I have been on PPI for almost five years ... Whenever I stop it I get pain in the abdomen ... trying to get off the medication for so long ... your video is really helpful. What I found works the best is never to stay up late at night or stay hungry, waking up early and eating healthy food on time. My doc said staying up at night causes more acid secretion. And early morning exercise helps to get proper bowel movement and improved digestion. My first meal of the day is watery fruits like watermelon, cucumber or melons. I don't take acidic fruits. And I try to eat more fruits and vegetables. No processed foods. That has helped me a lot. And never sleep in empty stomach.

Your video brought me to tears. Although this video was close to 3 years ago. I'm a fighter and I was advised to be on PPI for another month. I do not have any gerd but gastritis. I'm not an advocate for medication as i believe that our body is programmed to heal but I fear the withdrawal symptoms that comes along with it once i stop this medication. I was told to consume PPI for 4 weeks and I have a follow up appointment 2 weeks once im done with this medication. My gastritis was caused by stress and anxiety. I never thought that my life would change overnight. Im telling myself that i would get through this no matter how hard its gonna be. I've seen so many stories and comments how symptoms worsen or even new stuff develops after they are off the meds. And im praying for better days as i've been suffering since feb 2022 till today which comes and goes. All i can think about now is to focus on positivity. But yes i felt this heartache of wanting to get better but ,your body is doing the complete opposite of what you're trying to achieve. I wish you the best dear. Thank you for giving all of us hope. I've reached that point that im going to accept that I have this issue and never lose hope!

Hi Najiha, thank you for sharing your story. I just wanted to give you a reassurance that things will get better! It will take a lot of self discipline and take a lot of time but there will be light at the tunnel. I want to share with you that after 12 years with this condition, I have finally learned to live with it with very minimal intake of medicine like PPI. I’m doing really well now that I can occasionally eat the things I used to not able to. Everything in moderation and be smart about your choices and you will go a long way! 58 year old dude here... 4 weeks ago I took myself to hospital with dire feeling chest pain.. Thought I was having a heart attack..
Heart checked out ok. I was told to see my doctor. My doc suspected I had damaged my esophagus, by acid removing the mucus. Either that or ulcers.
I have been on Salpraz (PPI) for 4 weeks.. Over that time i have developed a rash all over most of my body.. It does not itch at all during the day, but at night, at that very moment when I drift from awake to asleep, I itch... This kept me awake from 10pm to 2am the other night. Something had to give.
Today, i have not taken my Salpraz.. But I am not going solo on this. Lifestyle got me into it, lifestyle will get me out. Healthy food is a given.. In my case cabbage juice for ulcers.. Then at dinner time, eat half the meal, the stop.. Wait an hour to eat the rest. Graze thoughout the day.. Lots of water.... Lunch.. A foot long subway.. Take 2 to 3 hours to eat it. Eat a 1/3. and put it down.. Come back to it. Small frequent meals means less acid right?
It the end of day 1 now and everything feels ok.. So far. .Had dinner 1 hour ago but I'll but up for another 2 at least to make dinner go down before i lay down..
Hopefully the itch will have stopped.. But I suspect that will take a few days.. Wish me luck..

Hello Brad! I’m sorry you are also dealing with reflux disease. You are doing great with eating healthier and break up your meals. I don’t know what might be causing the itch tho…..do you think it might be the PPI you were taking? What if you try a different brand? I’m so sorry to hear about the lupus on top of everything else you had to go through. Your a inspiration to me. So thank you for your videos. I’m going through so much myself and the doctors are still trying to figure what I exactly have besides gerd. I do have 3 questions for you if you don’t mind.
I have horrible pain swallowing and feels like a lump in my throat all day everyday from the time I wake up.
One- Did you have that feeling as well with everything ? It’s terrible but the docs did endoscopies , barium swallows ect and haven’t found anything but gerd so far, slight case of Barretts. I get sick to my stomach from food , and have awful anxiety.
Two -how do you deal with the anxiety that comes from everything?
Three -when you took the PPI do you feel like you have trouble breathing ? They had me on nexium and pantaprozole, but I stop taking it because I felt it effected my breathing. Sorry for long comment, lol. Wishing you lots of blessings for your health. Keep up the beautiful videos. Your giving a lot of hope to people 😘♥️🙏🏼

