This chassis is magical, especially in the keyboard and trackpad area. Definitely top of the line ergonomics!
I have the Asus m16 2022 (12900h/3070ti) model and for the price, it is one of the best in 2023.
You can easily get on for $1300-$1400 in the US.
tip: switch to manual power mode and reduce the gpu wattage to keep it relatively quiet while churning.

Calling the pl1 and pl2s keep the shared heatsink in check imo

I just got one. LOVE it! The display is spectacular, and blacks are much deeper than I was expected based on some reviews. With Armoury Crate and different settings, the perceived contrast changes significantly. The full DCI-P3 colours are incredible. Gaming is superb on it- for the games I play, all the Halo games, incl Infinite and Destiny 2. The trackpad feels great to my fingers and I like the feel of the keys. Matte finish and great clarity, colour and contrast make me smile on this. I have zero complaints. Very happy with my purchase.
At $1500, a FHD display is a complete NO for me.

Hey, are those screen hinges good? I dont like how the laptops body is leaning on those. The angle is good but im not sure how stable that is. What are your observations, is it stable while gaming, typing, should I be worried the laptop falling, something (me) hitting it by accident, etc

The 2023 laptops so far have been a bit underwhelming. Incremental upgrades, barely noticeable changes, and in some cases a bit of a downgrade, as seen with the Lenovo Legion chassis.
Blackwell series will be a major upgrade so wait till mid 2024
Huge profits, slightly better performance with the cheapest possible new gen materials equals profit
Not to forget the outrageously higher prices than before for worse performance in the case of 50 and 60 series

i feel like the 4060 is a pretty decent upgrade compared to the 3060, it gets about 10fps more than a 3070 and in frame gen games(which will only increase as the years pass) it dominates (3070 40fps cyberpunk rtx ultra / 4060 90fps cyberpunk rtx ultra)
also better battery with intel so we get thunerbold, hdmi 2.1
i feel like its pretty good performance gains + quality of life improvments for $1.4k

I love how your shirt, Matt, matches the PCB. I'm pretty sure, knowing your videos like I think I do, that that was intentional (also matching nicely with your name in the background). I'm only mentioning this because it seemed also like there was a reddish tint to the entire video. It took nothing away from the production, don't get me wrong, but it seemed a little noticeable. haha ya I have a few purple shirts and when I wear them it matches nicely with the neon sign. Definitely not intentional but it happens! As for the reddish tint I'm messing around with new coloring you'll notice its a bit more contrasty but I noticed the red too. Ill have to tone the reds down a bit for the next one! iGPU performance is still laggs by a good bit though (Intel @ 1050 vs AMD @ 1650)
I suspect 2 hours+ is due to the 1080p display, when everyone else is going QHD. Good marketing as it makes consumers think they are doing something magical when the reality is that it is a downgrade for 2023.
It is on par with last year Ryzen, so impressive stuff from AMD

a couple of questions if you dont mind. Im looking for a gaming portable laptop, (wich is a kind of contradiction), but Im looking for a perfect match, with out sacrifice to much of both worlds.
In the video you mentioned that this laptop can last about 10 hours of office soft workload, is that a fact?
Because if it is, I think we are here in front of one of the best matchs that we can find for power, portability, premium aspects, price friendly, and amazing 16" size display that is another key point for me

really hoping to get this machine, love what theyve done, making it 16:10, fhd+( i just dont need qhd at 16" i'll take better fps ) fram gen is huge for supported games which will only be increasing in number as years pass, from a 3070 with 40fps in cyberpunk to 4060 90fps (rtx ultra) its hugee and even a solid 10 fps bump in non frame gen games. of course there could be improvments like the way the ports are placed, but my thought is that by using the old m16 chasis they can save on cost versus the new chasis designs getting it to that sweeet price if $1449. i was also worried about battery but i saw on ultrabooks review they got up to 8 hours and now you're test of 10 hours, any worry of mine has been blown away. feeling more premium than cheaper msi and acer laptops but keeping the price below the more premium asus, razer and alienware laptops, lenovo is another really good competitor but i prefer the more slim design with bigger trackpad and no num pad. Personally i think its a great purchase for the price and me not being in the US its probably going to be way more expensive here but i think im going to import it adding $200 but this for $1600 is still going to be way better value than anything i could find here $1800+ for last gen stuff, but yeah hope to get it soon! upgrading from a 720p screen and mx150 is going to be amazing😭

Glad you're showing fps of some racing games like Dirt V and F1 2022. Most other reviewers neglect driving/racing games. It's really helpful for people like us who mostly play driving games.

