    Drove this and the mazda3 hatch recently... I wanted to love the mazda but I didn't.
    The Civic was significantly faster and handles better imo.
    Civic cabin is lighter and visibility is way better... the mazda3 feel is dark and tight (which some people might like) with honestly bad visibility in the hatch
    Also, the Civic has more cargo space and it's not the same ballpark... the mazda cargo space is tiny.
    The mazda looks great and the interior design is nice.

    We really like our 2020 Civic Sport Sedan manual with the 6 speed manual and the K20C2 engine no turbo no GDI, Never had a problem with it so far 🇺🇸👍. But I did upgrade the headlights to Morimoto XB LED headlights and smoked taillights lights with the sequential turn signals and the sequential side markers.

  • @psewgobind
    @psewgobind 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Your shifting seems as quick as mine, but I think it's better to lift-off the gas a tad quicker. Not sure with other cars, but with the Genx Civic, making sure you get off the gas first doesn't slow you down and bonus reduction on pesky front-drive chirp. However, ugly rev hang is still there, something I don't experience with my 2.0L 6MT Sedan (I might have subconsciously adjusted to it, but it's definitely not as bad as that 1.5t).
    That Touring Sedan did seem slower. It might be a weight thing, but I think it'd be at a disadvantage against my 2.0L 6MT that only wieghts 2770lb and accelerate to 5800 to 6800 rpm in a blink (lower gears). Another factor is brake-in..mine's at peek power with about 60k on the odo... Japanese port injection tend to take awhile before they start getting quick, while direct-inject needs tlc.

    • @argen809
      @argen809 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2.0 engine is direct injection as well it’s not port injection all of Honda’s engines are direct injection

    • @psewgobind
      @psewgobind 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@argen809 2.0L k20C02 engine is an old school engine that was brought back by Honda. It used to be the RSX 2.0L but modernized. It's port injection and shares the same engine block as the Type-R. (whoever, type-r is direct injection). North America Formula 4 uses the same engine in their race cars. It might not have the Turbo boost as the 1.5T (which is direct injection) but it's a proven engine for race situations and like to hang-out at the redline. Most people are running it with a cvt transmission, but when you hook it up with 6MT, it has more personality.

      The Honda 1.5 is hands down the best motor in the small displacement category . Has oil sprayers for the pistons and cylinder walls which cools and lubricates= Longevity. Has a patented design crosshatch pattern on the cylinder walls to reduce friction consequently heat= Longevity. Has a water cooled exhaust pre turbo for cooler operating = Longevity. Has injector ports slightly aimed at the intake valves to keep them clean of carbon = Longevity. List goes on. Its a motor designed for a turbo and GDI starting with block. The oil dilution is totally over blown. Some of the first motors in the northern states had some issues because people were starting their cars making short runs and they had no time to warm up. This in turn would not let the oil get hot enough to evaporate the extra fuel that gets dumped at start. Since these motors are designed to run cooler it takes more time to warm them up. To solve this issue one needs to change oil every 5000 miles during the winter instead of 7 or at least keep an eye on the dip stick once and awhile. Summers are no problem in fact these motors eat it up for the reasons listed. 99.9% of the people won't have a dilution issue with these motors because they get warmed up and Honda did a redesign of the programming -another reason not to buy new production models of an engine . If I lived there I'd put a plastic cover over my radiator like a diesel truck but on the inside during the winter months. If you want to spend a few extra bucks you can install the thermo operated vents to really dial it in.
      Hell even Toyota needs to add an extra injector to the intake of their GDI motor to keep their intake valves clean which adds another level of complication and has only acquit cooling. Seems like an after thought solution to GDI carbon build up. Watch for a redesign.
      If I was in the market for a compact car this year I'd by the Honda Hatch with the 6 spd but their CVT's are pretty solid and they have paddle shifters to play with. First, all the hatches are produced in 1 factory located in England( Serious quality control). Inside they have alot of room for the compact segment without being big outside. They handle great, (Mazda 3's have that old school torsion tube rear suspension and that compression timed spark motor) they have enough power to get you in trouble without going crazy and sacrificing durability, and they have a good price point for what your getting. Hell go thru Costco and save a few bucks because you will need to order a 6sp hatch and wait a few months. Fing resale is unbelievable. Just buy new and get the warranty along with having only 1 longshoremen's fart on the seat. Looks. If I bought one I'd by the Sport model and save my money for gas. Hell who needs a Vac-U-Jack or heated rear seats of the touring. Next I'd paint the black fake vents the same color as the body along with the spoilers. It really tones down the ricer look. I think the front is fine stock but I think the rear gets in your face and painting them does take it down a notch. Heck its a Honda they are coming up with 50 different inserts and some that really work. I really don't care that much because the mechanical's shine for a compact at this price point and because they designed the motor to take a turbo and GDI starting with the block and they are rolling with 300,000 no problem. Thats my take.

      Might be similar situation like the Accord 2.0T. The 2.0T Accord uses the same engine as the Type-R, but they can't just do a body swap to make an Accord Type-R. The Northern American made Accord uses a Japanese wiring harness, and it is not compatible with the German made sensors and ECU/computers.
      This was mentioned in an interview with Hondata about how Honda *could* make, and revive the Accord Type-R.
      Hatchbacks are made in the UK, and it might be a pain in the ass to make it work with the North American electronics, etc.

    • @jeangt9865
      @jeangt9865 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the thing about Honda & Toyota is the automakers are aware that many wanted to drive a manual because of what manual tends to do like if you don't release the clutch slowly or simultaneously hit the gas, the car can stall and in some cases it can jerk when your try to switch between 1st to 2nd or even 3rd in rare cases.
      So what manufacturers have done is they have almost deleted the initial stall so even if you release it slowly or dump the clutch the car in most cases will not stall, rather it would kinda encourage you to now step on the accelerator pedal inorder to move forward (almost similar to what we see in automatic cars as in when we shift in to 'D' the car wouldn't stall or jerk but would kinda move forward).
      Secondly they have also kinda addressed in deleting the jerkiness while shifting gears, so you can now pretty much shift the gears smoothly without much hassle and have a more relaxed and fun experience.

      @riley1733 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @maychieus It's hard to find a standard in any vehicle these days. I got lucky to find an LX that was a standard. As for the Si, the Si's only come in standard. However, Honda ruined the Si with the atrocious rev hang so I highly recommend staying far away from that car until Honda fixes it. If you want a standard Civic, stick with the LX. I wish I had. I bought an Si after the LX and I regretted it because of the rev hang. The LX doesn't have that issue and the car is way more fun to drive because of it. In my opinion, the LX is Honda's best standard transmission vehicle.

    Rev hang sucks, all new manuals are guilty of it. Emissions Regs.

      @riley1733 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not all newer standards have it. I had a 2018 LX Coupe that was a standard and there was no rev hang in that car and I currently drive a 2023 WRX and my WRX has no rev hang whatsoever. The only vehicles I've driven that had it are the Si's and a Jeep Wrangler.
