  • The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring is now available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, they sent us one that doesn't shift. M.S.R.P. - $29,780.

    Subscribed! Honda did a great job with this generation of Civic. It is an amazing platform and the civic is a very competent car. Also Honda deserves more credit for saving the manual.

    I love you straight to the point review. No fluff. I love this car, I love the physical buttons especially temp control but I really wish Honda would include 2 or 4 way lumbar support on these.

    It feels insanely better in the 6MT. Test drive a CVT and bought the 6MT just 5 days ago. CVT was fine, manual is awesome.

    I own the Sport Touring and the attention to detail in the upholstery is really nice, the moonroof glides quickly back and I like the pull cover for when you don't want sunshine in the car. I'm easily getting 32-34 mpg combined driving. I personally like the side camera when I go to make a right hand lane change, with the bars showing me exactly how many car lengths behind to the nearest vehicle behind me. Other reviews say the navigation system a bit laggy, but I haven't found that to be the case. The alloy petal is definitely a sporty addition. One thing I don't like is the way down steering wheel adjustment, took a bit to even find the lever! The car has plenty of get up and go, and I've owned both the 350Z and 370Zs, so trust me I know get up and go. Highly recommend this car, and as everyone knows, great maintenance records. Very dependable car.

    I have this car in Crystal Black ❤️ only things that annoy me are: the touchscreen, no AC to the rear passengers (keeping the car warm in the back and cool up front) (need better air circulation maybe?), and a high shift knob

    I much prefer buttons and knobs instead of all these touch screens, also don't like CVT's and if I lived in a cold climate this car would be out of the question due to the oil dilution problems Honda has with the 1.5 turbo.

    Just one question with that HP can you get on a busy HWY fast enough safely?

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, 180-hp is plenty for everyday driving, Mike 45. It's not what we would call fast, but it's just fine for a car of this size. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

      @@AutoAcademics I’m torn between this the Veloster N, and BRZ
      I’m looking for a sporty & practical car for weekend driving taking a ride to Miami type, I know the BRZ is the less practical though.
      If it was your money what would you pick?
      And is the CVT reliable?

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mike-cu6gk This Honda would be the most practical of the 3 you mentioned. It's more comfortable and quieter, too. To be honest, while it's sporty, this Hatchback Sport Touring isn't even in the same category as the other two. The Hyundai and Subaru are more sports cars than this Civic is. If you really want to get edgy, check out the Veloster N. That's available as a 6-speed manual OR a DCT and it is lovely. Definitely more aggressive and faster than the other two, but won't beat you up like a Focus RS, either. The BRZ is nice, too, but doesn't have the power of the Veloster N. In case you didn't see it, we reviewed the Veloster N a couple of months ago. Check out that review when you get the chance and it may help you see what I'm talking about. I’m thinking the Veloster N would be the one, more HP and you have a bit more cargo room in case I need it.

    What it will do is cost 200.00 every 30000 miles along with a shortened life real smart. If enough people turn against Honda they will drop the CVT they already have on the accord.

  • @lapstreet21
    @lapstreet21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    can anyone explain to me why cvt's are not good?

    • @Anakin0217
      @Anakin0217 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s nothing ‘not good’ per-say, but some people prefer a more engaging driving experience in which the CVT does not compete with a manual transmission.
      I own a 10th generation Civic with a CVT because other people have to drive it as well, and I still have fun in it, but going manual would be more engaging though. The CVT has better gas mileage and is VERY easy to drive if that’s what you’re into.
      A CVT is basically a automatic transmission without any gears. Hope this helps!
