Polite correction: BTS do it all - writing and producing included. BP perform it all, but do not participate in making any of their music. The BP rappers do not write their bars or make their beats or contribute to production. BTS members have written 100% of everything rapped in their entire 11-year discography. They contribute to writing lyrics, composition, arrangements, and production for their rap and lyrical songs. They also release an incredible amount of music outside of their label (with permission and encouragement) in the form of collabs, cover songs, solo projects, and movie/tv soundtracks.

@@mariepettersson6422 no one has ever said that other people aren’t involved in the rest of the song, but the song you said to look at ALSO has the three rappers listed. Why? Because THEY wrote their rap verses. If other writers are listed, it’s for the other verses and the chorus.

BlackPink and other kpop groups have "kpop rappers", rappers who rap rap written for them and taught how to rap the rap. BTS has real rappers who write their own rap and come up with their own flows.
BTS rappers also communicate their own original thoughts and ideas, as opposed to the thoughts and ideas of others.
What if the others kpop groups write their own raps what does that make them? Gen

@@1Luv_u well since i'm not a rapper or know much about hiphop, i'm not so sure if there are any other "requirements" to be a real rappers, but I'm sure rappers write their raps bc it's basically "rhythm and poetry", a form of art that black artists initially used to speak out against society. I've seen ppl call themselves rappers since they write their stuff, tho they're not well-known and it's more like a self-proclaimed title. But I think you can look more into it since it's an interesting topic 😁
Supreme Boi was originally a trainee under Bighit Entertainment but when BTS went from being a rap group only to more of an idol group that would have singers and dancing he quit being a trainee. But then he later joined the company as a a producer. You should watch the live performance they did of this at their Busan concert in 2022, they went so hard and they even changed some of the lyrics and dropped the f bomb in front of government officials. Actually this song is from 2014, it's just the lyric video was uploaded 5 years ago.

BTS’s rapline each write their own verses since their debut, despite J-Hope not being experienced in it like both RM and Suga already were, he learned and practiced with them to get better at it, and was already really good when they actually debuted, you can check his first solo song called 1verse.
I see this comment, and the fact you explained this shows me there're some ignorant biases in the reaction or initial ignorance. You cannot put rapping, 875 with bp in a sentence because it's offensive. I'm not watching this reaction. Thank's for the comment.

BTS Cypher is a different animal.... No comparison in a KPOP world!
BTS is pop, R&B, rap, hip hop, jazz, indie... the genre you can imagine... all mixed or not, not pre-defined structure... outcome? No boring song, no boring and non-skip albums.
They provide us with songs as a group, subunit (rap line, vocal line, trios or duos) or solos... not a single bad song in their huge production.
As I always say: they are perfect as solos, and the perfection itself as BTS.

I am 100% your clone... just 59 years old. I have seen MJ, Prince, Heart, Alabama all in concert... and my first albums were the Star Wars soundtrack (the original movie) and Pink Floyd The Wall. I just like good music. BTS is my first ever time I have become a fan of the group. I saw SUGA at day 2 D-Day and have never been to any concert even close to as hype and amazing as his! I will need to take someone who knows CPR if I actually get to go to a full BTS concert! BORAHAE!

No, BTS is not just pop like you are stating. Pop is just one of many genres they sing or create. They are a little different than other Kpop groups. This song is to those rappers and haters who are saying RM, Suga & JHope are not real rappers because they are in (so called Idols in Korea) the boyband.
a small correction Rap Monster was not RM's name before he joined the group it was his name when they started. Before joining Big Hit when he was an underground rapper he was known (and quite popular) as Runch Randa.
My faverite cypher are nombre 2 and 4.
in order of my preference for this cypher I would say RM, Suga and Jhope. Generally Suga is my favorite when we talk about rap but I admit that on this cypher I find him far below what he is capable of delivering to us (even if I admit he tore the end) but RM for once In my opinion this cypher is really above

Usually, kpop groups rarely get into the production process, not even write their own songs.. BTS is an exception.. they have their opinions being Heard by the company in processing their albums and performance, that's why their art and musicality is on higher level than other groups..

