Nicolas Cage is one of those actors who rarely dials in a performance. Whatever role you give him, no matter whether it's underwritten or balls-off-the-wall wild, he's almost always in there giving 200 percent!
These movies are so sick. Early 2000’s - 2010’s marvel movies hold a special place in my heart. Hoping the mcu does something as rad as this with Ghost Rider
I will always be a defender for Spirit of Vengeance not as a movie entirely but more so the structure of what they tried to do. Even though this movie isn't good, the Ghost Rider design in this film was actually awesome looking. The chared skull, the bubbling tar leather jacket and the way the flames looked. Just a shame they couldn't make this film work.
Idris in the third act is by far my favorite part. I just love him going in wine and guns out, and his headbutt before his death was baller. “I can still see the light.”

The Danny Ketch GR run is my favorite of the entire GR legacy. The artwork was awesome and he was part of the Midnight Sons as well. I would love to see that story done properly in live action one day.
I think we need to do Johnny Blaze first in the MCU. I know we had Robbie on Agents of Shield but that show is kinda iffy in terms of if it’s canon and Johnny Blaze is very much the most popular Ghost Rider like how Barry Allen is the most popular Flash. The answer your question from 22:02, they weren't redoing the origin......that IS the origin story of Ghost Rider. His lore is so amazing I highly suggest you watch Variant Comics videos about him as well as Comics Explained about his powers. You will fall in love with Ghost Rider more
There’s a theory that says this movie takes place in an alternate universe, separately from the first movie. Norman Reedus is the favorite fan cast as MCU Ghost Rider, I totally see him.
This movie certainly has its merits. Favorite thing is probably how the Rider is depicted. Feels like one of those cheeky horror villains of the past like Krueger and Wishmaster. A lot of personality and chaos.
There is a clip of Nick Cage without the flaming skull cgi with just the 3d mapping dots, if you wanna see just how good Cage really is an an actor, watch that. It's bloody terrifying.
So the scene where he is interrogating the guy at the warehouse is a perfect example of what Johnny blaze has to constantly deal with the rider entity is always inside of him and he always has to hold them back in that instance it was harder because there was a wicked person in front of him
they didn't get rid of the penance stare in this movie they just don't show you from the villains perspective they just show ghost rider staring at them
Reel Rejects going back and watching all the classic Marvel movies is so fun. They've done the Blade trilogy, the Ghost Riders, the Fantastic Fours, Punisher, and Daredevil (like a year ago). Now they need to do Hulk and Elektra (because they skipped that for some reason).
21:57 no this is the actual origin, zarathos is the spirit that possesses a human and makes them a ghost rider and the funny part is he doesn't have his full power when he's a ghost rider, zarathos is like the strongest character in marvel, like he's so strong he killed Galactus by looking at him😂
One really cool thing we get with this movie that we don't get with modern super hero movie is the moments from the point of view of someone on the outside looking in. In this movie when we see ghost rider for the first time we are following Idris Elba seeing him for the first time. And we don't even see him. It's a moment where he isn't even visible he's a horror story of a first trail growing across the distant hill.
Seriously love this film I know it ain’t great but I remember getting the Blu-ray as it released 😂 I’m glad you’ve reacted to this thank you very much 😂
44:05 Thank You for correcting her! It felt weird when she said "early 2000s" like when the movie was supposed to be made. Anyway, wish these directors, Taylor / Neveldine, would have continued their career till know with theatrical releases, but "unfortunately" box office and critical reception are important for a career in that business. They really stand out though with their style of directing between all the other mainstream movies, even Michael Bay movies. I'm anxious to recommend the Taylor / Neveldine movie "Gamer (2009)" because it probably doesn't generate enough views for you (= it is not relevant in any capacity) but I wanna mention it here because there's always a chance I think
My first experience of a 3D movie at the cinema, we went with a friend and I had broken glasses, they showed everything in green, and since we were shy to exchange for normal glasses, we watched the film changing working pair every 10 minutes, in short, not the best experience
i dont understand why some people even hate this movie. Had the most badass ghost rider ever and the only criticism is that there was less ghost rider screen time. but cage did a brilliant job.
I didn't like Ghost Rider 2 when I first saw it as it was very different than the 1st movie so that kinda through me off but over time I grew to love it, it's a kickass high octane gorilla style comic book action movie and a pretty good sequel I like that they went a little crazy with this one cause why the hell not plus nic cage gets to go all out and you got the guys who made crank
fun fact Greg, Idres Alba's character was designed after Heimdall because they weren't sure if they were going to tie this to the MCU, in the end it didn't make sense with Heimdall dying on earth and where the movie took place so they opted for Robbie Reyes in agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was a cool idea though with him seeing the light because of the soul stone.
