    I loved that they included this scene, since earlier in the show, Bjorn said how he came to love Athelstan after getting over his misgivings over him being an outsider. Let's not forget Athelstan actually lived in Ragnar's home for a long while, and took on the role of caretaker, almost like the equivalent of an in-house nanny, especially for the kids. It would make sense that Bjorn would have wanted justice for Athelstan.

    Athelstan was Bjorn's beloved nanny. Bjorn also saw how much Ragnar respected Athelstan, and trying to impress and please his daddy has always been Bjorn's #1 goal in life. LOL. But I don't agree with Bjorn here. Floki's carpentry genius is not easily replaced--he was the mastermind behind the raiding ships' ability to sail all the way to England and the very useful siege towers in Paris. Without Floki, the good raiding ships will be gone within a few years, leaving Ragnar's kingdom wide open to conquest from other Viking earls. Ragnar understood this. As a result he was very pragmatic about seeking revenge, leaving Floki alone to do his thing. Apparently Bjorn doesn't see Floki's importance. Bjorn is a terrible tactician, letting his emotions control his thinking.

Being a Christan myself I loved those scenes. But to Floki, a strong pagan believer, it must have been hard and troubling seeing your best friend being influenced by a "false" god.

      i agree with you about all you said, but if i may, i have a clarification: yes, Floki killed Athelstan primarily because he was jealous of his bond with Ragnar, but i believe he did also in order to protect his Gods, for Athelstan had thrown away his armring, i.e. he had given up the Norse gods for his Christian one; Floki saw it and told everyone about it (including Bjorn). Therefore, the only one who could protect Athelstan from all of them was Ragnar, for it wasn't for Floki, it could have been anyone of them. Poor athelstan :(

In the grand scale of things it was true that the norse faith was destined to be overtaken, but it was never through Athelstan. It was like he had a Damocle's sword pending on his head. If Floki didn't, someone else who is a firm believer of his gods would: Floki just had another good reason, which was his paranoidity and jelaousy of the love and respect ragnar had for athelstan.

    Why is everyone saying Bjorn did the right thing and this is his best scene ever? Bjorn has made 2 foolish mistakes which caused all of the drama in Season 4 and 5. He ordered the arrest of Floki without consulting Ragnar, and Ragnar himself said he didn't want to arrest Floki. HE was the one who left behind Rollo, and we all know Rollo is a betrayer. Ragnar knows him more than anyone else and he wouldn't leave behind Rollo cuz he is suspicious af. Stay WOKE people, Bjorn caused all the drama and the defeat of Paris which made Ragnar disappear. AND EVEN THEN Bjorn has the audacity to be mad at him after Ragnar returned in Season 4b. STAY WOKE.

    • @cristinademartini1284
      @cristinademartini1284 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bjorn did those mistakes because he wanted to gain Ragnar's approval. About leaving Rollo and the Vikings behind in Frankia, it is his mistake, but imho more like Ragnar's one: because the Franks would have annihilated the Vikings who stayed one way or another; they may be weak, but not stupid, as Ragnar broke the deal with them and thus their annihilation was 100% justified, unlike the wessex one. Bjorn (and Ragnar) was very naive if he thought they would have found the camp safe and sound where they had left it, with Rollo's "betrayal" or not.

    • @moosejuice4231
      @moosejuice4231 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Ragnar abandoned his people. In season 4b it was clear that even without an official title, the people chose Bjorn to be their ruler after completely losing faith in Ragnar. And no, I won’t stay Woke. Feminism is a lie to cover up leftist agendas and superiority regimes.

      I don’t hate Bjorn but as someone who both loves Floki and can see his side, I don’t agree with what Bjorn has done. Bjorn had the right to be angry with Floki, as Ragnor was, but it frustrates me that Floki is punished purely because of this scene. Ragnor admitted he was trying to keep Floki’s murder of Athelstan under the radar so as to keep the townspeople from turning against him, so it does annoy me that Bjorn could have saved Floki that suffering. HOWEVER. At the end of the day Floki did murder Bjorn’s friend, and someone who had raised him. Regardless of how close he was to Floki, I would be mad if I as Bjorn and would want justice of some sort. So I can’t hate him for that, but I am frustrated at his naivety/ignorance (I suppose) and temper here
