I was married to someone who couldn't hold a job because, like Lucas, his ego and attitude wasn't supported by his abilities. Luckily, he liked that I made good money and had a work ethic. He decided he could be a "house husband"... only he didn't cook, do laundry, clean or take care of the baby. At some point I realized he had no redeeming qualities. Not a one... and lots of unredeeming ones. Ladies, never quit your job. Make sure you can at least support yourself... maybe not fabulously but enough.
He's the child. He's calling her stupid, but he can't keep a job, and she can. She is a valued employee. He always thinks he is right but he's definitely in the wrong.
Or maybe some couples only need one person to work. Maybe the husband or maybe the wife. Maybe both. There's nothing wrong with one staying home and taking care of the children and housework.
Better yet, keep your independence and do not get married. That way you do not have to share, make decisions together or deal with another's opinions, wants or needs. Do not give in to this whole marriage lifestyle. Keep your independence.

I actually know someone like Lucas. She has always thought she was the smartest person in the room, even when she was a six year old. She thought no one had the right to tell her what to do and that she knew more about everything than anyone else, even her teachers. In actuality she was book smart, she had a good memory, but could not apply the knowledge and things that were common sense were completely unknown to her. She quit high school because, ‘they have nothing to teach me’ , as she kept declaring. She has worked cleaning and waitress jobs since then. She never keeps a job for long because she always ends up fighting with her co-workers and bosses because, as she says, they were really stupid. She is fifty years old and nothing has changed. She also thinks she is the cutest and sexiest woman in the room which is a complete delusion.
Reminds me of a coworker a couple of years ago, she thought she was all that, always bragged about how she used to be a manager at a motel, and when you pointed out her mistake she would say "No I didn't". Funny thing is when I checked the reviews of said motel where she worked... they were 1 star reviews
Lucas reminds me of my older sister's ex. He always spoke to her like she was stupid. We finally convinced her to leave him when he used his work boot to slap her oldest across the face.
Suddenly, I am being reminded of the time I overheard a conversation between my sister and one of her ex's. He hated that she went & got a job at his old workplace, and he wasn't able to keep a job. (They were together for 3 years, and he had about 6 jobs in that time + he was apparently doing a college course... all he did was play my nephews PS2, and complain about everything.
