to hold a car for floor studs?, and if i do 2 12' x 12' sections how would I go about butting them together?
To put a car in it you'll have issues with the floor sheeting as well as the joists. You'll probably need a concrete slab. The roof would also need to be beefed up a bit because of the span
Thanks for the quick reply I’m not actually going to put a car only a riding mower. As for the roof if I go 12 inch on center with hurricane ties will that make it work. Honestly I have never seen a lean to shed going horizontally it’s just like yours 8x10 , I understand if it was 8 x 12 or bigger no way I will do it this way.Thank you so much Jesse.
Just wondering. Why is this done with the side wall structure separated into a wall and an angled roof support "Wedge" on top? I'd have thought it would have been simpler (Less cutting, less wood, fewer joins) to make the side wall frames to incorporate the roof slope as a single panel......... Or am I missing something important here?
It's actually easier this way for most people because you don't have to figure out how long and the angle of the wall studs are before hand and possibly have them wrong. This way it's easy to make the angled cuts from scrap pieces after and the wall is straight boards all the same length. Do it how you feel works for you, either or works
So your shed is 10’ wide by 8’ deep,is there any particular reason you went that way.I want to make mine the same dimension, except I was going to go 8’ wide by 10’ deep. Are there any advantages or just personal preference.Thank you.I watched the whole series at least twice.
Hey, no advantages nope. I just had the space in my yard to go wider than I did longer so that's the way I went. I also just prefer this way. No other real reason than that. Good luck on yours! Keep me posted, I'd love to see it when its done
@@JessedoesDIY ok I will do that,I’m waiting for my sprinkler installer to come and move a sprinkler head then I will get started.Lumber prices really dropped here in the states so now is a good time.
I want to know what you spent in materials to do this build. I an very curious. I need a building but I rent where I live so I want to go as cheap as I can. Just a few weeks ago an 8x10 metal building was only 399. As of covid I guess like everything else it has been raised now to 520. That's just for the building though not including lumber for the floor. Granted that won't cost that much, but as I said I want to go as cheap as I can. If it's cheaper to build a building like u have I will do that instead.
To build this shed it cost me $1500. It costs more because you are paying for the quality of the structure, there is no comparison to a metal one, this is stronger. But if you are looking to watch costs I get it, I have a small metal one too.
Thank you buddy. I appreciate it. I had gotten a metal shed off of facebook market place that was suppose to be complete and was suppose to have been an 8x6. Once I got it home and started going thru the paper work to see how to build the floor it had measurements on it. It ended up only being a 5x6. All the pieces where there but it's much smaller than the seller claimed. I need something bigger than what looks to be an outhouse.
Hello I am wanting to build a shed with a wood frame and metal walls and roof. Do I have follow the instructions you using same for wood and replace the wood walls with metal? Thanks. Ood

Nice not worrying about birds mouth cuts! Great videos
Yup! Appreciate it!

Hi there from Taupo New Zealand, just watched all 4 videos of you building your shed, bloody well done and cheers as ive been wanting to get a shed for a while and something like this will be perfect. Awesome mate and thanks for your help
Hey and cheers! Thanks, glad you liked it! That's awesome. Well I'm happy I could help and good luck on yours, keep posted!
How much would you charge someone to build a shed like that
That all depends on your material costs, labour's costs of your area. I couldn't say
Great video and great teaching skills really appreciated bro

Wow! Your videos of the whole process were excellent!!! Thank you!
Thanks! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for sharing your great ideas in creating this video. Can you make a shed with 2-door in front? Thanks again!
No prob, glad you like it. Unfortunately I can't as I need somewhere to build it and somebody to build it for. But you can just make the door opening larger and make 2 smaller doors to fit into the opening, that's all
Awesome job I'll just take my time as I'm jumping from video to video. Great to get help from a pro appreciate that thanks bro
Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm just happy to help. Good luck on yours! If you have any questions feel free to ask
Came across your video, loved it. Started my shed following your directions, thank you for this. Just subscribed
Awesome! Thank you! Good luck on yours, keep me posted
I like the you build that shed.good job guy.
Thanks
Nice, that should be awesome. We'll I'm glad I could help and thanks for watching. Good luck on yours! Let me know how it goes
Great videos I’m building a shed too and these videos are very helpful. New subscriber 👍
That's awesome, I'm glad I could help! Welcome to the crew, glad to have you. Good luck on your shed
Awesome build mate Iv enjoyed watching your videos 😁👌
Thanks, appreciate it!
VERY GOOD NICE TIPS🏠
Thanks
@@JessedoesDIY thanks I'll check it out.
Thanks for the great videos. How would you fit old glass windows all around to serve as a greenhouse during winter times.
Good job
Thank you
Not started yet but in the process of getting all my materials
Awesome, good luck! Let me know how it goes
Liking this series, will be building one soon. Any chance we can get that video on how you installed the shingles on the roof
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Unfortunately no, I never got any footage of it at all, too much of a rush to beat the snow. And I haven't had a chance to film it anywhere else since. But there are plenty of shingle how to's out there, so I prioritized the roof structure. Good luck on yours!
Inspired. Gonna give this one a go. I live in Cali eh.
That's awesome! Go for it and good luck eh!
@@JessedoesDIY well I'm 17 so I gotta save so prolly wont have the supplies until the end of next summer

