    Thanks buddy, solid advice throughout. I love that you keep pounding on that you are teaching us how to read the market and react, whereas I am sure 80% of the people are here to just get ideas about how to make short term large profits by essentially crafting the things you craft. I mean I too want to get to stockpiling maybe some of these items and then wait and watch the market for when to sale, I guess the hard part is it takes a while to get everything you need for a batch while you are doing everything else this game needs you to do. However I am new and making my way through the last of the story so not sure what is this or that yet. I am thinking ship parts because it doesn't seem like those can ever be produced to meet demand considering the resources it needs. That or the common trap I would guess in that I might use them on my own ship and then just move on because dang those resources are tough to pull. Death seems doable, and I am not sure about glue yet.....

    Yeah some good info...
    Been in Epheria port myself working on Fishing boats and tools mostly, refinery there making Steel ingots Importing iron from node east of Glish and buying coal due to low contrib (which I need to hike up...lazy)
    Love Lucky Steel axes, since the Shard craze, people want these hot lucky items
    Yeah fishing boat every 1+ 1/2 days is cool... a lot of chopping alt energy expending...
    It really breaks up the grind-game to manage things, often I will buy/level/breed/sell horses... I'm also on Edan (Valgar Bloodflyte, Warrior of Chaos and other breakfast Cereals© )

    Great guide man! I think you dont give Fishing boats enough credit though:) I used to make 6 a day and that was great profit! Was also very intense though, keeping the materials going! And since I was doing all mats my self it was a big profit.
    PS: Black stone powder is still on a low, slowly recovering though

    Personal question is (more like a suggestion for a guide) : What materials are that you personally have to gather, and cant be "Worker farmed" . Or more like what is worth to gather. A decent list and guide for them how to gather them effective would be lovely.

    all this confusion/misunderstanding about "tax evasion". I'm looking forward to your video about it Blade.
    I think ppl forget that a higher tier items price could be elevated by an additional 35% compared to the production cost. In that case you break even if you sell the item after this single step of production.
    If you have a multiple tier/step production starting with the lower tier saves you this extra price bump, compared to buying the highest possible tier for your craft. The more steps you do yourself the more money you save in general (note your processing rate plays a role here).
    E.g. there are cases for a 2 step production, where each step on it's own is negative profit, but starting with the base ingredients and doing both steps selling the end product will net you profit.
    You can make these calculation more complex if you add different processing rates and add some value to energy which you spend processing.

      Thanks lol, yeah hate it when dogs start making black stone powder but I guess I have that affect on people. Good news for the hard core crafters, if they watch carefully they will see that I didn't go the "make this and make these" approach but rather teaching people how to find their own items

    what do you think of leveling trading and crafting all those crates is tht profitable way or you use more worker nodes and sells what they gather?

  • @grayhill6728
    @grayhill6728 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I don't see how you "avoid the tax" by crafting the end item. Either you get taxed on the end item or you are taxed on the mats if you sells them.

    • @grayhill6728
      @grayhill6728 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** Sorry, but that doesn't add up. The tax rate is the same for everything sold on the marketplace. And never mind the extra beer you have to feed the workers to produce the final stage. If the mats would sell for 65,000 silver after tax, or the end item made from those mats same would sell for 65,000 after tax, there is no profit in producing and selling the end item. Only if you can sell the end item for more than you can sell the mats do you make a profit.

    • @pinie111
      @pinie111 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You get skill experience for processing the materials yourself resulting in more end materials then what you bought for so you would make more profit :) (in exchange for energy of course). And the avoiding tax means that you use the items you create yourself so you don't lose the money by selling them and buying the same item back from the marketplace.

    • @KyCygni4
      @KyCygni4 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He worded this part rather poorly. You obviously don't "tax evade" the system by not selling fishing rod parts and instead selling a fishing rod...if you just get taxes on the fishing rod anyway. Most items though will have a better profit margin by moving them up the chain, and I think that's all he was trying to express. The term "tax evasion" really should never have been used at all during the video. If you put an item on the marketplace, you'll get taxed. Crafting an item with ingredients to avoid taxes that *you never would have paid anyway* is not some magical form of tax evasion.