Thing is Nicolas Cage said after Spirit of Vengeance that he was done with being Ghost Rider, yet honestly Ghost Rider is honestly the perfect role for Nicolas Cage, an unhinged Marvel hero. Honestly both movies were good and didn’t deserve all of the negative reviews it got. Maybe they thought since the fans know what the Penance Stare is they didn’t have to show Ghost Rider making people feel their pain, just yelling in their face
I love this movie. It was BADASS. I honestly prefer this one over the first one. I love both films very much. Nic Cage is the best Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. My only disappointment is that this franchise is no longer continued. Would love to see the Spirit of Justice/blue Ghost Rider in the third film. I hope Nic Cage Ghost Rider somehow enters MCU oneday through multiverse. Want to see more of him. Hope he gets a third film. And you guys are wrong that this film is a reboot. It is a sequel to the first film. It is a continuation. If you see those animated spider-verse type scenes where Johnny was explaining his past those were clearly a recap of the first film. Those animated bike stunt scenes were exactly the same scenes from the first film where Johnny was doing stunts. Johnny just left his love life with Roxxane and moved on to live a life alone, focus more on Ghost Rider and the Devil. And Roxxane also allowed him to go this path at the end of the first film by saying Johnny that he now has a second chance in his life or a new life. So everything fits perfectly. This film is a continuation of the first film.
This movie killed the franchise, it bombed at the box office, $132 million dollars against a $75 million dollar budget. Nic Cage said in an interview that he is done playing the character and all rights reverted back to Marvel Studios, cancelling any chances of a third film.
The amount of chaos and campy in this movie makes it feel like Sam Raimi on coke. Even though it's not a great movie, the design for the Ghost Rider and some of the action sequences were awesome
BAGGER 288!!!!! the giant machine that Ghost Rider engulfed in flames is one of the biggest industrial machines in the world. It’s so awesome someone made a song about it.
I know most people think this one is worse than the 1st movie, and technically they're right, but i like this one way more than the 1st. The action is much better & Nick Cage hams it up way more, which is what the 1st needed.
I’ve seen both Ghost Rider movies a lottt haha. I agree that the first one is definitely the better movie and that the second has some better and cooler elements. It definitely could’ve used more heart as you guys said, I feel like it’d be interesting if they included more of the Spirit of Justice somehow in this movie and if the whole plot went a different route but I don’t know. Anyways, amazing video you guysss!!! This was fun!!🔥😎
Phenomenal reaction as always you guys. This movie is so dope!Nicholas rocked this and Idris Elba is unprecedented. Tara is always amazing. Great job you guys! I absolutely love your show!😎👍🏾👍🏾
What I love about this movie is that they officially made three sides of ghost Rider: Ghost Rider : allows him to control the powers and possess anything making it look bad ass and powerful. And his flames only harm the wicked. Spirit of vengeance : in this form, everything starts to to burn char and broil even his skull has been blackened and his jacket starts to bubble from the heat. he attacks anyone who has done sin, even the smallest and littlest of sins that don't even count as a big deal like a little white lie or illegally downloading music on the Internet. And instead of their bodies are living like with ghost writer in the first movie, this version burns the soul and the body to ashes. Angel Rider : same thing as the ghost writer, but has the ability to revive the dead or heal any wound or ailment, and the human side is in full control. 21:14 darn, I wanted to see your reaction to when he ate the Twinkie
What I think is a real shame is that the directors never really got to do anything after this. Their innovative style with the fantastic Crank films and Gamer with Gerald Butler got them this gig. And simply, because box office wise, Spirit of Vengeance didn't do well at all, they were kind of left behind by hollywood. I know one of the them has a child with former actress Alison Lohman, who ironically burst onto the scene with her superb performance alongside Nic Cage and Sam Rockwell in Ridley Scott's Matchstick Men. But still their craziness from Crank is all over this.
@@SebTheGreat84 they are fun. Let me guess you consider a trash film with a trash actor like Adrien Brody and Pianist a good film. Personally, I will never forgive Brody for an Oscar he never deserved. And especially against Dan Day Lewis' worthy winning Role as Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York
@@jameshaslegrave7989 I don't care one way or the other about the Pianist. Are you going to try and claim the trash directors of Gamer, Crank, and Ghost Rider can compare with Roman Polanski?
i really hope nick cage can play ghost rider again, or play another superhero he like, i know he is in spiderverse, but i really hope he get to play his comic book hero in live action
I love this version of the Ghost Rider more than the first movie because this version acts more like what he actually is: a demon/archangel that is also a fire elemental - it doesn't act natural because it's not of this world/plane Edit: If you pay attention to Carrigan's Decay power, you'll notice that it's only really affective against organic material. The people, the bread and apple, even the sword. But the plastic covering the Twinkie wrapper was made and it's unnatural. If he really tried and focused, he probably could've decayed that too, which is why the stretcher wraps on Danny were slightly decayed, the submachine gun was decayed, but not the rest of Moro's body immediately, and when he put pressure on the windshield of the jeep, it began to crack, but it didn't shatter from his pressing his finger on it.

Dammit I hate how good Greg's Nic Cage impression is 🤣🤣🤣
Reel Rejects going back and watching all the classic Marvel movies is so fun.
