- The Untold Story Of Sarah Baartman
For the last couple of years, the thick trend has reigned supreme. Women are paying thousands of dollars to get bbl’s to look like the Kardashians, Cardi b, and Nicki Minaj.
But, in 1810, a young woman had a completely natural curvaceous body. She had excess fat tissue around her buttocks and hips, which made her look unusually large. Sara Baartman was an African lady who was captured and caged. She was treated like a circus animal and abused in freak shows.
On the stage, she was forced to wear outfits that kept her almost naked. People paid two shillings just to see her. But, those who paid a few extra more, got the chance to touch the woman’s black skin.
Known as, Hottentot Venus, Sarah was a subject to public scrutiny. She was trafficked and exploited for the s*xual entertainment of rich women and men. Because of how obsessed people were with her, her torment didn’t end even after her passing. This is her story.

This was a very good summary. The only essential and tragic detail missing is that the Cesar brothers were not Boers - they were "free Blacks" as it was called during the Cape slavery era back then. But they looked white and this is why when Hendrik arrived in England, his ethnicity was never questioned and he was treated like a white man.

But I believe her death was the Lord our creator saw her suffering and removed her from it. I read some time ago that she had a child from sexual abuse. A boy. But she loved him and did her best until they stopped paying her. Then in her struggle the little boy got sick and died because of no medical care. She is at peace now. No more suffering.

What happened to Sarah has always angered me and broke my heart. Even in death she was abused, mistreated and disrespected. Having finally been given a proper burial after so many decades, may she rest peacefully now.
