    Revis is one of a few examples in the NFL that stats don't always reflect greatness. Sure, sure, a great QB or RB will have the stats to show it. Revis might not have 70 interceptions, but that's because QBs stopped throwing anywhere near him.

    People don't understand, back in 09, '10 he WAS the Jets defense, especially in Rex's system. He would follow the other teams number 1 and virtual eliminate them from the game and rex would roll the rest of the coverage to other receivers while sending the house on a blitz. It was crude but effective ONLY with a player like Revis. Once he was gone, Rex's defense also went with him. It was truly a treat watching Revis eliminate so many big names from being effective week after week: Moss, Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens...the lists goes on. Stats don't tell the whole story. Teams just stopped throwing to his side which cuts the field and a QB's options for the rest of the game.

You can find the whole game on here by searching "Aliquippa Football vs Northern Lehigh" (youtube keeps removing links from comments). Was a great game that came down to the last possession. What set Revis apart from so many other CBs was his awareness. Not only did he have the technique to play the position, but he had the awareness to make the play before the play happens. Not like every CB you see nowadays who yeah, could be on a receiver like glue, but won't take his eyes off the receiver and still fails to rip the ball outta his hands. Sad to see all the bum ass CBs in the game today

    Only if you had Randy Moss being man to man covered by Darrelle Revis would you even think about throwing to that side of the field. Anyone else you can forget it because Revis was going to make throwing the football to whichever side of the field he was on exponentially difficult with his agility and athleticism at the corner position.

    • @TheEdub1
      @TheEdub1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      U gotta be kidding me u clearly don't know your history. Revis had a great year but not the best. Night Train Lane had 14 interceptions in a season, Lester Hayes and a few other players had 13 all in a non passing heavy era. In 1994 Deion Sanders had 6 interceptions for 303 yards averaged over 50 yards a pick and had 3 touchdowns, won defensive player of the year and the Super Bowl in 14 games. Pass deflection stats weren't tracked in those years.

This coming from a Jets fan, but even if i wasn't a Jets fan, I'd still think he's the greatest CB of all-time. He was THE lockdown corner. Let us Jets fans hope that Sauce Gardner can be at least half as good as Revis was.

    I hear what yal saying about Deion but to be completely realistic, his comp at WR wasn’t nearly what it was when Revis played. To have locked down Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens multiple times in one season is INSANE. Nobody like him ever

    • @TheEdub1
      @TheEdub1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Sterling Sharpe, Andre Reed, Michael Irvin, James Lofton, Chris Carter, Art Monk etc weren't great enough smh. This is the NFL they both played against great elite WR. Deion played In a non heavy passing era which makes what he did even more impressive. Deion was man to man no safety over the top. Qb's threw less at Deion than they did Revis I've seen both their entire careers. Deion could intercept the ball and score from anywhere on the field. As well as being a top kick and punt return man. And was a good WR and ran reverses. Deion was so good when he played the Raiders in 96 it was their strategy to run Deion deep and tire him out. And they had some of the fastest WR ever in the league with James Jett (former track olympian), Rocket Ismail, and of course Tim Brown all at WR.

    I will die on the hill that peak darrelle revis is the greatest lockdown db ever. Deion will always hold the title as greatest DB ever but that was due to being an athletically gifted and being a playmaker on all sides of the ball. Deion could get away with poor technique and was basically out there ball hawking and running routes for the receivers. Revis on the other hand was a master of technique, he truly took the best player on every team completely out of the game which allowed for the rest of the jets defense to do their thing.

    watching this just reminds me of how great nfl defenses used to be. Revis was a great corner & last true lockdown corner but i miss the elite defenses. Nfl is so offensive friendly that ppl forget how hard it would be for a ton of players if this was the 80s 90s early 2000s & even 2007-2015. Elite defenses will be missed.