      @NjckiTran  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hello Genien, I am sorry to hear that you are dealing so much health issues. It can be very frustrating as well as scary and definitely turn your life up side down!
Here are my answers to your questions:
1-I never had pain swallowing but I did and still sometimes have the feeling of theres a lump or food stuck in my throat. This is a normal symptom of reflux/gerd. The feeling of nausea is the most common symptom-I used to feel like I need to vomit even drinking just water.
2- Anxiety comes with all the other symptoms because you are stressed and don't feel well. The more you worry, the worse the anxiety gets. It is a vicious cycle :( How I dealt with anxiety is to focus my mind on the goal to get my symptoms under control. Knowing anxiety and stress can make everything worse, I consciously tell myself to not stress. Meditation helps a lot but I mostly just try to channel my energy into following a healthy routine. I spent a lot of time figuring out what food works for me ( I built a food diary) along with keeping track of how I feel after eating certain food. Just having a routine and "safe food" to eat really reduced the amount of stress and anxiety for me because I know I won't get hurt. For example my routine would look like this: by 7 AM I have to eat breakfast and of course eat something that won't hurt your stomach, then by 11- eat lunch, Get a snack at 2-3 PM and dinner at 7 PM. The biggest part is still figuring out what food works for you-try to cook your own food and make simple dishes :)
3-I don't know if the shortness of breath is due to PPI but in general, having reflux/gerd can cause this problem. I had shortness of breath all the time and especially when I have nausea or that burning sensation in the epigastric area.
I would recommend you staying on PPI for the amount of time that your doctor recommended, don't stop without consulting with your doctor because these pills are good at treating gerd/barrets/reflux, you just don't want to take them for too long. I hope this helps

I want you to try them safely. Now if you are in the clear, get small bottle to try so if it doesn’t work out, you don’t waste it. I think the safest one you can try first is aloe Vera gels! I can vouch for some of the complications of being on PPI's for too long. I've had to be on iron and B12 at one point potassium I have been on omeprazole 20 mg once a day since 1995! And now I have bouts of gastritis I'm starting to get a h hernia And my kidney function is starting to slightly dip below normal occasionally so now my doctor wants me to start doing the omeprazole every other day but I have already tried to go off of it myself and I usually take it in the morning and by late afternoon early evening I started having that feeling coming back like I'm about to have an acid rebound so I went ahead and took the omeprazole. Desperately need to get off of it but I don't know how to. Some videos have said to decrease the beads inside the capsule and decrease them gradually but I'm completely blind so I don't see me being able to do that. I did open one up and count them as best as I could And there were 130 something beats and just one capsule is 20 mg. Anyways I want to be able to get some of the herbal things that you said to try to help the days that I try to not take the omeprazole I'm just scared of getting the wrong thing is all. he thinks I would be able to get off the omeprazole because the reason I had to get on it was because I gained weight after being pregnant with my son so once I reached a certain weight had to start taking my Lanta and then my Lanta wasn't working and then after I had my son my doctor put me on omeprazole because I was like you and I got to the point where after I would eat my mouth would start watering and watering and watering and I would have to spit and spit and spit and then finally I would start throwing up so I was diagnosed with GERD. my doctor also said it can even cause osteoporosis.

I would take these supplements in the morning before I eat breakfast (maybe about 15-20 mins) and then as needed. If I eat something spicy and start to feel pain, I would take a couple of capsules of slippery elm to help coats the stomach and it helps most of the time! But as you feel better, don’t keep taking them.give your body a break and just use as needed

    Hello Nicki,
I have been suffering from GERD since the past 5-6 months. I have been following the proper diet for more than a months. Doctors did my Gastroscopy but did not find any damage to the oesophagus, instead, they found little redness to my vocal cord due to reflux.
I have some questions related to GERD. I hope you can answer them. Because I don't have anyone with whom I can relate with this stuff. So here goes:
    1) I am taking PPI for more than a month now, my doctor is telling me that, I have to take them for 2-3 months. *do they really help?* Because I am not feeling any better, feeling of a lump in the throat, burping, air noise through the oesophagus is still there. Although, I am having less chest pain.
    2) In my case, I have never experienced acid being backed up in my throat or mouth, that's why maybe they did not find any damage to my gastroesophageal track. So, I don't know how they concluded that I have GERD. Maybe my LES has gotten weak, that's why I am having some of the GERD symptoms. my question is, *is it normal to almost never have to experience acid regurgitation but still have GERD?*
    3) I am experiencing sleep apnea since I am having GERD symptoms, *is this normal in GERD?* and because of this sleep apnea, I am having really less energy and motivation, I am experiencing early wakefulness. I am feeling stressed and depressed also having eye twitches and muscle twitches.
I did lots of lifestyle changes since I have been diagnosed with GERD. But, some symptoms are just not going away. *is it possible to completely get rid of GERD symptoms?*

I have a minor sliding Hiatal Hernia. These PPI’s are terrible for the body. I’m having a hard time now off of them these past two wks but I’m reading about PPI REBOUND. This is no joke...