    • @grayhill6728
      @grayhill6728 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      440Music Exactly, but that's what he said, and what he said is incorrect. Some people who don't think carefully wouldn't catch it and think it's always best to sell the end item when the sales revenue of the materials or end item are even. There may be reasons to go ahead and craft the end item anyway, but avoiding the tax isn't one of them. :-)

      @pinie111 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Blade have you ever run into a situation where you need to make a market for your item? For instance, certain cooked items are constantly sold out, and no one seems to want to make it, even if they are profitable. However, if you try and post 100 of them then the game sets out a max sell price which is based on the last transaction, not historic max. As it turns out you can move up the current max by posting AND selling a single item: the game records this, and moves up the next max. You keep doing this until the game reaches its true historic max, then you post your 100 items of (insert high profit item here). Does that ever happen with some of the stuff you craft?

    • @pinie111
      @pinie111 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to sell a certain amount at max price before it goes up, to reach true max it would take too long.

    Hey blade ive been watching your series for a while rewatching them over and over but Ive been having problems with contribution point management and also since Im newer player trying to get my gear been having hard time actually keeping the money that I make so was mostly woundering if you might have additional advice for these issuses or plan on making more content that helps more in depth

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure the biggest thing is contribution will always be an issue since every point can directly increase your bank accounts every day going forward that you have them. I try to do some of the easy CP quests like turn ins and escorts etc only as I pass through areas. As you play you will learn more of what and how to do it. Right now you need to be spending your money on gear, I have 7 pieces of +15, spare offhand, and 6 of those are all ultimate. That costs money, if you want to save up and buy a +15 it will be cheaper than making it, but if you dont want to go the save and snipe route just keep putting money into gear and itll balance out

    I don't quite understand how you get taxed less by crafting, you final craft is taxed just the same right? So if sell a craft at 100k you loose 35k , if you sell the componant costing 10k each for 10 different componant you'll get taxed 3.5k 10 times so 35k in the end.
    I really don't understand where you "avoid" the tax

    • @daerion85
      @daerion85 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its because you make a profit on the finished product. And that profit cancles out the taxes you'd pay if you only sold the mats. So it's more of an "avoid taxes" instead of actual tax evation.

      Oh hey, I mentioned it in Episode 2, but basically they cannot get to Artisan level and that is most important to me I want those +3 Craft skills so I level and then fire if I dont get them there. Over time I will have the most well trained work force I can possibly get and named just wont do it

  • @lukaskunitz

    do you buy your artisan workers

  • @sessy33
    @sessy33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    i don't get the tax evasion part at all lol, no matter what stage of the system you finally decide to sell an item at, there will be a 35% tax lol. Can sell it at stage 1 where you or your workers obtain the materials like timber or ore and sell it, boom 35% tax.
    You can get the timber like that or ores and then process it at stage 2 into planks or metal shards, then sell, boom 35% tax.
    You can get to stage 3 as in planks to plywood, etc, boom 35% tax.
    You can get your ores all the way to ingots or whatever, and then craft them into grunil or something and then sell, boom 35% tax.
    You can get to that stage, then take it further by turning green to ultimate grunil, then sell, 35% tax.
    You can get to that point then enhance it to PEN, and even if you super lucky and dont fail a single time (lol right) and then sell, 35% tax...
    So what was the point of even bringing this up? You don't evade tax at all, cuz if you did sell at stage 1 you would get taxed, and if you didnt sell it, to you, you would "Evade tax" and consume it in a later stage, but then you would sell it and get taxed, or again you would move to next stage. All in all, eventually, you would sell it at some point, at some stage, and get taxed. So, dafuq? lol.

