    Long time watcher first time commenter ;-)
    Few things - I do PWE shipping ($27 average sale price so I have a mix of low to high end) mostly in 6x6 cardboad mailer and tape the toploader right were the built in tape is - most of the envelope ends up flexible and i dont have issues for up to 1/4 inch in toploader size. If i have a low end card i will do envelope shipping but never more than 2 cards in a thin toploader or a cardsaver.
    Also I recommend always charging for shipping. Main reason is the buyer does not pay taxes on shipping cost - only on the item cost. If you have a $1 item and $3 PWE shipping the buyer will pay $.09 in taxes (California), vs. $4 item and $.36 in taxes. So its more for the buyer. Also Ebay charges final value fee on the final value which is Card cost + Shipping + Taxes (yes you pay extra fee if you have to charge them taxes - it's CRAZY). In this example of a $4 total cost card by saving $.27 in taxes for the buyer you as a seller save $.03 in fees per item. This is actually about what you would save if you were Top Rated +. Everything adds up right? This basically helps pay for the envelopes or other supplies.
    Additonally this strategy allows me to price a card at $20 and Charge $3 for PWE shipping - its as if I am charging $22 for the card and saving the buyer another $1 on shipping. So They buy a card for $23 - instead of me charging $22+$4 shipping ($26 before taxes).
    I find that most buyers are just looking for specific cards and don't do multiple items but i always combine shipping and am willing to lose some profit (on the $2 extra shipping) for moving the volume. I would say try out doing some $.01 auctions and do shipping at $1.5 or whatever the amount is.
    Hope you enjoyed the deep down geek out,

    Since April I’ve been using cheaper envelopes with eBay standard envelopes. No issues with damage. Prior to this I was using rigid CD mailers I would cut in half. Starting late March I was getting a bunch back and needed to switch.

      The machines recently damaged a bunch of mail and they were postcards with rips and swirl marks

    I think timing depends on your handling time. I try to get cards packed up the same day and sent out next even though I have a 2 day handling time.

    Mine is always under the quarter inch. It is the FLEX... If you get it to go and other end deems it to be not FLEX enough your customer will be charged $5. I have had it happen to me many times. Just use a CardSaver .. never have an issue now. I used to have an issue 1 or of 50 or so. The Postal Worker have NO IDEA.

      I have sent over 40,000 cards through cardsavers in the last three years. I may have had 8 damaged cards in that time. I used to top laoders and they were damaged alot more often. They do get stuck in the machines and you get those WE CARE plastic bags with a mangled card...

    I had lots of troubles with the standard envelopes at first. It always depended on the person there. I avoid all that and drop all standard envelopes in the box. I do not take them inside. Just drop them in the box. I have had 0 issues since i started doing that

      Man the post office said they don't scan the standard envelope cards only if they have a 1st class label.

    Your post office will have a template they use to see if an envelope is to thick to go through before shipping. When I was at my local post office I asked for one and they gave me one that I now have next to my desk. It’s basically just a cardboard cutout I can slide my envelopes through whenever I am questioning if it is too thick or not.

    So far about 4 claims of this eBay forcing me to charge priority which I’d hate to do.

    Great vids. I’ve been selling cards on eBay for 20 years. I recently switched to standard envelopes but still use Armalope for cards that are over $10 or so. I agree it’s worth piece of mind for the customer

    I honestly don't know why so many people get bent out of shape about the inconsistency at the USPS. All of life is like this. The law is 45mph on a certain road, but you drive 50 and get pulled over 3 times. You get let go with a warning each time. Then a 4th time you get a ticket and flip out because you got a ticket. In fact, most will tell the officer they get pulled over all the time and let go. Moral of the story, just roll with the person to person discretion.

      Switched from top loaders to card savers and yet to have an issue. I call this out in my description and the buyer can send a photo and will file a pip and refund them. Pre-ESE I use to ship in top loaders with a Butterfly. Now because they have to be machine processable for the spotty tracking the card savers make sense. Any way you slice it is a sub $20 card mostly sub $5 for the majority of us. I think many are over thinking it.

    I've only had one issue with ESE. It was a thicker card, but I reprinted the label and tried again and it went through.

    I tried shipping an overseas pkg. Was losing nothing on shipping this time, but they couldn't get the label to print at the Post office. So they used my handwritten customs form. I was there 1/2 hour. I would like to use the USPS website, but they are NOT flexible. and I have to do everything in person. Most offices only have one available clerk.

      @TheFlippingSportsGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      damn, that sucks!! how long do you wait on average when getting your labels printed at the post office? or was it just this one because it was overseas?

      @@TheFlippingSportsGuy They had a computer issue. For a foreign item, they have to type in a lot so maybe 10 mins. The post office to avoid are that do visa applications/processing whatever you need for traveling outside US.

    Thanks for the great content. The customer service at my post office is not the best. I have figured out if I take all of my shipping over to the UPS store and have the post office pick up at the UPS store my customers get their cards two days quicker. My orders never goes inside the building and go straight on the truck when the driver gets back with their pick ups for the day. Just some advice in case someone else wants to try it out. It has worked really well for me. Thank you for your time. Good luck with your shipping.

    I've noticed your using 1/4 sheets of paper to wrap your shipments is there a reason why you don't use half sheets of paper since a lot of time you use 2 of them, I've been using half sheets of paper, and it fits the envelope a lot more snug and would eliminate the use of the tape you use on the sides I tape the card to the paper then I roll it 3 times and tape the flap down. just curious pretty much same as you do for the #10 envelopes for the quantity sales you have.

    • @TheFlippingSportsGuy
      @TheFlippingSportsGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      talking about that in the next video!! long story short though its come down to a habit of 10+ years of always having 1/4 sheet pieces of scrap paper laying around
