Monstered my Slash 4x4 as well, same issue with air getting under it. Stick on weights under the body brought it down and can really get on the throttle now. Great place for running them.

I put softer springs on my Slash and now it's almost like the UDR In terms of suspension movement. It soaks up allot! I have a sway bar kit coming in for it soon can't wait to try it out.
@@fullthrottleobsessions I've had em installed for a few days. I went with the soft sway bars front and rear. Big improvement in stability and the truck is more likely to spin out now instead of traction roll. These sway bars along with rear 6866 green springs make for a more realistic SC driving experience but with stability. I also moved the rear springs to the outter three holes on the suspension arms. They're on the inner most hole of the three holes that are grouped together.
I was just amazed at the way they avoided rollovers. Barely any at all! Id like to know what batteries they’re running. That’s Slash 4X4 was blazing!!! Love seeing these beasts at home. 🤙🏾
Sounds crazy, but imagine putting a spy camera on the front of the rc and you could watch a first person view from your phone or something, making you feel like your in the drivers seat hehe. Great video by the way!

Honestly between these two I would go with the Slash 4x4 it just tends to hold up better then the udr but if you really want an all around rugged and fun RC I'd step up to an xmaxx

I also stiffened up the suspension to handle the extra weight of the metal trailing arms and metal front lower arms...the mip hardened drive shaft is a definite must. Proline makes replacement tires . ill put those on next. I only run the udr on a dirt track. Pavement is a definite no go for that truck
Rob Lucas - I run mine on 8S with no heat issues, and that’s with the original motor! I thought I was going to need to throw a 1500kv T8 in there, but no issues so far.
FullThrottle Obsessions mines pretty tight right now too and makes an odd noise but in order for it to sound normal, it will slip real bad. I like having it tight because of the power delivery. I’m using a revo slipper.

Right on bud your sons going to love this hobby, the slash 4x4 is a great option and was my go to basher for many years but I have to say the new Rustler 4x4 has been my new go to and favorite it's tough and handles better then most in its class plus the little extra ground clearance goes a long way and gives you more versatility for rougher terrain

I'm still using the stock gear ratio and motor, initially I was going to gear it a little lower but honestly it seems about perfect on the factory gearing so I left that part alone. I did however install a metal spur gear so I wasn't taking the teeth off the factory plastic gear
Are you using the stock 14/ 54 on the monster slash with the bigger tires? I want to do the same thing or do I need to gear down to a 12 or 13 pinion with a 54?
I'm running the stock gearing on my slash but I always run on 3s I would gear it down a bit depending on what packs your running especially if you run on 2s

I have to say in stock form there pretty fragile and honestly at first I didn't care to much for the UDR because it seemed like it would brake every time I took it out but with a few upgrades this thing is actually not that bad at all and a blast to drive. One of the weakest links atleast for mine was the stock rear drive shaft and the rear trailing arms luckily there's tons of aftermarket parts out there now that solves those weak links

Anyone wanting to do a monster slash. You need 2.8 tires (trenchers or badlands are good), 11t pinion (keep stock 54t spur), proline extended body mounts, 3s lipo, scissors to trim the body, and heat sinks/fans for the motor and ESC. Other upgrades you can do is metal driveshafts, gtr shocks or big bore shocks, rpm a arms. Second, a slash is fun to build and personalize. Tons of aftermarket parts and tutorials, but if you want a more powerful and purpose built monster truck get the Maxx instead

Dude, your trucks are the shit! In the last week I bought my son a slash 4x4 brushed and the next day I went and got myself a slash 4x4 vxl. Love both of them I just wish mine had a tiny bit more throttle response for wheelies, sometimes I can get it to come up if it's right in the perfect power band or happens to hook up just perfect! But I want it to do a wheelie every time I want it to. What do you suggest? Can I tighten up the stock slipper or I saw in my local shop they had a slipper delete, but I'm not sure if I want that. Do you have any suggestions? I'm running stock gearing on 3s LiPo
Right on thanks brother congrats on you and your sons new RCs, you can tighten the slipper up a bit I always tend to run mine on the tighter side just be careful with that because the less slip you have the more likely you are to brake something, id stay away from the slipper delete kits thats just asking for trouble in my opinion. Wheeling on demand with a slash is quite hard but I'd go with some better tires a little lower gearing and maybe even a higher c rated battery pack would be were I would start

It's set a little tighter than normal, I'm about a turn and a half from lockdown

It defanatly is but it's also running on 6s, I love the size of the udr the extra width really let's you slide around those turns nice and fast

The UDR is a blast bud, but I dont think it would compare to a dirt bike, I'd keep the dirt bike and just save up for a UDR

Slash is bouncing a lot and no where near as controlled as the udr it's like it doesn't have suspension
It's really the weight difference that your noticing, the UDR is quite a bit heavier then the slash which helps it stay planted to the ground

Not really a copy they have different suspension set ups and way different frames and design from each other
Your suspension on the slash seems way too hard. mine rides much more like the udr with better dampening and springs.
I have the suspension set up for bigger jumps so it doesn't bottom out as hard