@@JessedoesDIY couldn't have said it better myself
When you shingled the roof what did you use to cap off the shingles at the highest point of the roof,on the lowest point where you started the shingles I assume you used dip edge?
Yup
Nice job man.. very good information and very good explanation on all your videos.. question.. how much do you spend for all ?
Thanks! All total was $1800 with inflated covid pricing
Jessie,
I'm building a shed using your plans and watching the video.
G. H. Cain
That's awesome, good to hear! Yes I misspoke in the video. 14" is the correct rise. Sorry for the delayed response. Can't wait to see it!
Great videos!!! But why not notch the 2x4's on the front & back top plate? Or maybe hangers/ hurricane clips?? Just curious why you didn't do that
Thanks! Birdsmouth cuts aren't really necessary on something this small, and it would have just added complexity. And I did add hurricane ties.
@@JessedoesDIY yeah, sorry.... I finished watching later that evening and saw you put them on. Thx!
No prob. Anytime! Thanks for watching
I’m building mine same way 👍🏽
That's awesome! Good luck on yours!
I think I would have prioritized birdsmouth cuts on my rafters over vertical ends. I'm curious why you did the opposite.
Allow me one more question; probably the last 2 ones:
Hey Jesse, I know I already told you 20 times that this is the last question; but I believe this one will be the penultimate (could be 4 or 5 more):
The drip edge goes at the front of the fascia board (visible from outside) or behind, so inside, between the fascia and the sub fascia.
Thanks Jesse.
Outside. It should be visible
Question, on your boards.. waxed part face out or in? I’m building a dog house similar to your shed build. I’m New to building
The side of the board with the manufacturer writing and lines on them for stud location is your out side. Good luck on your build!
Great video. How much in cost of materials did you have in this build? I’m thinking about building vs buying a barn kit. Thanks
@@JessedoesDIY amazing! I really appreciate you’re reply! Keep up the awesome videos!
Love it🇨🇦
Awesome, thanks!
Great video! Did you cut any pitch on trusses where they mounted to the top plate on the back wall?
Thanks. I didn't cut any birds mouths above the top wall plates at all, not totally needed for this. As for the rear overhang I just used the same template piece for the front and flipped it over. Traced that and it's the same perfect angle.
@@JessedoesDIY Thank you

Jesse, thank for your videos I was able to build my shed with no issues. I just have a question, did you use only roofing paper and shingles? Do the nails go through and you can see them in the inside? Or did you use staples?
That's awesome, I'm glad I could help! Yes, it was paper and shingles on mine and yes the nails are visible inside. I wasn't overly worried about it myself, not going to smack my head on them or touch them. Hope that helps, thanks for sharing!
Awesome cabin ..How much total material thanksss

Awesome! Glad to have you on the crew
I'm currently building this for a chicken coop, I got the roof 2/3 done today
Awesome! Good luck on the rest
What was the rough cost to build this? I know lumber is crazy right now in the States. These videos are great, thank you for doing this.
Thanks! It cost me $1700 with inflated pricing. Glad I could help
Lol well that will save a little dough for you. Good luck on yours
What kind of paint do you recommend to protect the wood from rain?
Any outdoor rated paint will work just fine. The thing with paint for outdoors is it's meant to be layered up pretty thick over time. So you'll have to recoat it after a couple years, then maybe another 5 after that. Then you'll probably have a good thick layer of protection to last decades
Your videos are great, but I was wondering why you did not cut a birdsmouth on the rafters?
Thanks! On something this small and because it's just a shed, we can fudge some rules. That was one of them that isn't 100% necessary, and it makes it much easier for the average person to build when they don't have to worry about them
Jesse please, that material in between OSB and shingles (paper roof or something like that), is it really necessary or I can omit it. Thanks Jesse.
Roofing paper, yeah I'd do it. It isn't 100% needed on a shed, but to have it last along time and be correct you want it on there
Good video but why cordless drill over framing nailer?
Makes it easy for anyone to do
Hello Boss. I noticed that you didn't install drip edges. Allow me a question: is it really necessary? If not, it is still better. Without it, any chance for the rain water to get in or damage the boards on my roof?
Hey, I would have but at the time supplies were crunched and I couldn't find any. I'm actually putting some up soon because yes, it does help roof life and water shedding, and also ice damming in the winter if you have that like I do
@@JessedoesDIY
Can I ask you for your name?

Yeah, I never say you'll do it for less. What you will get is a much better and stronger product for the same amount of money spent.
What are you smoking. The cost of materials is insane. I agree with Jesse tho, you get what you want in terms of quality/customization.
What materials did you use for the roof in case of rain?
I said at the start of the video it was shingled
Beautiful ❤️💕💕 i
Thanks!
@@JessedoesDIY
I really appreciate your attention and time you gave to my concerns.

hello there. have a question. what size of stud for roof truss did you use . *****2by4by10***** or *****2by4by8***** ?? in the description of materials it say 11- 2by4by8....... but the width of your shed is 8 feet, and the truss has an overhang on both sides. should it show 11 studs of *****2by4by10***** in the description for materials.?? now its time for me to go buy studs for roof truss. thanks.
Hey, sorry, I apologize. Yes they are 2×4×10, I'll change it. Thanks for letting me know. Good luck on yours, keep me posted on your progress!
Do you made floor prints for sheds for an 16 x 38 ft ?
Nope. That's more of a building size than a shed
Awesome!
No problem, happy to help. Sucks when people don't list things correctly and you're left on the hook. Good luck, keep me posted
Hello I am wanting to build a shed with a wood frame and metal walls and roof. Do I have follow the instructions you using same for wood and replace the wood walls with metal? Thanks.
Ood
For the floor it'll be the same. Metal framing for the walls is a bit different but it'll still work with this floor
