    My grandfather had a 20M RS 2.3 SHC, green with black vinyl roof. When grandfather died, my father inherited the car. He stroked it to 2.6 lt using Ford parts and swap it to the company Ford Transit MkII (1979-80 model) together with gearbox, not remember about the carb. The Transit would fly to 180 km/h (indicated in a Cortina MkV dashboard with rev-counter). The 20M was rusted away and sold for scrap, but the Transit lived until 2013. My father sold it when he retired and closed the family machine shop. So, my childhood and more is full by Ford v6 sound.

    Nice to see a Taunus in England! I had a 1966 20m Hardtop in the early 1980's, when living in England. Nothing beats the feel and sound of the Cologne V6, although mine was only 2000cc. These cars are big, tough and great for long journeys, and they do turn heads in England.

    Wonderful, "dramatic" engine sound, but the small 2.0l HC engine produced only 90HP and enabled a top speed of 160km/h.

      Ah yes.....but this is the 2.3. Giving a HUGE 100bhp'ish. She currently makes 110. But am yet to rolling road it on a more suited carb that I've since fitted.

      Yes it's a big heavy car for a 2,0 lt V4. I have the 1969 Taunus RS, 2 lt. It's a beautiful car, my dad bought it in 1975 and it's only got 68000km on the clock. Right hand drive as I'm in South Africa. Mine has a twin choke Weber

    Thank you taunusv4power!
    Over here the Taunus is a rarity and that is why I love my car! I went out to buy a mk2 Cortina.......but came home with this instead!
    I love many makes of car, especially Fords: Escorts, Capris ets, but at shows they are everywhere. Whereas with a Taunus I am usually the only one or maybe one other at most.
    It is certainly nice to be different! :-)

      I just saw your comment right now, well, the Taunus is rare here in Peru too, the most common is the 12M from 1962 and the 17M P5 that is even more common than the 12M but I'm sure there are not more than 30 Taunus running in the whole country, sadly, you cannot find any Taunus in perfect condition except for the P5 that must be at least 3 in good condition in my city.
      I wanted the most rare to find Taunus available that is the 17M P3 and I found one of the 4 I know they are running in my city, I'm restoring it to new condition with the original faltergelb and pastellweiss colour and will be my daily driver. yours is very rare too, I always see a turnier P7 and I saw a 4 door in very good condition, but I've never saw an RS! oh, the most awesome thing I knew about the P3 are the headlights, they were used on the Lamborghini 350GT! :D

      V4 Garage i've just finished the celica. now it's time to do the taunus. i'll let you know when i finish it. there are so many few stuff to do. let's hope the engine is not broken. it sounds like a lawn mower... well if it's dead i'll just take out the engine of my wagon ;)

      If you ever need a V4 engine, i have one lying around.. Going to do a V6 swap and turn my 17M into a 20M.

      V4 Garage thank you very much for the offer! unfortunately, peruvian laws won't allow me to import used car parts even for oldtimers, pretty dumb isn't it? can you believe they rejected me a package i got from Germany with lights and emblems? well, there's nothing i can do. but again, thanks a lot :)
      V6 swap? i got the 20M V6 glove box emblem. i met a guy in 2013 with taunus and opel parts. he was getting rid of anything, he just gave me 2 as a gift. lucky me; they are super rusted though :D

    robust as no other machine never built . Enjoiable sound that cames as the powers is overcomming. Not difficult to get quick fun with and get addicted to. Ugly line maybe and first sight, lovely personality ones you get in. Seductive in the short distance. Taste and you will never will rideoff. Old horses drive you were your dreams cannot imagine.

    everyone turned around to watch your car, how different is your country than mine, here happens all the opposite with classic cars, they just care about 1965 mustangs and camaros :(
    good taunus sir, that engine sounds great!

    Sounds just like an old Maserati!
    I love the sound.
    Why Maserati never installed Ford V6?
    Maserati engines broke down any time, Ford 6 last 4 ever!

    Sounds very like an E28 BMW 528iA (M30 straight “Big Six” engine) - there’s a TH-cam video (called “UK BMW E28 528i first in car video”) where it sounds just like this - both sound great!

    • @reubenward3858
      @reubenward3858  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dmlarsen5 no this is the 105bhp variant, maybe? Can't remember exact figure but some guys in Germany referenced the engine code for me and it's not the 125 version. After the rebuild I couldn't find a carb that worked well with it. And she has been off the road for about 4yrs (started a family) until this year. Now fitted a carb I took off my 2.3 Sierra and rebuilt. Will get it rolling tuned soon and hope to get some better figures. But she really does pull well already, so we're going in the right direction again.

    • @dmlarsen5
      @dmlarsen5 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok normal the original 20m rs is a tuned 2.3 125 hp or a 2.6 126 hp engine . But it's good to hear that you get it on the road again

    • @reubenward3858
      @reubenward3858  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dmlarsen5 all I know is the engine number is original and matching the car. And the chassis number is confirmed as an RS. So I guess they did a few variants within the RS range.

    This is not a Taunus - it simply is called 20m . Nothing to do with the former car called taunus.

    • @mikbe2579
      @mikbe2579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right. 20M P7. The least-known V6 engine build by Ford Cologne, however, was the P7 17M's 1.8l with 82HP.

    Where did u get those yellow foglight lenses and clear turn indicators from?

    • @reubenward3858
      @reubenward3858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      K.H Films the spot lenses are original, but wrapped in motorsports grade yellow gel film. As used on GT race cars. The clear indicators came from motomobil in Germany... Where I get most of my parts.

    • @KHFilms
      @KHFilms 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reuben Ward Thanks! I've looked for parts from motomobil, but I didn't notice they have clear indicators. I'm just 15 years old, but I've got my first car already - A 1969 Ford Taunus 20M RS (P7b)... I've done the majority of metalwork already, but I have no idea about how the Cologne is feeling... I think it would be best for me to at least hone the cylinders and get some new piston rings, rebuild the carburettor or buy a new one instead and to hope for the best... That's a really nice car you've got, by the way!

    • @KHFilms
      @KHFilms 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I forgot to ask, did you buy the carb from Eurocarb?

    • @reubenward3858
      @reubenward3858  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The carb cane from Webcon direct. it's a little too large for the 2.3 but it is the only one available. it is specified for 2.3 and 2.8. but you can only change the jets and not the choke as this is cast. I have made a restrict or plate to increase airspeed into the manifold.
      When I shop with moto Mobil I email Ingo Klottka who works there and he simply finds what I need the had clear front indicators in stock.
      good luck with your project

      Hi Pedro Filipe. My wheels are the original RS steels but I have had them banded (widened with a steel band)
      Now an inch wider at the front and 2 inches at the rear.
      Tyres are Nankang but I can't remember the size at the moment and I am away from home.
      I hope this helps.
