  • Watch as I show you an example of how I turn ordinary objects into abstract paintings. Get ready to be inspired when you see just how easy it is to create abstract art from everyday items. My inspiration for this painting was a simple bowl of onions, garlic, and shallots.
    In this demonstration, I will show you how I take everyday objects and elevate them into abstract painting ideas that are both visually intriguing and thought-provoking. By playing with composition, color, and artistic intuition, I will guide you step-by-step as I capture the essence of these humble vegetables and translate them onto my sketchbook page.

    As Chuck Close wisely said..."Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work." I find that quite encouraging.

    I liked to watch. Very creative. I sure will try to make something like this. But with thins and little bottles or glasses. Something like that. I'll make a sketch in my note book and then pass to a mixed media paper and paint. Love the colors you used 😊

    I created my first mixed media abstract botanical last month. Now I'm itching to start another. Canvas gessoed and begging me to begin. Sooo, I think I may give your prompt a try. Again, I'm learning a great deal from your videos. ☮️

      Hey Kathleen! That's so exciting! The only thing better than a canvas that's begging for your attention is when you finally give it your attention 😊 I have several looking at me right now...😂😂😂 Let me know how it goes.

    Flowers are always a good one for abstract paintings, as, they have many shapes, designs, delicate features, as well as vibrant colors, which you can change as you paint. They are a good source, as, you can always find flowers, in your garden, on your walks, or, you can buy some. Placing them around your home works well, and, for me, I am always inspired by them. When I do not know what to paint, just looking out my window at the wild flowers gives me a wonderful source for turning into abstract.

      Hey, Emily! Great suggestion. I love painting flowers, but I tend to paint them more representational. I'll give that a try as abstract inspiration. Thanks!

    Hi Chris I really enjoy watching your process. I'm pretty new at doing some abstract work having done some water color work for the past couple years. I'm really loving abstract now. Just getting in there and doing it is fun. I'm going to try using different tools and my fingers being one of them. Love the movement and texture from seeing you use your fingers for spreading paint. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy all your videos!❤️🏜️

      Thank you so much, Susan! Yeah, painting with your fingers is a fun way to blend paint and get some unique textures and looks. I'm just starting to get into watercolors. So far I'm really enjoying it.

    Hi Chris, I have colour shapers, I also have a thinner, more solid tool, more used for applying texture paste through stencils. I am considering investing in a catalyst wedge. Would it be a good addition and does it differ in use to the colour shapers?
    When you recreate these pieces onto a larger scale, how much are you trying to replicate and keep true to the original? Or are you starting with this piece as your reference but letting intuition lead the direction?
    I've only really got fully into art and mixed media over the past couple of years, as a wonderful yet unexpected outcome of using art in my counselling to access emotional trauma. Isn't it amazing what art can do!?
    I'm very much an experimenter, I love to try everything. I'm still working my way through the ways to play with paint and other things.
    I do art just for myself in my art room called The Shinery. I'm on Facebook if you would like to have a look. Just search The Shinery. 😊

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Sun Rays! Yes, a catalyst wedge can definitely be a great addition to your toolkit-it's a little more stiff and has a different feel and versatility compared to color shapers, especially for larger, thicker and more dynamic textures. They have several types of wedges, but the basic one is what I commonly use.
      When scaling up, I usually start with the original as a reference but let intuition somewhat guide me. I'm still open to letting new directions alter and guide the piece.
      I started painting about 5 years ago and yes, I find it to be such a great way to connect with myself as well. It's fantastic to hear how art has become such a meaningful part of your journey-I'll definitely check out The Shinery on Facebook! 😊
