Thank you! It's refreshing to see someone who keeps it simple and builds according to the requirements, without over-engineering. I'm glad you kept it as a shed, because that's exactly what it is-no need to overbuild.
Just binged all your videos for my new shed I'm planning. You do a great job of explaining things all the way down so that literally anyone can do it. Thanks so much!
Well technically I'm in a cast as I type this. I filmed all of these in advance. Cast come off Sept. 24 then I'm in a boot but at least then I'll be up and moving. I'd probably actually enjoy that, but I have no training for teaching in school.
It is also good practice to listen to the manufacturers recommendations because in the event there is ever an insurance claim on your build, insurance will go after the company and the company will investigate to see if their product was installed correctly. I had this happen with shingles on my house and the shingle company came out to try and prove the installers did not do it correctly. So just be mindful of that especially when it is something of value.
I wish my Dad was still alive I wish my Three Sons were all still home and not spread across the country in the US Coast Guard You are blessed to be working with your Dad.
Wow great detail and well described video. Just wondering the reason not to overhang on any side. Usually the front and rear have over hang so rain stays away from the structure. Than you for sharing and creating the video for all to see.
Thank very much, glad you liked it! The overhangs can just trip people up on finishing it all out, I've seen it, I was trying to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks for watching
@@JessedoesDIYwhat is the length of that board in the center, of the boards you screw together what is the length of the center one to determine the height of your beam?
Thanks. Mitering or anything else would be very difficult because this is classified as rough framing, so there will be inconsistencies of up to 1/4" that you can allow for. Because of that, fine carpentry is very hard here
one thing i dont like about this is the saddle being in my way at the end of the end rafters id have to cut out around it cos i like my end rafters to be flush an even with my ridge board on the ends
Run rafters past wall to have some overhang. Use H1's on the outside of framing then siding goes over them. Inside run continuous 2x ripped down at the roof pitch flush with wall under the rafters. Set gable rafters 1/2" out then lap gable siding 3" down over wall siding Nail along edge through both sheets into top plate of wall to tie it all together. Stronger, sheds water on gable, no seam. Siding should go down to bottom of floor framing . 45 bevel cut fascia corners! 👍😀
Hi! It's 19 1/4" tall on the outside and 16 1/2" inside. I just picked that to make it 2' overall to the top of the roof sheeting because I liked that height. Hope that helps
The depends on how much rain you get and for how long it will be exposed. It rained on and off for a couple weeks while building and for the most part it was small showers which were ok. I'd just go outside and sweep off any standing water. But there were a couple times where we had long overnight rains and I covered it in tarps because after all the small showers, I think I was pushing it. The most important part is drying it off as quickly as possible and not leaving it wet.
Hey Jesse, another great shed build. Unfortunately there are about a million videos on it. What there isn’t many of, are a small generator shed. I understand it’s a miniature shed, but with fans, soundproofing, vents and a hatch to open top and sides would be great.
You can make them whatever you please, but mine were 19 1/4" for the outsides and 16 1/2" for the center piece. All the dimensions and everything are in the detailed plans if you want
Execelente video el mejor que e visto no se cómo escribir en ingles pero está muy bien explicado gracias por compartir con nosotros qué dios te bendiga ❤
Because I've done it before and never had an issue on a shed, but mostly I could only buy an amount to do about 8 of these sheds locally, and I couldn't find anybody selling leftovers
"Just a shed"? No sir. It is proof to the world that you are the best craftsman that ever existed. There is no compromise. Build it better than the home you live in. If you don't, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Overbuilt will give you an incredible ego boost. Plywood not osb. Build it proud. We have enough regrets in life. Don't let it be your beloved shed.
haha at the end of the day it is "just a shed" but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be strong, just that I can take a couple liberties and it'll last just fine because I'm not worried about people inhabiting it. But you are correct, I subscribe to overbuilt rather than under and I'm proud to show people. Thanks for watching!
I did, but only because it was faster and repeatable. You could still very easily keep using the circular saw or even a jigsaw. Glad you like it though
I love how most creators answer the same questions 100 times in the comments...even when it's outlined in the video. But this man says "go watch, bro." 😂 And I would do the same. Nobody got time for all that.
@@LogHewer Well I mean come on. If you can't watch, then I can't answer. If you have a legit question after watching that I didn't cover, fine, but seriously
I'm not moving right now lol I filmed these all at once and edited after the surgery, I currently have a cast on right now as I type this and you'll actually see it in the last shed video because I filmed the outro yesterday lol So I can't come build anything right now lol You've got it!
Most people don't have or will not buy one if this is the only project they will build. Which is why I built it the way I did, the tools most homeowners have. But if you have one, go for it

