  • Jim Cramer goes one-on-one with Apple CEO Tim Cook to find out more about what the company is seeing in China, where he sees growth in the coming year and more.
In its last fiscal year, Apple generated $100 billion in revenue that was not tied to what has long been considered its flagship product, the iPhone, CEO Tim Cook told CNBC on Tuesday in a wide-ranging interview with Jim Cramer.
"In this last quarter, if you take everything outside of iPhone, it grew at 19 percent, 19 percent on a huge business," Cook said on "Mad Money."
Apple's services, which include the App Store, iTunes, Apple Pay, Apple Music and iCloud, have been growing rapidly quarter over quarter. In 2017, Cook said he wanted Apple's services revenue to double by the end of 2020, a sentiment he reiterated in Tuesday's interview.
That growth, combined with the success of the company's wearable products and its ventures into health and wellness, could be a sign of what's next for the consumer technology giant.
Here's what Cook thinks about what's next for his company, U.S.-China trade, naysayers on Wall Street, Apple's ongoing dispute with Qualcomm, and the success of the Apple Watch and the AirPods.

I don't know, but I think the China sales disappoint is mainly due to Chinese phone competitor whose phone are really good and a LOT cheaper. Economy slowdown surely is a factor, but major factor is iPhone is not as supreme compared to its competitor as it used to be. In public and shareholder's meeting, Tim blame it to macro-economy, but I bet he knows, this time, apple is facing the biggest challenge.

      当然了,当售价已经超过本身的功能价值的时候,就可以定义为奢侈品了。iPhoneXS系列可以称上手机界的奢侈品了;因为这些功能1K-2K的国产机都可以实现;现在愿意支付这么高手机费用的已经是奢侈品级别了,就像女士包一样,买的是品牌,不是真正它的价值;苹果从消费者来看,最好的价值应该停留在iPhone7,这一代之后的产品基本没什么创新;

In China people use their smartphones for WeChat ecosystem to do everything from social media, banking and payments under one app. You don’t need an iPhone to use WeChat. Any inexpensive android phone can do what most Chinese smartphone users needs.

What is up with the negative responses?
I mean - is it fun for people to be negative or something ?
I think it is an utter waste of time.
Better to provide constructive criticism and solutions if there is a problem.
Complaining is easy. Providing a rock solid solution takes a lot of effort.
Do I think Apple is perfect?
No. I can state several things that they could do better.
However I believe overall the products they provide are good products.
Everyone likes to dramaticize the things that the media reports about companies.
However the reality is that details are missing from what the media shares.
We only know half the story, yet we share our viewpoint on this stuff as if it is fact.
I advocate for more positivity on the internet and brutal honesty yet in a civil tone.

Ehh as an Apple fan boy Apple really didn't do that many risks or innovations. Especially when they rehash the same design every year. The only innovative thing that they did was the Apple watch series four I love mine to death. Airpods are dope too, but I still wanna wear high quality wired headphones.
But still if you are thinking about buying stock I got advice buy it. It'll always go up.
If wanna penetrate China/India you have to make the phones cheaper because in India for example they really only use Smartphones for social media and communication so why should they buy a almost 2000 usd (if you convert the rupees to usd) if they only use social media and communication when they can buy a 300$ phone or even cheaper for the same function?
Also Siri is trash Alexa and Google assistant are much superior.

Let’s not forget how they keep forcing updates that destroy the quality of old phones. My battery is almost dead within a couple hours, and this is after I spent $20 on getting a new battery when they were called out.

In middle school, I brought healthy homemade Chinese food for lunch. People didn't understand what I was eating and went "Ewwww." Feeling ashamed, I started to buy school lunch with unhealthy burgers and fries in every meal. For the longest time, I was subconsciously thinking "this is America" and consumed the junk American School system offered. Now that I'm an adult, I became more acceptive and understanding of myself. I can say I'm a more educated consumer and I usually prefer Asian cuisines. I don't need to follow the American trend and go vegan or gluten free.
What Tim doesn't understand is people in China might prefer to eat Chinese Pears than the American Apple, and it seems that he is only listening to the "American" customers and failed to realize that "America doesn't represent the whole world."