    • @Ejderhare
      @Ejderhare 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely right sessy there is no tax evasion at all.. He misunderstands how endpoint taxes work. The only reason to craft is if there is added value i.e if you can make more money by selling the end product vs selling the raw components used to craft the item. Taxes has nothing to do with it and does not need to be included in the calculations since they will be payed either way but he mixes up added value with taxes.
      Further more if you really want to calculate if the item is profitable you also have to add in the production cost, i.e cost of beer to keep the workers going + opportunity cost of any time spent gathering the necessary items to craft the item (like the leather) as well as the opportunity cost of assigning the X number of CP required to craft the item which could have been assigned to something else, and last but not least the opportunity cost of the worker assigned to craft the item. Hence its a lot more complicated than the original explanation and that is why many will find that selling raw materials processed to T1 or T2 can be just as profitable and much easier.

    You still get taxed on the end product you sell right? in essence nothing changes except maybe that it's easier to sell.
    edit: to be more specific, just an example.
    If I had 1 steel ingot. I could sell this for 8K silver
    Or maybe I could make something from it to sell worth 8K silver.
    After putting it on the market I would be getting exacly the same. Actually making a loss as the worker needs beer.
    The end product may be easier to sell though, in the case of the fishing rods you were talking about this is true. But you would still be earning less if you could sell the raw materials for more.

    • @jamesjmeyers807
      @jamesjmeyers807 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily because say you sell steel at 8k that's 16k minus the tax but you take a steel fishing rod and sell it between 40-45k which is reasonable. Minus the powder and beer and ingots you make more off the rod then you could have off of just selling the materials.

    • @leverloos
      @leverloos 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Meyers But thats when making an item that makes a profit.
      Now talk about the mediah fishing rod. He still makes them even though they are at a loss. He is talking about tax evasion, but there is no tax evasion. You either pay it over the raw materials to sell them on the marketplace. Or over the finished product.
      Now a mediah fishing rod is probably easier to sell compared to some of the materials because of the huge market stock. But you still make less.

      An example of what Gaming is saying:
      take a fictitious craft, banana split:
      Market 1k
      Mats: 1 banana (200 sp) and 2 ice cream.(400 sp per)
      Bonus chances: none (no multiple or superior quality)
      The banana and ice cream would sell for 650 (200 *.65 + 2x400*.65)
      If I craft the banana split I will still only make 650 (1000 * .65)
      I don't see how taxes are evaded.

      I can't tell if thats a question or not lol. Every level of item changing profit is based upon the rates at which you acquire them. Thusly selling something for profit if after the 35% loss, but if you do not sell and convert it then the next level profit is based upon the market value and not the 35% loss, so that profit is built back into the process.

    I'm still having a little trouble understanding what you mean when you say that using a material for a higher tier recipe is evading taxes. I've heard you say that sentence many, many times but it still doesn't sink in. May I suggest that you make a video taking the time to explain this with numbers? Maybe something like what would happen if you sold all the mats and bought the mats for the higher tier recipe versus what would happen if you used all those initial mats, with numbers attached to all that. Perhaps the Mediah fishing rod? I'm having a hard time understanding why in gods name you would craft this item if just selling the mats individually would come close to the same thing.

    • @kaltorakh
      @kaltorakh 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the end of the line, you still have to pay taxes. BUT, the important thing, is that each part of the process (gathering/processing/crafting) would make profit by itself, even selling that part instead of continuing the line. So, if you follow the road and do all the steps, you are getting the profit of each step, and only paying the taxes of the last step.

