    Thank you so much Garry! You saved me from whitecapping my newly installed paver patio. I had rented a plate compactor for the gravel layer, and was about to go out and use it on my contoured pavers. Thanks to you, I rented a paver roller, which has rollers on the bottom and vibrates with enough force to compact the pavers and get polymeric sand to fill the joints. Thanks again, I would have been very upset if I ruined this patio that I've been working so hard to build!

    Great video. Than you. We just had to remove our joint sand and replace. One question. Over time the polymeric sand does fail correct? We do not think the contractor sealed our patio when it was originally done. We want to seal but will we still be able to pressure wash it out if years down the road it needs replaced again? Thank you - Tonni

    Can you apply polymeric sand over polymeric sand? We used polymeric sand on our pavers last year. Some of it is falling away, maybe down 1/4 inch in some spots. Can we put polymeric sand over polymeric sand? Thanks for any help!

      You need a minimum of 1" , if you put a 1/4" on it will peel off like spaghetti.

      Yes for sure. The finished job should have the sand 1/4 to3/8 below the pavers, not level with the paver

    I have a minor question that none of these videos address. WHAT EFFECT DOES THE BLOWN POLYMERIC SAND HAVE ON GRASS, FOLIAGE AND SOIL WHICH INEVITABLY GET COVERED IN SAND???

    Good afternoon Gary. Definetely a great job on improving the previous contractor's poor job. I am planning on doing the same thing for my driveway and patio and had a question. Which sealer would be the best option for both type of pavers?, I have concrete in my driveway and limestone in my patio.

      For concrete and concrete pavers and natural stone there are specific products for them. Check with techniseal or Alliance to see what they have.

    I’m removing regular sand and want to put polymeric sand in . Should I tamp it down ? And can that be done by hand or should it be done with tamping machine ?

    • @GarryReisky
      @GarryReisky  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most polymeric sands need vibration to get the air out so the sand can achieve optimal strength. If you have a small area you can use a hand tamper, a rubber hammer, a piece of wood with with some type of hammer to hit the pavers so you create vibration to remove the air in the sand. If it's a larger area than a plate compactor with or without protective pad (if you have textured pavers than you need the protective pad) would be best, or a roller compactor. If you can't find a plate compactor with the pad you can use plywood.

    Hi Garry, what brand of polymeric sand do you use?

    • @GarryReisky
      @GarryReisky  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Currently Techniseal 'NextGel' but there are other good brands out there too.

    Can you flip the white capped stones over and use the undamaged side?

    Wouldn't the pressure washer disturb the base beneath the pavers? Will the sand fill those voids?

    • @GarryReisky
      @GarryReisky  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would really have to hold the pressure washer in one place for some time for it to effect the bedding layer. I've pulled stones out to see if there is any removal of bedding sand and there isn't.

    I can’t find any place that sells Techniseal products. I’m in California. Even Amazon has only tinted sealer available. I can’t even buy directly off Techniseal’s website.
    Their website also lists Ace Hardware as a place to buy, but there are no Techniseal products on Ace Hardware’s website.
    Where do you buy these products?

    I am about to do this soon. If the weather calls for rain the next day, would that be ok to apply or should wait for sunny weather 2-3 days out?

    hi Garry, do you recommend the polymeric sand brands, that they sale at Home Depot and Lowes ? if you do how strong do you recommended it?

    • @GarryReisky
      @GarryReisky  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally speaking I've never used what the big box stores sell. We use what our stone supply/dealers sell. My local dealers stock, techniseal, alliance gator and evolution.

      Garry Reisky Thanks. Is that normal for someone to put what looks like play sand between pavers?

      JN 2013 I usually spray it on than go over it with a roller.

    1.5" to work properly? The joints on these pavers are less than a inch and half. Haha!
