Thank you. I agree, It sounded like a different language when I first started learning about ATC communications. I listened to a lot of liveATC and that helped me to understand it better.

Shouldn't the squawk be 1200? Why'd the controller issue you 1562?

Any class B or C (radar environments) will have a discrete code for departures. After clearing the area, you will be instructed to squawk VFR, so enter 1200 at that time.
