As talented as KD is (and his talent is definitely generational), he's not worth the headache at this point in his career, let alone the fact that he hasn't played a full season in several years due to injury.

Agreed, can't be saying that they need to keep KD to win a championship, when has he ever won other than the time he joined a 73-9 team? What excuses did he have this year to get bounced out in the first round? Milwaukee will be healthy next year, Boston will improve next year.
I'd play hard to get the most value for KD and rebuild, Brooklyn is not the OKC, they are based in New York, they will still be able to attract other talents in the future.

What is the guarantee that even if they fire GM and coach then KD doesn't demand a trade again near deadline if they're in the middle of the table best case? There is none. He asked out after 1 year of new deal because his own decisions were shit.
And I also don't agree that you have to keep him. OKC that you claim "was shit" did better in the playoffs for the next four years than the Nets WITH KD this year. Even though he left for nothing in free agency. And the Warriors, which he left on a trade, are doing great and no one can deny that. "But it was a different situation" some may say - to which I respond that if it depends on situation, then you don't keep him at all cost.

KD already screwed the Nets future with the rest of his ideas, and now you're not gonna get much back for him. So Joe Tsai should send a message to the players. Keep KD through his contract and let KD choose to waste the next 3-4 years of his career by not trying. That will hurt KD WAY more than the Nets. KD's got 4-5 years of good basketball left in him. I disagree, they ain't winning a championship, KD is great but he never won other then by joining a 73-9 team and they are not even close to be in OKC's situation, the Nets are based in Brooklyn, they will always be able to attract talent as long as they have a healthy culture, having a good culture is what attracted KD and Kyrie to choose them over the Knicks in the first place.
Don't fire the GM and the coach, if KD doesn't want to play, fine, let him waste his final years, he ain't doing that, he's gonna play, you run it one more year with Kyrie (because if they don't win with Kyrie they certainly won't win without him) and trade KD next off-season.

as a nets fan, I must say that I disagree with the idea of firing marks right now in accordance with KD's will. Because if every gm interested in the position knows that they are one moody superstar away from being fired, they will struggle to get someone of merit for the position, not just right now, but in the future. marks got this team out of a hole once, he can do it again. a lot of the bad moves from the past few years were only made because of pressure from kd and kyrie. ik you said that coaches and GMs are common, but quality ones are not. marks is a good gm, and imo firing him would be the real death of the organization. it wouldn't be easy to find someone else nearly as good, and imo the nets aren't any type of contender right now anyway with KD unless they get a veteran big man to deal with Giannis and the other bigs in the east. nic claxton and dayron sharpe aint gonna cut it.

mate thats the truth, KD may be generational talent but I don't think he can contribute on both ends of the floor after 2 seasons, As great as Lebron is, he is masking some the age related problem with his athleticism & huge presence of mind. KD will shoot mid range Jumper for his life like Carmelo but he will be picked by quicker guards & stronger wing players on his defense. I am really enticed by Jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown plus Ben Simmons will be the best wing defending Combos after PG13 & Kawahi.
Mike Conely & Bogdan is in the trade market, I would do a trade kyrie taking for Bogdon & Conley & lakers 1st round pick .
      Starting 5
      Mike Conley
      Seth Curry
      Jaylen Brown
      Bogdon
      Ben Simmons
      Bench
      TJ Warren
      Royce O'Neale
      Robert Williams
      Cam Thomas
Derrick white Plus you get Three 1st round pick from Boston, one 1st round pick from Lakers. I will take this team over Whatever team you can build around KD. But Sean Marks is great GM he will build a better team than this.

We realize that casual fans that don’t actually watch nets games don’t understand how bad these guys are. Nash can’t make basic adjustments in a playoff series, marks allows Bruce to WALK without even making an offer after already letting Jeff green leave the previous year. The media will have you believe that Kd is the owner gm and coach when in reality he was the only constant for the last 2 years. Unfounded rumors and anonymous sources can pick away at the man’s reputation but he can’t respond or he’s petty and sensitive. He played as much ball as possible coming off an Achilles and other injuries that ppl claimed would make him a shell of himself. He played his ass off against Giannis and got clowned for nearly beating the best team in basketball by himself. He gets clowned for leaving golden state after his own teammate and the bat media tell him to leave. He literally can’t do anything without being bashed by everyone. We can see every year generational talents fail (sixers and embiid, lakers and lebron, kd and the nets, kawhi and the clippers etc) in comparison to generational talents win with good front offices. Like steph and the warriors, like giannis and the bucks, like kawhi with the raptors. I think you are seeing only the superstar and forget the bigger picture that is needed to win an NBA championship. Without a good owner, a nice supporting cast, a smart GM and a good nba coach, superstars can't win on they own.