Apple solders all there cpu, gpu and memory to the motherboard charging an impossible amount to fix it when it can be fixed for less and blocking things such as the right to repair bill
Apples refusal to put a new keyboard on any of the MacBooks even thou facing a class action lawsuit
Apple refused to acknowledge the reason for the battery swap was because of a class action lawsuit regarding them slowing down there phone
An eco system that is disjointed and has no cohesion with MacBooks having things like usbc ports whilst on the iPhone dont
An eco system that has no direction in the long term as Mac os and iOS there is no cohesive strategy as companies like Microsoft have brought them together and not putting money behind things like ar or vr in there desktop
Missing the boat on things like ai which are so vital for the future whilst companies like Google and Microsoft and Amazon have invested heavily in devices that affect every aspect of the household
An increase in prices with no justification on all of there products line putting them out of the reach of there ecosystem and then putting things like the T2 chip which shortens the lifecycle of every product because you cannot upgrade anything .
Essentially if you are paying for something that is more highly priced you expect it to last longer and be more premium but in a world where you have other devices that offer a premium feel for less money and more innovation such as some of the Chinese brands and companies like Microsoft competing with the surface lineup.

Sure, even if sales numbers are down, higher prices mean that the profits shouldn't drop by much. But if you underestimate the competition that could do a lot more because they don't have a brand image to maintain, then you're going to have problems.

Why was there no discussion about the continual increases for all the Apple products? I mean, way more than inflation increases... I’m a pretty typical Apple user and I haven’t bought a new iPhone since the 6. My last upgrade was a second hand 7+ and my next upgrade won’t be an iPhone unless Apple can fix the pricing structure. If Apple are relying on people like me (who have had iPhones since the 3), then they are in trouble.

For example, AirPods, iPad, Apple Watch still great in China. Especially iPad, the number one tablet in China. Because Android tablets really sucks! About Mac, because of the higher price, it is not selling well from the beginning of Apple selling Mac in China.

I’m chinese , the reason Apple doesn’t sell well is because the price and it competitors. I had iPhone and iPad since almost first generation, so I can tell some of my feelings, The price of iPhone is rising every upgrade, and every upgrade doesn’t bring you the surprises early iPhone could. Specially, Huawei is China local company that offer products only to satisfy Chinese customers. I can see the future that the major cell phone company which can domain Chinese market is Huawei, but iPhone will still attract certain amount of people in China. Therefore if in recent years Apple can’t make a revolutionary product or lower sale price, Apple could fail chinese market.

I think people don't upgrade because they don't see the value. At the same time Samsung phone sales are down also so it's a bloated market. My daughter's macbook pro only lasted a year, then died. Took it to apple store they said it would cost $400 to diagnose the problem, forced me to buy a new one because there was no guarantee that they could repair it. I'm still using my MacBook Pro 17" model from 2010 where I replaced the hard drive myself with an SSD drive.

This is cover up, number manipulations at its best. Mr. Cook is trying to save his job. His first statements about how his business is growing have been debunked by Dan Niles. Their actual growth rate is anemic and had a major contraction this year in services and physical product sales.
Still in his first statement Mr Cook continues the sales pitch with now outright lies about his "teams dedication to innovations." This undoubtedly is the most laughable idea at this point. Apple has been last to every new market idea in the last 3 years. Nothing is more of an example of poor innovation than Apple's version of a smart speaker. Hands down the worst speaker on the market and when they trued to give it away nobody would buy it. Siri has already lost that space to Alexa and virtually every other speaker maker out there. So mucb for intergration.
Still further in his first statement he references the "eco-system that we built..." as a on going revenue generator. Once again Mr Cook is out of touch, unaware, or poorly informed that the Apple ecosystem is about to crumble upon the SCOTUS ruling, and the flight of companies like Netflix from their pay for sevice platform.
Mr Cook, needs to step aside and allow a more nimble minded executive to step into the role of CEO. Mr Coom is the Steve Ballmer of Apple. Nothing proves this more than when he is asked about what be sees as a path forward for the company and Mr Cook's response is summed up as 'More of the same thing!'
I wouldnt touch this stock unless it hit $100 or less. Too much price manipulations going on with poorly timed buy backs, number fudging of growth rates, and reduced transparency of products sales.
