The penguins utterly failing to damage Bowser with their snowballs is indeed hilarious but I still find their willingness to give it their all and defend their kingdom commendable, they sure have guts. They went down, sure, but not without a fight.

Considering the characters from the mainline mario games, I feel like if the penguins were against anyone else but Bowser, maybe that endless barrage of snowballs would have been effective. It's just that Bowser is so unbelievably strong and tanky that it doesn't even phase him

Jack Black definitely surprised me as Bowser. With Mario, I was initially concerned about Mario "not sounding like Mario," but then I realized that it would probably be very painful to try and sit through an entire movie listening to him speak with that voice.

Lol yes absolutely that and Martinet wasn't the first interpretation of Mario, Chris may sound like Chris but that Brooklyn accent is strong I can hear it and that's how the original interpretation of the character was before Martinet. (LETS A GO)

I can 100% look past Pratt as the voice because it looks SO GOOD and feels so faithful. Hell, he attacks the penguins which most of us so mercilessly threw off the edge of the map in Mario64 🤣🤣
And it's not that I don't like Pratt, I just think his voice is an odd choice.
Eh first iteration of Mario in media was just a regular Italian Brooklyn accent. We can all agree Martinet is the Mario we grew up with and love but originally the character is just a regular Italian plumber from Brooklyn and talked as such. Plus the eccentric Mario would be annoying af for 2 hours. Just give Pratt a chance and I'm sure by ten minutes in we'll be all saying "oh, it's Chris Pratt but he's a Brooklyn Italian Chris Pratt"

Fun Fact!: Mario's voice in this movie is reminiscent to the voice actor of Mario from Super Mario Bros Super Show! which is why I'm suddenly feeling optimistic about this movie.
Not everyone remember the old days when Lou Albano is the original Mario. Some prefer the Charles Martinet flavor on the French dub version

I feel that I’m a part of the few that actually really likes Chris Pratt as Mario. Sure, Charles Martinet’s voice is a staple for Mario, but I appreciate Pratt doing a lighter Italian accent. Especially since Mario is from Brooklyn, not Italy. A lot of people seem to forget that. And the voice director of the movie did say that he was impressed with how good Pratt’s Italian accent is, so I think he’ll be a great Mario!

The animation looks so beautiful & incredible, the characters look the same but the design looks kinda different because it’s in illumination style. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this movie.❤️
Jack Black was absolutely the right choice, I definitely hope the Brooklyn Mario accent is a bit more apparent in the full movie but I’m pretty sure, especially since Miyamoto is so heavily involved, it won’t be a train wreck
lol with the two lines I can see how people wouldn't hear it over Pratt's voice. But as someone in the NYC area I can assure you, that's definitely how a regular Brooklyn Italian speaks, it's overly apparent in the second line in the trailer. Nothing to worry about. Although Jack Black is about to carry the film.

I know the memes of the movie, but as hard as it is to admit... this movie looks absolutely incredible. All of us never expected it to look as good as it is. Also, the voices actually fit, especially Jack Black!
It's awesome, but the animation isn't exactly like the games! And I'm sorry if that sounds picky, but it just doesn't look like the game entirely! Hope that doesn't come across as picky!

Lou Albano and Walker Boone were the great Mario voices in cartoons. But Charles Martinet should voice for this movie instead, it'll make the movie a huge difference in the ratings from good to GREAT
@@arrowghost Um no.. it would absolutely hurt the ratings to have a serious movie and then have Martinet for 2 friggin hours lmao. Martinet is fantastic and the best Mario, but for a film of this category the regular guy Italian-Brooklyn accent shall do.

Seriously, go back and listen to Mario when he was voiced by captain Lou albano and Walker Boone in the original Mario cartoons. Both of them made an American accent work on Mario. When you compare Chris's voice acting to them, he fits right in

Brooklyn. Those are his origins, Italian American. I think everyone is used to martinet playing Mario all these years so hearing anything else is foreign. I’m excited to see the movie!
The voices in the movies aren’t too bad. The only thing is that I think Chris Pratt could have tried impersonating Lou Albano from the animated shows from yesteryear but otherwise I’m looking forward to it.

@@GrimBrother Part of me actually kind of wished Charles Martinet would be providing Mario and Luigi‘s voice in the film but it’s OK that he’s not.Really my only complaint about Chris Pratt providing Mario’s voice was that I couldn’t immediately tell he was using a Brooklyn accent
I was nervous because Bowser is one of my favorites and I never pictured him sounding like Jack Black, but this trailer put those fears to rest! I’m also relieved that Toad doesn’t just sound like Keegan Michael Key’s normal voice, because I was honestly kind of expecting that 😅
I'm thrilled he didn't do the "mario" voice for an hour and a half. As a massive mario fan...I would die hearing that for an hour. I'm thankful it's a little more tame and not super eccentric

The animation looks really good, and Jack Black sounds perfect as Bowser. As for Chris Pratt’s Mario voice, there is a hint of an accent during his final line, which sounds interesting.

I’m going to just keep typing this again and again this version of Mario is his original normal voice he’s originally from New York plus this whole movie takes place before he even discovered the mushroom kingdom that’s why Mario sounds like that overall I’m excited about the movie
Hey Brian! I don't know if you've seen the Film Theory prediction video about this movie, but it seems like Matpat maybe got a few things right based on this trailer! One of the specific predictions he made was that Chris Pratt might put on a New York accent, because the Bros. are originally from NYC (or New Donk as the alternate earth equivalent) based on some of the earliest games, and they're not actually from Italy. I won't spoil anything else from the theory, since the team deserves credit for all the work they did, but hopefully that helps the voice make a little more sense!

A lot of people don't remember that back when the Mario Bros had their kids tv show, Mario then also had a New York accent. It was only the video games that had the Italian accent.
I was so surprised how much I enjoyed this trailer. I LOVE those penguins, it’s so fun to catch different details when I rewatch. Trying to not get my hopes up too high, but I’m much more excited about this movie compared to before this trailer was dropped.

Jack Black as Bowser surprised me in the sense that he would even portray a a villainous character and I figured he was going to have the signature Jack Black voice...but he turned it into something I can enjoy. Kegan Michael Key is also very charismatic and energetic, so for him to play Toad and do a good job voicing him made me excited. I'm still on the rocks about Seth Rogan portraying Donkey Kong because it has me wondering the route the movie is going to take. Charlie Day, I'm not even a fan of and I think he's too serious to portray the role of Luigi imo, but I'm optimistic.

I think when we get more trailer footage, we'll see more of what voice performance Pratt will offer as Mario. If he uses the kind of tone that adds to a personality like with Emmet from The Lego Movie, I think it can work better than some people may think.

Honestly I think Chris Pratt does an amazing job because he doesn’t try to imitate the game voice. He gives Mario his own Italian voice, not that super high pitch squeak.
Also don’t really understand the hate on Illumination (I honestly love despicable me and the minion movies. They make LOL soooo much XD, which is the point. They’re supposed to be stupid.)

We only got a tease of Mario's voice. So far it sounds like he's going in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show voice which has the more Brooklyn sound, he still may have that Italian accent sound that we're familiar with. I feel sad for Charles though, I mean unless he didn't want to voice Mario? I don't know why he wouldn't maybe he didn't feel like he could pull it off with saying more than catchphrases for a whole movie length I mean he has before. Feels like a slap in the face to him after being committed to this character for pretty much Mario's entire existence.
