the point about cover letter is good, I used to write a whole lot of text but now I am trying a new strategy of setting up my ‘cover letter’ like a job posting, except it’s like an applicant posting - I highlight what they are looking for, characteristics I have, job achievements, and exposure to relevant knowledge/systems etc, each in their own sections that you would be able to scan within 5 seconds
I had asked this question on reddit because I've been going on interviews and was curious about how many people I'm actually competing against. One person said this- I used to get 1000 applications a month landing on my desk, 100 would be decent, we would interview maybe 10 and make 2 offers of which one would be accepted. Now to me that's crazy. 1000 applications and only 10 interviews. I looked up similar topics on reddit and most are saying 3-5 interviews. To me that's crazy when you're getting 100 plus applications per job.
It's wild how many people apply to jobsbut most people who apply for roles are not qualified for them so that's why you see that astounding number in applications vs who interviews for it
@@TechTualChatter That's because social media has adopted this apply anyway mentality. And also people preaching to hire for attitude train for skill. Another thing I hate is LInkedin's top applicant feature. it's been jobs they say I'm a top applicant and I'm like how?
I've had hella jobs ghost me after the final interview, tell me they decided to put the role on hold, or tell me they changed the requirements for the role in the last minute. So many of the roles I have interviewed for also end up getting reposted. These companies are full of crap.
Not true. I've always secured a job with or without a clearance. I even know professionals with a TS or a Q clearance who still have yet to be hired. Truth be told, companies want TS cleared people because it allows them to bill clients at the maximum rate. Thus, allowing companies to survive, thrive, and navigate todays inflation. Whereas, those with a public trust, a secret, a DHS suitability? Sure they can hire those with them, however, there's a billing cap associated. Make sense?
You guys are being totally one-sided. The economy is horrible. It's extremely hard to get a job in another field once you are displaced. America is basically going thru a hiring freeze. Stop thinking people are not doing the work to find another job. It's rough out here. If you were in elementary or highschool in 2008. You have no clue of a recession hun (I'm talkin to female host). You're very disrespectful and insensitive. Be careful of being narrow minded.
@brooklynfinest7906 it's not that hard to get an interview. Some people are doing the same things looking for new results. Now the wonky interview process can be interesting to navigate but other than that it shouldn't be this hard Also this was a small sample size of data so I take it with a grain of salt
It’s really not about making a less amount . It’s lots of ghost jobs.
Imagine u apply to jobs on Sunday and getting a rejection on Sunday😂😂😂
@@umargbadamosi6572 that's everywhere though. It happens to me at times
Unpopular opinion: We might be reaching a point in this economy where having a side hustle is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
We've been reached that point lol
And yet companies are still trying to somehow write that into the work contract not to have one
I don’t disagree with the mind set of find something however some people are working two jobs and are still looking for at eviction.
Agreed

Actually applying anyways has been around.
The more popular the company and role title is the more applications it will get
