Thank you. Recently discovered some of the COE campgrounds. Looks like a journey across America has begun.

This helped me find a spot this summer. Thanks for the video.

Glad it helped, Alex. We benefitted from others creating similar videos for campgrounds we were interested in so we wanted to pay it forward. We plan to do it again this summer in Custer State Park in South Dakota.
You’re going to love Duckett Mill. And if you get really lucky, try to snag one of the big three at Sawnee on the other side of the lake.

Thank you! This is the first video of yours I have seen and you documented this campground perfectly. Very much appreciated. Now I need to see if you did Bolding Mill in Gainesville.

Gabrielle, we ALMOST went to Bolding Mill but opted for Bald Ridge Creek instead, which is another COE park on Lake Lanier. We’ll have that out in a few weeks.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for commenting!

Hi there, Imagine my surprise to see you filmed my camper on site 26. Yes, the crazy steep site right on the water. We have a 30' Imagine and had to build up the very bottom of the drive as to not lose our rear stabilizers and scrape the camper bumper. I used those yellow plastic blocks to build it up under the trailer tires and move it as we backed in. Took us hours to get it in there. We bought a pair of 10' 2x10's at Home Depot to get us out of there. Beautiful sight, but not for campers over 27/28 feet.

That’s good to know, Jackie. It makes me wonder how many other sites in there suffer from the same problem. Sorry you had to go through all that.
We didn’t have anywhere near the same view you had but we saw many sites that we would target were we to go back there (and we will eventually). By the way, we came very close to buying an Imagine MK2670 when we were first in the market for an RV. We eventually went with a Jayco Class C.
Thanks for commenting. Hopefully your information will help out others who may be interested in that site.

Glad you found value in it. We’ll be up in that area again next week where we hope to review another COE park on the lake. It’s a goldmine of campgrounds up there!
Thank you for watching! We appreciate you.

Thank you, Nina! These Army Corp of Engineer parks are some of our favorite campgrounds and touring videos have played a key role in helping us pick a camp site. Our hope is that these types of videos will be helpful to others looking to stay at the campgrounds.

Thanks for documenting that fabulous park! I wonder if it's packed most of the time? It looked like it had plenty of spots when you filmed.

Hi Larry. We arrived and did this video on a Sunday late afternoon, so I’m guessing all of the weekenders had left and there were plenty of openings. Over the course of the next three days the open spots disappeared and by Thursday evening the place was pretty much full.
I assume this is much like all the other popular parks, especially in the summer. You can sometimes find one or two days open here and there, but toward the weekends the campgrounds reach capacity.
Unless you prepare well in advance and make reservations very early, it’s tough to get a string of more than a day or too in any one spot. And if you want a premium site, you likely need to be sitting on the website reservation system at the earliest possible time. In the case of these COE parks, that’s six months to the day from the time you want it.
It’s even tougher where we’re from (Florida) if you want to get into state parks. From Oct. to the following May, it’s a feeding frenzy with the snowbirds grabbing all the availability.
      Good luck out there!

@@LeoCloutier Thanks for the note! We won’t likely be able to plan that far in advance this next year, so we'll keep it on the longer term bucket list 😄.

Great video. We used it to select site #77 for next week. You said in the video that you had a list of a dozen or so of your favorite sites. I did not find that. How do I get it? Thanks again.

Hi Chet. Thanks for watching and congrats on getting Site 77. Yeah, the intention while doing the drive through was to create a list of the top 10 or so sites, but it became obvious rather quickly that it would be tough to narrow it down even to 10 or 12 because there were so many. I'm still kicking myself for not catching that our camera was off from sites 95 through 106R because there were several in that grouping that were great.
I think in general I would suggest that there are several "bests" in different "groups". Sites 2-6 are right on the lake but if you look closely at the details on recreation.gov, those sites are for smaller rigs, like 30' or less. Then there is another grouping around the mid-20s that are terrific. Then there are about 5 or 6 in a row starting in the low 40s. Next comes your section, from about 77 all the way up to 83. I think if I had to pick ONLY one, it would be 80, with the long driveway down to the water. And I guarantee there was another grouping in the sites I missed because those higher numbers were right on the water.
That was the second campground we'd tried to film a walkthrough (we just started RVing in May of 2020), so we were really terrible at it. We've improved since then and I haven't been boneheaded enough to miss an entire swath like I did there. So hopefully if you're looking for sites in other campground we've been to since then, you won't be disappointed. I try to make a notation in a caption on the sites I think are best. I just was just too "green" to remember to do it for Duckett Mill. My apologies.
Let us know how you enjoy 77 after your trip. We'd love to know if it lived up to its promise.