The most cleared non confusing diy shed video! Awesome thanks so much for all your videos. God bless you Jesse.
Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoy and learn from it.
What a great tutorial. This is the first video of yours that came up on my feed. Going to find some of your others now for more pointers.
Thanks! Well either way I'm glad you found me, welcome!
Nails and screws, so you get both the shear & tensile strength. Love this.
It looks pretty smart. Well done 👍👍
Great video. I wish I neglected the birds mouth cuts for the kids playhouse!
Thanks! It saves a lot of hassle
Glad to see your work again! U should be working in our high school shop classes. Helping our children with tricks of the trade

True point. But in this case it doesn't fall under code requirements based on size so I'm ok here. But I see what you're saying.
I enjoy the viewing, thank you. I learned bit more from it. Simple and clean work.
Thanks, glad to hear it!
Wow Awesome. Glad I found the video
The best comprehensive simple shed build video that i have seen! Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks so much!

You are blessed to be working with your Dad.
Thank you. But it sounds like even if they aren't home, you have amazing sons of your own
Coast Guard is a great service! 85 to 90 myself.
you nailed this video🎉
Thanks!
Why didn’t you leave overhang from the walls ?
I usually do overhangs on my roofs, but this looks nice on a shed. Looks good 👍
Thanks! I almost did a small overhang, but decided to omit it for simplicity because it's just a shed.

What a great idea for a jig to hold the center beam, thanks for the video
Thanks. Glad you liked it!

Good job but is their a better way to join the facia corner instead of butting it?

WELL DONE LIKE THE IDEA OF PRE PAINTING THE FACIAL AND OTHER BOARDS
Thanks. Saved a big headache and extra work by not doing it later
Great job!!!
Looking pretty good! Love the contrast.
Thanks, I do too. I wanted something classic looking
I'm building mine AWS. Thank you for sharing
Awesome! Good luck on it

That's a nice-looking shed. Hi Dad.
Thanks! I'll pass it along

Hi been watching this series and how tall is ridge post you made? Would love to know the details

Any precautions for rain during the building? Will it damage anything

Thanks, and you're right. Unfortunately I don't have a generator nor do I know of anybody, so I can't show it. I'd love to though
❤❤video great thanks roy😊😊

Looks great!
Thanks!
Does it matter the length of the middle 2x4 the center beam (2x6) rests on?
I literally just pulled the height out of thin air because I wanted the top of the roof 2' high overall
hi what are the dimensions ( measurements ) of the saddle thing the 2 outside and the middle one for the roof ?
You can make them whatever you please, but mine were 19 1/4" for the outsides and 16 1/2" for the center piece. All the dimensions and everything are in the detailed plans if you want

Why skip roofing felt when using 3-tab shingles?

Absolutely right
an i noticed you didnt use califorina corners
Muy interesante ❤
It's called sandwiching to boards together. A T.
It's also called laminating, and sistering
Needs Z-flashing between siding courses
Thankyou

u used a chop saw too.....still like the shed
I did, but only because it was faster and repeatable. You could still very easily keep using the circular saw or even a jigsaw. Glad you like it though

What did you use for trim?

How do you figure?
Birdseye cut makes a stronger hold and ties walls and roof together so I don't agree with you that a Birdseye cut is not necessary
Add it if you want. We had a general rule of thumb in school and this was under it. But nobody is stopping you
Where's the Z flashing for the T-111. ??? ..
I negated it myself and filled gaps with caulk and painted over. But feel free to
