- This week I'm ranking some of my most difficult hyperrealistic cakes while making a watercolor-themed CAKE! I love the super-cute little onion guy I painted on the notebook 💚

When my Grandma would visit a restaurant that she didn't like, she would say that she would rather eat the plates themselves, rather than the bad food. so my suggestion, from Grandma, would be to make a stack of plates into a cake.

Tie dye has to be the hardest thing I've ever painted too, it's crazy how difficult it can be

I love how she calls the stem a 'banana handle'. I've never heard it that way before 😂
I will say as an artist it is validating when people say your art is good but it's even more validating when you are able to look at your art and say wow I did good because artists tend to be very critical of themselves so when they're able to look at a piece of art and say I am proud of this that's one of the most validating things ever which I'm glad that you're able to do with your cakes which are art
“And I make cakes that don’t look like cakes” you know, this line will never get old.

So realistic! I can’t imagine how long it took to cut each page exactly spaced by hand. There’s a reason us bookbinders use machines!
I did think it was a little odd that the blue was the messiest color on the pallet when the painting hardly looked like it used blue much at all, but I think that’s a tiny nitpick for a super cool cake!
To me, it looks like the artist planned to use the blue, but used too much water, made a mess and decided not to use it after all!
The artist’s toddler got their hands on the blue when the artist took a bathroom break 😉

I think my favorite part of the sketchbook cake was how the top few pieces of paper were loose. It's mind bending to watch you cut it because for a split second it looks even *less* like a cake!