The Whole BUSAN concert would give them an excellent taste of the diversity of their discography. BP is awesome in their genre... but that is all they do. No hate.. I love Kill This Love!

Although we have to read everything, but you should hear army singing it word for word in USA. Nothing is dated about BTS music. The rap line performed Cypher 3 at Busan Concert the first note and army went wild..

RM's first stage name in BTS while a trainee and a few years after debut was Rap Monster, now his stage name is only RM. Before joining Big Hit and before Rap Monster, one of his stage names was Runch Rander.

BTS as a group is not mainly pop, BTS is a group who has a few pop songs. But that is not how it ia defined.Those who have listened long enough know they expanse across a range of genres.
Granted the Kpop tag does cause confusion by definition especially when viewing drom a Western lens. And although it speaks more to an industry than just a type of music its over simplification can be problematic.
The latest rapline song is 'Ugh!' from 2020. It's really good
Yes, and find the live performance of it in Busan - they did it with this song (Cypher Pt. 3).
Both RM and Suga were already established in the underground rap scene when they were recruited to form BTS. Senior rappers really insulted them, saying that they sold out. They even called Suga sugar, saying they were girls. Nowadays, they're fame and success eclipse those same haters. Cypher 3: Killer is their response, kind of a "How do you like me now, " revenge song.
Jhope's verse when he says "all the girls call me" should read "beep beep" (NOT Pippi) for English speakers because he's making the phone sound you get when you dial someone.... MANY of these fan-made lyric videos have areas of poor translation because they are not made by actual English speakers, but by people running the Korean verses through a translation app that can't take context into account
Cypher 3 actually is from 2016, so older than 5 years. When watching BTS content, and especially lyric videos and lives, TH-cam dates tend to be content creator postings dates and not those of track release.

10:34 this is a weird statement. There’s no such thing as “Normal BTS”. They actually aren’t pop. They have some pop sounding songs which are really the only ones that saw radio play in the USA but k-pop doesn’t translate to USA pop music. It’s a catch all term for music that’s popular in Korea or “Idol music”. It covers a ton of genres. BTS began as a hip hop group and has evolved their sound over a decade. They cover dozens of genres.
This song is addressing their haters in the Korean underground hip hop scene. Suga and RM (rap monster was his early stage name in BTS. He changed and shortened it to just RM as he felt it no longer represented the kind of music he wants to make and pigeonholed him just into the hip hop genre. His pre BTS stage name was Runch Randa.) both began in the underground hip hop scene before deciding to debut as idols and took a ton of hate from people in the scene for the decision.
I strongly suggest starting with Taylor’s guide. I see it’s been suggested a few times. You guys are a little off in some of your assumptions and it’s a good start for giving you some perspective.

J Hope verse unnies call me pipi or beep beep. It's a double entendre. Unnie refers to older women. Pipi or beep beep is the sounds of a phone when you get a message. So he says unnie call him and all suden he gets a message from them making his point. But it can be the sound of censorship. He said older women call him (something sexual), so he uses beep beep to censor himself 😏😏. He leaves it to your imagination.

Some context on the cyphers. Early in their careers, they got a lot of pushback or hate from rappers because RM & Suga came from underground rap and went into an idol group. So these are directed towards those haters. You might want to check out "A Guide to BTS members: The Bangtan 7". It gives you a quick summary of all the members. You might also want to check out AgustD's "Daechwita" and "AgustD". AgustD is Suga from BTS. You might want to check out RM's "Joke" and "Do You". Also, from J-Hope "More" and "Chicken Noodle Soup".
RM was not Rap Monster before BTS. They came up with that name for BTS while he was a trainee. He used to go by Raunch Ronda when he was underground. Suga goes by Agust D when he does his solo work. Supreme Boi was a trainee to be in BTS, but he ended up being a writer/producer for big hit. BTS do all genres of music, not just pop.

