MORE GERMAN CANDY! With everything going on and supermarkets being sold out of certain items, we've noticed some items remain fully stocked, like candy! We wanted to try some of the "off brand" candy that we've seen at ALDI and Netto. We ended up finding some good budget options for us! Let us know if you've tried any of these and what's your favorite! 😍

Those store brands are often produced by brand companies (not necessarily the ones they compete with though). Basically on the same assembly lines

U have to try the "Milch Mäuse" also from Aldi, its the same brand like the "Milch Jumbo", these are comparable to Schoko Bons.

The other "Kinder Schokolade Riegel" in just the tinfoil wrap taste a lot better than the ones you´ve bought in the plastic wraper, they got a better schokolade to milk cream ratio.
My favorit Brand is ,,Moser Roth" Edel Bitter, 85% Cacao. This Brand is from Berlin, and this from ALDI.

KitKats are made using the type of chocolate that Americans prefer ... Hershey's taste 🍫
It's not the taste we Europeans like, it seems almost like 3 month old stale sour chocolate that went "off" ... They even tried a new recipe, but we still don't really go for it 😐

Hershey was the first to use fresh milk instead of powdered milk like what the Europeans used for milk Chocolate, but Mr. Hershey tasted one of the first iterations before the process was fully developed, but Mr. Hershey said he liked it and don't change the process(Food That Built America on the History Channel). I like Green&Black's 70% chocolate.

My favourite candy bar would be a reeses peanut butter cup, man I love those even though, they're hard to get in germany.
I don't like Mars, Snickers and Twix. But out of these three I would choose Twix. I like (the european) Milky Way and Kitkat the most. Phil should try the "Lindt Lindor Kugeln". One of the best chocolate for me. You should do a Swiss candy video. There are so many swiss products. Like Kägifret which is like a Kitkat

most of the off brand items are the same just in a different packaging. just look at the adress from the producer at the back side. there is a little hint like hergestellt für... (produced for...)
Chateau and Moser-Roth, both are ALDI chocolate brands belong to Storck (Knoppers, Toffifee, Super Dickmann's, Werther's Origial, Nimm 2).
So I would expect quality from them.
Very often brands sell their products also as off brands to increase the sells
The best one is the cheap version of Tofffifee from Lidle xD

Knoppers definitly is better than Hanuta, it`s like Kinder Riegel and Duplo, the ones with milk are better, always!

As an American, I have to say that I find most American-produced candies to be way too sweet for my taste. Maybe that's because my father was born and raised in Germany. (The main exceptions are York Peppermint Patties, Almond Joy, and Mounds.) I much prefer higher cocoa content, up to 85%/90%. Lindt and Ghirardelli are good, but my local Aldi carries Mosser Roth, which is comparable at half the price. I also like the Chocuer brand they carry. I also like the fact that they stock a lot of German items that are hard to get in my area (upstate New York), such as decent lebkuchen, spekultius cookies, and stollen, at reasonable prices. Sadly, they're usually only available during the Christmas season.
Have a good recovery! I suggest to drink some water inbetween (perhaps even sparkling?) to get rid of the taste. Tis way ypou are better prepared to taste the things. And perhaps don't get sick just by thinking of chocolate.

Many of the "off-brand" products from Aldi are literally made by the same factory. They won't even switch the ingredients, they just change to the new wrapping with another name mid production.
This is true for many of the Aldi stuff without any brand on them. Also, milk and milk products like yogurt come from a few large processing factories, they will also switch from Aldi label to the expensive Edeka or Rewe label in the middle of filling it into the packaging.
not dompletely true. its not just the package. they change some of the ingredients to for cheaper ones.

I love the "new" Knoppers Riegel. It is like a lite Chocolat bar but very tasty

I love "Reeses Peanut Buttercups" from the US (this mixture of chocolate and peanutbutter makes addicted, I could eat a kilogram!). In Germany you mostly will not find it in stores, but you can order it in the Internet.
You forgot the no name "Schoko-Küsse" from Aldi (one says there is Dickmann behind) in comparison with "real" Dickmanns. :-)
Reeses gibt's doch in fast jedem Laden mittlerweile (finde die extrem ekelhaft!, obwohl ich Peanutbutter und Schoko eigtl mag)
Snickers is the best of the Mars chocolate bars.But for a while Bounty was absolutely my favorite. Hanuta and Knoppers are both nice, Kinder Riegel is a way better than Duplo in my opinion. And I think Kinder Schokolade and Kinder Riegel are pretty similar, but Kinder Schokolade isn't that big, so it has less milk filling but it tastes more of vanilla.
Would be a good idea to present the price at the same base, for example 100g. The reproduction versions mostly have more fill weight.

Am I the only one who finds it so sad that people sell MILK as cheap as possible? It's at least the work and life of a cow who got raped several times, her calfs where taken away from her and the males often slaughtered. Than she had to give milk about twice a day in pain!! Without enough space and treated like an object or a machine and then she gets raped and pregnant again and her child will be taken away for her again and finally after about 6 years of ages she will get slaughtered. (Btw she could have get 20 years old) And they actually sell this for literally nothing. And it's not even real needed food, it's just a snack. (From nestle!) Kitkat is good. German does have the famous candy - gummy candy, bear shape. But they don't have luxury brand of Chocolate, Belgian has several.

Thank you, Phil! You're so right, Duplo IS too underrated. What I do love the most about it is that its sweetness is very light. The other bars are mostly way to sweet, in my opinion.

I just can't get behind Knoppers. Whenever I try it, I get the feeling that fat is covering my tongue. So for me it's Hanuta all the way! "Kinder Schokolade is the best chocolate" hurt me a little =;-)) Sure I eat it too, but as far as chocolate goes for me it's way inferior to Lindt and even Milka. Too sweet, no real chocolate taste. However I completely agree on the addictiveness of Kinder Schoko Bons! I love the little crunch and can't stop eating them, once I start.

I am living in the States now and am definitely missing most of the "Kinder" prodcuts, such as Kinder Schoko Bon and Kinder Riegel.
Another thing: For some reason, I don't see Mars here in the States, no matter to which grocery store I go (Walmart, Wegmans, Harris Teeter). I prefer it to Snickers, which I see everywhere.🙃