    • @kaltorakh
      @kaltorakh 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Example: lets say 30% taxes to make it easier and lets say gathered mat sells for 10, processed mat sells for 20 and crafted mat sells for 30.
      1. If you sell the gathered item, you make 10*0.7=7 profit
      2. Processing it would mean buying for 10 and selling for 20. After taxes you would make 20*0.7-10=4 profit.
      3. Crafting would mean buying at 20 and selling at 30. After taxes you would make 30*0.7-20=1 profit.
      Total 7+4+1= 12 profit
      Now, if you follow the line, you would directly sell the final product for 30. After taxes 30*0.7=21 profit

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll make a video explaining it, its a semi advanced way of doing things that drastically increases profit. If you read what Rodrigo said he is right. Every profit level is based on the cost of acquiring the items, and selling the next level -35%. But if you do not sell the items and convert it to the next tier item, there is profit in that conversion but it builds in the 35% you didn't lose by not selling that tier versus buying it at market value. If that made no sense I am going to do a guide so dont worry!

    • @pinie111
      @pinie111 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You forget that if you process them you get up to 4* end product =) so based on your skill your calculations are wrong.

    • @kaltorakh
      @kaltorakh 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      But that applies to the benefit of processing, not to following the entire line. I mean, if you buy and process them, it also is as you say. My example was to show the benefits of following the entire line with your own mats, for saving taxes.

    I don't understand why people would buy blue amor or weapons :) it's 10* cheaper to just make them blue at +15.
    Oh and another problem with this system is that if you set up to make a certain item but the market cannot sustain your ingredients, you will be stuck with a ton of mats but miss like 1 crucial part and you wasted a ton of money :)
    Even if you prepare well and see that the market has 500 gold ore(just as example), if someone else has the same idea (or 10-50 more ppl) then there is never enough supply.

    I don't get how you're evading taxes. I realize that you're not getting taxed on every reagent individually but you ARE once you make the item and sell it, seems like the exact same math, 35% taken from 5 different items is the same as combining all 5 items and getting taxed on that.

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Close, but you are forgetting that once the items are combined you are getting taxed on a higher number, so in the most simplified form, combining items increases the number that the 35% is applied to and why you will be able to avoid tax in the previous tiers before combining. I'm going to make a video on this, its been too much going over everyone's examples in comments lol.

    You say you're getting your profit "back" when making those altinova ferry prows, you still lose 35% when you sell those, you're not making anything "back" since you didn't even buy the materials in the first place. i.e you're basically wasting beer & a worker which could be doing something else.

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the Sturdy Fir Plywoods to sell, the price to sell them became unprofitable, converting them into a craftable item allows me to profit.

    • @salakiii
      @salakiii 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you made the sturdy fir plywood to sell, the price you'd get for selling them would equal the price you'd buy them at to make the altinova ferry prows to begin with. there would be no difference in profit(apart from the 400) that you'd get through just selling all the mats instead. Provided the altinova ferry prows sells faster it would be worth to make them, if not then you'd exactly the same amount if you would sell the plywood and other mats straight up. 35% tax on 100k vs 35% tax on 60+ 20 + 20k is still the same. You're not avoiding any tax nor making any more profit than those 400.

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's all right I'll make a video explaining it. Think about it this way, if I sold it at the price I am buying it I don't get the price I list it for I get that price -35% so if I am making the next item and the silver I get back from the sale -35% equals the cost then I make the 35% I would have lost if I didn't make the item. If that didn't make sense please wait a bit and Ill work it into a guide

    • @salakiii
      @salakiii 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's implying the price of the item you made is equal to the cost -35%, but then you can't say the price was the same and that you're avoiding the 35% tax.
      You make an item, sell it for 10k = 6.5k after tax.
      instead you use 10x item x and sell it for 100k = 65k after tax.
      = same profit.
      You make an item, sell it for 10k = 6.5k after tax
      Instead you use 10x item x and sell it for 15k, = 10k after tax.
      If this is what you're referring to as "avoiding tax then you're wrong" You're still not avoiding any tax either way, you're just turning item X into an item worth almost equal to the cost of production, there's nothing to explain.

    • @BladeBoques
      @BladeBoques  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're definitely not on the same page, you know I am saying you avoid tax on one tier by taking it to the next tier right? The final tier is always taxed.