Love that you checked the rapline out ! 😊 this was fun to watch. I love it when someone slowly gets into them and you can see the process of that. So this is cool.
My note would be that there isn’t a typical BTS sound to be honest :) the rapline of the group always has incredible songs like this and it’s also part of their sound. I would love you guys to to react to the live performances. They are even better. Cypher pt3 from the Busan concert ( although the Autotune is a bit to heavy for me there - but the energy is so so worth it)

Supreme Boi is actually good friends with RM, they were in multiple underground rap teams together from a fairly young age. When RM joined Hybe(then Big Hit Ent.) Supreme joined soon after. Once they started to add in the dancing and then added a few singers, Supreme decided he would rather be just a producer. It's what he wanted, so Bang offered him a job as an in house producer and to this day he's still with the company, he helps a lot of artists that are under HYBE. But he also always has time to help out BTS members when they need or want. He's good friends with all members but rapline and RM he's the closest to.
Rapline especially back then, they would once in a while make raps like this to combat the rappers who hated on them just because they were in an idol group. Since them, most K rappers respect BTS but you still see some every now and then who insist RM, Suga, and J-Hope are not real rappers- usually till they find out one of the legends of K-rap/hip hop is actually friends with BTS and especially the rapline of BTS.

I can highly recommend checking out their LIVE performance of all the the cyphers (1-4) from 2017 in Korea where they were all in white. Supreme Boi were in stage on the turn table.

Cajoles is an english word, its when you influence (persuade, is a better word than influence) someone through flattery.

With BTS its important to take the time to dig into the lyrics as well as take time to appreciate any visuals that are within any of their mvs. The amount of hard work, detail, thought and craftsmanship that they put into their music is astonishing. So enjoy, watch, and listen as many times as needed to take it all in. They're true artists and definitely worth the extra effort💜

Why would you say bts is mainly pop when that's far from the truth like wow you don't know bts genre's at all if you think they are just pop it's a bit messed up. Maybe you should watch the guide to bts again and listen to their songs from 2013 till 2024 I garentee you you'll eat those words.

Cypher pt 1-4 are all diss tracks to the Korean underground hip-hop rap artists (ages 28-35), who in December 2013 at a live radio celebration, at a one year BTS rap anniversary, bulied the 19 year old RM and 20 year old Suga! One in particular. B-Free, from Hawaii, called RM and Suga crossdressing makeup wearing girls and sellouts for joining an idol group, not true hip-hop artists!!!
I recommend their solo Trivia songs on BTS's album- JHope's Trivia: Just Dance, Suga's Trivia: Seesaw, and RM's Trivia: Love! Beautiful songs, with beautiful messages.
Suga, goes by an alter ego Agust D, and has a trilogy! Start with the self-titled song Agust D, So Far Away from his first mixtape; tge Daechwita from his second mixtape, then Haegeum, Amygdala, and Snooze featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto [pianist/Oscar award winning composer/Suga mentor] and WooSung [from The Rose, Korean rock band].

Oh that's what they were trying to say. I was so confused because I misheard what the guy in the middle said as "K-hole" and few thoughts ran through my head; 1) there is no way BTS would ever put K-holes in their lyrics 2) they probably don't know what it means 3) how these guys don't know what it means 4) would love to see what he found in his search for K-hole.

SUGA, RM and JHope. I love their solo projects as well because its way so different from one another but you'll get to see their personalities and their unique styles of rapping and music preferences.
I listen to their songs, depends on my mood but I have all of them on my lists of playlists😁, like BTS playlists, I have " Fight songs" playlist , "Slow songs", " Dance songs", " Rap" etc.,

Even though cyphers are nice to react to, personally I think you should have opened up with their song HIP HOP PHILE aka HIP HOP LOVER which pays tribute to all rap artists and such that came before them and what made them pursue it that lead it being part of their lives.