Marks stays because he is good at his job and he is likely to be there for a long time after the rest of this roster goes.
If one parses Durant’s demand, it can be argued that he doesn’t want the combo of Nash and Marks next season. Replacing Nash but keeping Marks meets the demand based on how it is phrased.
Durant gets a tiny win to assuage his bruised ego while the Nets jettison a coach who had no business having the job other than Durant and Kyrie pushing for it.

At this point they are keeping Nash just to prove a point.
I don't think anyone in their right mind believes that Nash can coach worth a damn, but they are going to keep him just to spite KD and restore some of the credibility they have lost over the past few years.
If they keep bending over and firing coaches just because one player demands it, then no reputable coach will ever want to sign for then in the future and contrary to what Kyrie thinks, they do need a good coach.

A new video on Tuesday? I was confused! I had to check my watch for the day. KD has got all the talent in the world, but he doesn't have what it takes to lead ... he's too petty. If Joe Tsai has any skill at 4D chess, he has probably already given Sean Marks the unenviable task of firing Steve Nash in such a way that it gives Marks more time to repair his relationship with Kevin Durant. Tsai can't be seen as caving in so soon, so Marks must be the hatchet man, which is in his job description, anyway.
Like Casey correctly implies, there is no way KD is showing up to training camp if Nash is still the coach. If Marks miraculously finds a coach the entire team can be excited about, KD and Kyrie just might buy in.
But if you see NOTHING happen from the Brooklyn front office in the next 10 days, I guarantee Joe Tsai moves on this. Sean and Steve are toast, and should start sending out résumés to prospective employers. 💁🏻‍♂️🏀📜

What is Nash's excuse for losing 12 games in a row without KD? If KD forced the non structure on the Nets then why couldn't Nash do anything when KD wasn't there? Why were the Nets blowing teams out the previous season when they had Udoka and Dantoni but struggled all season without them? Why did Nash only win games with KD playing over 40 minutes every night? Nash has no offensive or defensive schemes and that's on him. If Nash had these great schemes but was prevented from implementing them why did he lose 12 in a row without KD?

It is the management team you need to stand by if they haven’t done anything wrong. This is a corporation at the end of the day and if they fire someone from management for no reason other then an employee wanting them out then future managers, coaches etc will think twice before doing business with you and joining the company.

By publicly announcing what he said to Tsai, he is telling the nets he wants out, to force a trade out before the season starts. I guess its Kd's way of putting the nets into a corner and telling them he doesnt want to play in brooklyn.

You would think the low trade offers would clue some people in but apparently not. Casey still thinks Bam or Scottie will be swapped for KD!!! Dude that has NEVER been on the table and most certainly will NEVER be done...because KD's value is NOT generational anymore. The point of keeping KD should be looked at from a business angle, where he's generating profits for the Nets, not necessarily a championship. In this sense, Joe Tsai maybe forced to give in to his demands. They've made conscious choices of getting super stars onto the team and gutted all future assets for the win now / profit now mode. All they need to do is to keep the average fans in NY area happy and keep buying stuff and coming to games and get the revenue. They don't need to build team culture as not enough fans appreciate that.

Outside of enabling KDs toxic behavior, bringing back KD isn’t gonna win Brooklyn a title bc atp in his career he’s injury prone and hasn’t proven that he can lead a team while healthy to the finals since 2012. KD and Kyrie aren’t the recipe for a championships as the focal points of an offense bc they literally proved they can’t do it. They’re both proven GOAT tier supporting championship pieces but look what just happened this past postseason when they’re matched up against an actual good team in the Celtics🤷🏾‍♂️
