I don't understand how they can put so much into one song and have it work sooo good. But having songs like Bleed Into Me and Scattering the Ashes help the flow of the album cause sometimes you just a need a break from mind blowing insanity haha. They went from Sickness Into You to Scattering the Ashes to this. I love this album.
I really like Alex as an addition...Trivium is getting drumming on par with Gojira now and their guitar work, imo, has always been above Gojira. I've always seen Trivium as an elite band in terms of guitar work ... up there with Opeth almost!
I have to emphasize that they even make the bass being heard by the audience. Gojira and Trivium for me are also two bands that need to be mentioned when talking about instrumental perfection
Alex takes this band to another level. Sin and the Sentence was just about a perfect album instrumentally and vocally but with What the Dead Men Say; it is SO GOOD that they are just showing off....I can't decide what album is better.
Don't worry too much about having just one song left. The best part about Trivium is that every single song on the album (Even scattering) gets better with more listens. You should listen to the album in full a few times and then to a revisit video in the future!

I absolutely love this song, am getting a big Shogun-y vibe from from it. I also love the little egyptian-esque bit at 5:47. So much going on, the feeling of it makes it soo dark and heavy, it's amazing. Next song in my 'to learn' list after I am done with Amongst the Shadows and the Stones.
6:58 He Who Spawned The Furies vibes ✊🏻 This song overall has the melodic death metal vibes in it, the intro riffs, the chorus, breakdown, last chorus has a little bit of he who spawned the furies leads, and then of course the last part full of blast beating .. best track on the album !!

This is filthy. With the ups and downs of this song, it’s almost like The Sin And The Sentence, especially with that surprise at the end. But, Thrown Into The Fire is I think the filthiest song on TSATS. I think this is the filthiest on WTDMS.

Louis Chadwick I was a little disappointed too because it’s a song short in my opinion and there’s two softer ballad type songs on there, but the rest of the song are phenomenal. Even The Ones We Leave Behind, which was a song that didn’t register for me at first is now easily one of my favs off it.
iChoseScylla to me it’s not the album itself that was disappointing, because every song is a banger and there’s nothing I dislike about them, but it was the way it was built up. In my opinion it was spoiled a bit by having 4 singles, because it only left 5 new songs (not counting IX as a song) and I personally feel that the only song of those five that is as good as the singles is The Defiant. Also people kept saying things like “best thing Trivium have ever done” and “it’s shogun 2” just hyped it up WAY too much. It’s good, but to me it’s more like a follow up to The Sin And The Sentence. it has similar vibes in my opinion (and I don’t like it as much as TSATS). Perhaps my opinions will change, but for now that’s why I was disappointed. It’s a brilliant album but it didn’t live up to the hype. Also I didn’t see the boys confirm that those track listings “leaked” a while back were fake so I was SUPER disappointed when there was no 13 minute epic. It could also do with a couple more songs in my opinion. Maybe if some songs were longer it would be different, but I’m not a big fan of short albums.
