I'd advise against using a bias ply slick and skinny on a street car. You run the risk of damaging driveline components and it's also really sketchy on a track that's not solely prepped for them and is going to see a mix of regular street tires. A dot drag radial and normal tires up front are more than enough for any street car.
Add more cranking fuel for cold weather E85.. I had a flex fuel Avalanche and when I interrogated the fuel maps it showed a 40% increase in fuel during crank below a certain temperature ( I forget what temperature it was.. but it was close to 32-35*)..
Does the ECU master have a cranking/starting fuel enrichment table? When i ran e85 with s300 I was able to make that thing start like a regular car every time, even down to 15F sitting outside. I had 750cc injectors and they were nearly maxed out on cold start, but really made a difference. E85 cars need a LOT of fuel on cold start.
I agree, not enough prime pulse and cranking fuel to get it started within few seconds. Afterstart enrichment seems to be a bit poorly tuned too. Also If no idle air control valve is being used to get enough air flow into the engine, the ignition advance needs to be advanced easily up to 25-30degs on cold starts to even get it to idle without throttle input. This is all tuning related, not an E85 issue because I've tuned my EMU on E85 and it works perfectly when dialed in.

Only if you don't know how to tune it correctly. My jzx100 with emu black and E85 starts like a charm on cold mornings, and I don't even have any kinda IACV valve. Only fixed throttle opening and ignition idle control lol.

With E85 being such a bastard to start, wouldn't it be worth having a small tank of petrol in the car with a separate map for cold starts. Once it's warmed up, flick a switch and swap pumps and map to E85? Or is it not as simple as that? It isn't that common at the pumps in the UK.

Satveer Degun id say cost is the biggest factor. you need a intake that is made for staged injection, 6 more injectors, and a seperate fuel system...all for a clean cold start. Imo 93 octane with a meth kit would be the easy solution but honestly I don't think many people drive supras when it's 30 degrees out lol.
I've run 7 years with E85 all year round. Coldest start without block heater has been in -32 C/-25 F with 76% ethanol. Needed a couple attemps to start but was running in less than 10 seconds. Just needs a lot more fuel in crank to get enough fuel vapor to combust and more ASE.