I was going to mention the lack of a full size sd card reader, but after seeing the processor choice and display color gamut, this is aimed at being a relatively budget (as budget as possible for a 4060 nowadays anyway) gaming laptop. It's not a creator laptop. It's not for me - and that's totally fine :)
yeah i feel likewith the fhd+ screen and gamut + lower price its more for the average consumer. as someone who doesnt do professional work i prefer the micro sd card since i can slot one in for more storage and it doesnt stick out or anything
It has a micro card reader in the computer and you can always get an attachment to read larger SD cards.

@@mynameishonestly Runs smooth, but definitely recommend a cooling stand that has ability to be elevated off the desk and has at least 4-5 fans built in, gets kind of hot about 1.5 - 2 hours in, also when running external monitor have it plugged in to AC power.
I feel like last years all AMD g14 had the most bang for your buck as it is a VERY powerful gaming laptop but also very efficient as it is all amd.

In my opinion a laptop that can handle at least 7 hours of office work deserves to be called a laptop. Anything below that threshold is more of a desktop replacement. So yes I'd be willing to pay more just to get a few more hours. Also I'd like to know more about how the battery was tested especially on more bloated systems because of how big of a difference it can make to the overall battery life.
yeah im also curious on how battery was tested, ultrabook review also tested and managed to get about 8 hours which is still pretty good

I have a g14 2020 model I game on in multiple times a week and so far no issues with the screen
always thought g and m series were basically the intel and amd versions
All they had to do was make the m16 with a ryzen processor and this would have been a top 3 laptops of 2023

Of course. I live in a humid climate, and AC on vs AC off makes a noticeable difference in temps
I have the 2022 m16. I wanted my primary setup to have power but also to be sexy and portable. Mission accomplished with the g16. It is super loud when gaming but i dont care at all, never been a fan noise person. No hd display was a bummer super cool they fixed that problem. It a great system. G15 seemed small and hot plus i was reading about glitchy hardwear for the 2022 model g15 when doing my research. I needed portablility but if you dont need it your obviously way better off buying a desktop pc, WAY more power for the money😊

These new models… makes me want to hug my 2021 G15 and M16 more. Don’t know why, but that’s the vibe I’m getting from 2023 models.

honestly man. my 2021 Acer Swift X has been fairing so good. 2021 was the best year for laptops imo. from then on its just been not much improvements/unavailability smh

I'm so confused trying to figure out what best gaming laptop to get currently (july 2023) from Best Buy or Amazon with a budget no higher than usd$2,700.
The reviews are all over the place and I'm not too much tech savvy to begin with.
I'd like to future proof a little, though what I would play is Elden Ring, Spider-Man 1-2, etc with high texture mods.

I'd look for are; intel i9 or Ryzen 9 CPU, RTX 4060 or 4080 GPU, 1 TB SSD, 16 or 32 GB Ram. Now, what brand and model you go with comes down to your priorities and preferences i.e screen size, screen refresh rate, battery life, aesthetic, keyboard, weight etc. Once you figure out what your desired specs are I'd make a list of 3-5 laptops within your budget then go out to retail stores to experience them in-hand.
@AwesomeAsian129 thanks for the advice, guess the minimums I'd look for would be: screen 16", 16GB Ram, 1 TB storage, refresh >=120, >= 4.8GHz. For i9 or R9 not sure what is best, I read R9 but drains power, RTX 4060 - 4080 I think is a toss between budget and the rest of specs.
For weight idc if heavy cause it'll be at table all the time, kb and lights i'd rather not be bright would turn them off, what I wasnt sure how to search for is the cooling system (havent seen a named parameter about it like "search i9" etc), and it would be almost all the time plugged and on (im afraid of temperature or fire hazards tbh, or blue screen of d3ath).
NGL I stopped researching at the moment cause I think rebates and the like are coming in the next few months for the holidays, well at least that is what I expect lol

I've been using the M16 (2022) for a year now. There's really no problem with the air hitting the lcd.
In the UK the Zephyrus g16 comes with an i7-12700H instead of an i7-13620H. Looking at benchmarks performance seems similar but I'm not sure how battery life will be impacted.
Also does anybody know if the UK version has 8GB soldiered and an 8GB stick or 16GB soldiered?