Seriously love this film I know it ain’t great but I remember getting the Blu-ray as it released 😂 I’m glad you’ve reacted to this thank you very much 😂
Great Reaction Greg and Tara! This movie is so crazy 👍
Oh yes, Kirian Hinds, the guy who plays Mephisto in this movie, he played Steppenwolf in Justice League.
I think Ghost Rider’s design is the only thing I loved about this one
Nahhh they really upgraded the cgi of ghost rider in this film he was more creepy too😂
The best Ghost has ever looked.
i liked his personality too, he dont give a shit and just want chaos
@@KillerGrim47 what about that badass soundtrack?!
Nic Cage's Ghost Rider will always have a place in my heart.
I prefer this version of ghost rider, he's so scary in this one and i absolutely likes the way he speaks, it's just this spooky whispers
Rhe vfx and the camera work and visuals are phenomenal 👌
My first experience of a 3D movie at the cinema, we went with a friend and I had broken glasses, they showed everything in green, and since we were shy to exchange for normal glasses, we watched the film changing working pair every 10 minutes, in short, not the best experience
ghost rider 2 was such a good movie now that im rewatching it, don't know why people don't like it
i dont understand why some people even hate this movie. Had the most badass ghost rider ever and the only criticism is that there was less ghost rider screen time. but cage did a brilliant job.
His mind became so twisted and demented..itbtook effect on,his soul and that was cool as hell😂😂l
Y'all need to look up behind the scenes pics of Cage on this movie. He wore makeup and a lighting rig to act the part of Ghost Rider lol
I don't know why I love this movie more than 1st one ❤
The actor who plays Mephisto is Steppenwolf in Justice League
The art visuals when Johnny is telling his story reminds me of the infamous games.
A ghost rider animated movie would work so much better than a live action one.
Think this one is leagues above the first one - love how Ghost Rider is realised in this one. Great Early Idris Elba role too.
fun fact Greg, Idres Alba's character was designed after Heimdall because they weren't sure if they were going to tie this to the MCU, in the end it didn't make sense with Heimdall dying on earth and where the movie took place so they opted for Robbie Reyes in agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was a cool idea though with him seeing the light because of the soul stone.
(At 2:02) Oh look! It's what's his name from the _Buffy The Vampire Slayer_ series.
Nic Cage truly brought the demonic psycho nature of the rider...
Nicolas Cage playing Ghost rider again for one more time is my dream come true ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This movie is very goofy but in a way I enjoy. Also they make the rider feel like a psychopath and very unsettling too.
I’m pretty sure the decay power only works on organic things.
Christopher Lambert and Thomas Jane look like they can be brothers because this whole time i thought it was thomas jane
Same here
This movie killed the franchise, it bombed at the box office, $132 million dollars against a $75 million dollar budget.
(At 19:15) This is supposed to be Blackout. Wasn't he supposed to some kind of a vampire?
The spirit of the Ghost Rider was an angel. This is more closer to the comics then the last movie.
Loving these non MCU marvel watches
Non MCU for now 👀 lol
I deeply forgot how entertaining this movie was ~
Plot twist: Zarathos was never actually a demon at all, but an angel of justice.
its a very intresting movie but the action scenes are fire lol
BAGGER 288!!!!! the giant machine that Ghost Rider engulfed in flames is one of the biggest industrial machines in the world. It’s so awesome someone made a song about it.
I feel like if Marvel made a new (recast) ghost rider movie that was borderline horror it could really drum up some interest.
GHOST RIDER SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE was design as a soft Reboot of the series!
Every time they play that sound before the ghost rider comes I feel like I am about to see a dinosaur in the jurassic park/world movies.
I know most people think this one is worse than the 1st movie, and technically they're right, but i like this one way more than the 1st. The action is much better & Nick Cage hams it up way more, which is what the 1st needed.
Imo this is the difinitive Ghost Rider movie.
Johnny can now switch between the two forms.
I remember watching this in theaters and when Nic drinks the wine and says "might be good on a salad" I lost it lolol
Phenomenal reaction as always you guys. This movie is so dope!Nicholas rocked this and Idris Elba is unprecedented. Tara is always amazing. Great job you guys! I absolutely love your show!😎👍🏾👍🏾
I love the new details in this movie, now the skull looks burnt and the leather jacket is like boiling for the heat as well as the pants
What I love about this movie is that they officially made three sides of ghost Rider:
Ghost Rider : allows him to control the powers and possess anything making it look bad ass and powerful.
Lets pump the brakes, in no universe are the Crank films "Great".
I swear I'm a psychic I watched this movie the other day and thought about a real rejects reaction video of this movie.
i really hope nick cage can play ghost rider again, or play another superhero he like, i know he is in spiderverse, but i really hope he get to play his comic book hero in live action
I love this version of the Ghost Rider more than the first movie because this version acts more like what he actually is: a demon/archangel that is also a fire elemental - it doesn't act natural because it's not of this world/plane
Edit: If you pay attention to Carrigan's Decay power, you'll notice that it's only really affective against organic material.
