    The real standouts are the darn tough merino wool socks, sx1 knee guards, and crossfire 3 ta.. but try the sidi xpower/x3.. they are lighter with similar fit and maintain critical protection and actually have better lateral support.

    Yes, the rib protection is huge. I broke two in Idaho hopping a log, with rib pro, but not enough. And roger copy on getting the most burly boot. I roll Sidi's too. No brainer. I'm tempted to toss the trials boots on every now and then, then I wise back up. Nice vids, man.

    Hi John, after watching many of your videos on what you wear, this one rang a bell. I went back to pics of my IDBDR ride 2020, and sure enough, I have a picture of you at the Indian Post Office in this gear. I subscribe to the same philosophy on what to wear. Have added the Woodsman pant to the arsenal. Maybe see you on the WYOMING BDR this year!

    John, another great review. Is there any chance you can provide a break dow) review or part numbers for the steering damper? I'd like to get new bars and a damper am a little lost in all the parts, risers, comparability etc. Its still not a common bike over here.

    • @JohnTYoung

      I can try, but that was a while ago. I just got Scots Sub Mount kit and was done.with the math. It includes the damper, collar and risers for the bars. Mounts the damper below ( sub) the bars.

    I’m new to mx jerseys. Are there anyone that are 100% stretch as a soccer jersey? I find the ones I’ve found very stiff and movement restrictive.

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure Jay. I think they're supposed to be a little stretchy. I just size up so they don't bind on my armor.

    Hi John. I have been jumping all through your videos. Enjoying all of them. I found you through your Mosko Moto Woodsman Pant review. I am jumping back and forth from the Woodsman Pant and the AS - Atacama Pant. I caught that you really like the Woodsman. Then I heard you say the Atacama was heavy and warm. Wondering if you have any helpful thoughts to guide my decision.
    Surprisingly the Woodsman pant has a better price tag than the Atacama pant. Sadly, that is not the same story for the Basilisk jacket.

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Atacama pant is and looks like a moto pant. It's heavy and has articulation everywhere it needs it. It breathes alright. The woodsman pant feels lighter, is actually waterproof in spots, and looks like a pair of technical climbing pants. I like both, but I always reach for the Woodsman Pants when it's time to go ride. I hope that helps.

    Hi nice review I am hopefully going to do the IDBDR around Sept this year, So do you need to carry waterproof over pants or something like that or are the woodsman waterproof enough alone? Thanks

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That depends on the level of comfort you feel you need and the forecast. I found that the Woodsman pants were plenty good enough, but I didn't encounter a lot of rain and I like to suffer at least a little.

    Hi, I am wondering if the 450 is a good fit for me. I am 6'6", 225lbs, 64 years old and am looking for a good, solid, low maintenance , reliable, light weight dual sport that will fit my frame and do highways, fire roads and maybe some single track. I am coming off of a Suzuki DR650 and a Suzuki DRZ400s. The 650 is a bit heavy and the 400 is a bit challenged on the hwy. Thank you for your input.

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roy. The 450L presses all the buttons except for low maintenance. Sorry, you're going to have to learn to love changing your oil and filter. Valve checks are every 1800 miles, but I'm sure those can be spread out even more. Everything else tho, looks like a good fit. I'll have a 10000 mile review out shortly that may answer some more of your questions. Thanks for watching!

    Omg, yes, excellent! Motorcycling is the only sport I know of where people buy and wear fully waterproof gear all the time - when likely they're only riding in rain 5% of the time. Why?? Why not LAYER and use a versatile softshell pant like this guy does and then just throw a waterproof layer on top for the times when it's actually wet! His system seems dialed, clearly comes from experience. Personally, I have a lot of experience with self propelled alpine/mountain sports like rock climbing, mountaineering, and ski touring but was really struggling to figure out how to dress for dual sport and real adventure riding. This review confirmed my suspicion that I should stay away from all the 'adventure' Klim junk... who in their right mind could actually do anything athletic/physical in their Badlands jacket!?