I bought this laptop. Keyboard would randomly not work. After a week of trying drivers, windows reinstalls, regedit etc, I returned it. Seems like a ton of people have had similar issues

I'm in the UK and have been looking to buy a gaming laptop for about 3 years. Every time I start researching, there are too many variables and I end up waiting. I don't need the latest and greatest and want to spend around £1000 max. A must have for me is upgradeable ram
And a machine which doesn't overheat and then get throttled...if it does then what is the point...
Razer don't put vents on the side on Blade 16 and its thermal performance is just fine.
So, you know, it is not really the case that Asus HAS to make the side IO config this awful.

I think the 2021 did an amazing job of battery life I still own that one and usually getting 11 to 12 hours battery life.
yh, but the m16 is a totally different experience, if i try i can push 5 hours out of this, but multitasking, itll last about 3 hours before i have to plug it in.

How do you feel about the Dell XPS 15 with a 3050 and a 16GB RAM compared to G16?
3050 is garbage it's not good enough to even run constant 60fps on most games at high settings at 1080p. get the 60 or higher. Also, XPS is ridiculously overpriced because it is a 'premium' notebook aimed at professionals, so unless you really need that better colour gamut for your work, or really really like super thin laptops, get the G16

my mom is gonna buy me a laptop in a few months if my grades are up to par (up to par is pretty high though, but nothing a little hard work can do), and hopefully the g15 will still be on sale, if not marked down even lower.
otherwise, this certainly seems like a great alternative! that 4060 laptop gpu and FHD 16 by 10 display certainly does sound enticing, though if the g15 is still available and at an even bigger discount, I think I'd still get that one.

@@therealbilaal8758 he didn't say what kind of testing. If it was a mix of wifi browsing and watching Netflix, that's very light on the system, and Intel can run very efficiently at some light loads or idle.

Weird that they chose to shave a few dollars there, and also just have single-rank ddr4, slashing bandwidth.
How did you managed to get 7+ hours of battery life from G15? I have RTX3070 Ti model and I can get a max of 3.5-4 hours of watching TH-cam videos in 1080p at 50% brightness. Nvidia GPU is disabled and the laptop is in Silent mode. All other apps other than Chrome are closed.

mostly gaming? strix. everything else? zephyrus. Ofc u can play as well with zephyrus, but strix stick better into hardcore gaming. Personally i prefer Zephyrus design

A bit confusing for me. I had to look at this video again to confirm what I saw on the Puget published benchmarks page.
It seems the M16, G16, and ProArt Studiobook all perform worse this year on their Photoshop benchmark compared to last years model…
Could this be due to a new benchmark test? All of Asus’s other created capable laptops have increased by a decent amount year by year.
Can’t tell if they’ve actually gotten worse or something else going on. Shocked they would score anything under 1000 on the Photoshop test.
Hell, the 2021 AMD G14 scored an avg of 1,100… but mid 800s for G16, high 900s for M16, and high 700s for ProArt! That’s worse than my 3 year old Lenovo ThinkPad!

I mean most laptops you’re really only able to upgrade the ram and ssd anyways… I understand how having one ram soldered means it’s harder to run the dual channel config but me personally I run an 8gig +32Gig setup (lmao) on the 2021 model and it’s completely fine

@@shahriarhakim6673 What so messy about it? Ive opened my G15 2021 model a bunch of times, I don't think its too bad. Some of the screws are different lengths so you have to keep track of them but that's about it.

Anyone with this model? I have bought and on the first day after several windows + BIOS updates, the wifi icon gone! I did everything. Downgraded BIOS, reset windows, but nothing helped. Please! It is now 4th day and I had to give it back to the store. Does this happen to anyone else?

Please try updating all drivers from My Asus and also update windows... Am I only one who faced this issue?
that IO placement is already a no-go for me. plug in ethernet, an external monitor, charger, headphones and it's going to look ridiculous with no way to route cables

Great laptop. I can buy ssd's and ram i wanted something no conspicuous that can game with a real premium keyboard trackpad and chasis. A lot of other laptops pack specs but when you feel them out, they're flimsy with crooked plastic keycaps and a a little platicy trackpad

@@RiverHeights I think it's good because I have a laptop that is 2014 model and running on intel 7th gen so I am considering a 2023 rtx 49 series m16 because I liked it from the start and it's just my personal preference and I think it's worth it

Didn't the g15 from last year have a qhd display? I'm sure they said the g16 comes with a qhd display as well. 🤔
It does come with qhd if you pay more but last year base model started with qhd
I have it with i7 12700H 14 cores so not sure what you're talking about

Wait why is your G16 165hz while mine is 240hz with nebula display? Whats the model of ur G16
It varies by region, but here in the UK, only the 4070 model gets an i9 and the nebula display.
