I know people are obsessed with his verses in part 3 and 4 but whos talking about part 2 😭it was SO good
- 3rd generation leaders - BTS is considered part of the 3rd generation wave of kpop - first and second generation are considered "old school" kpop and they hold a position of respect as the ones that paved the way for younger generations of kpop - BTS and Blackpink are considered 3rd generation, TXT, Ateez, and Stray Kids are generally considered part of the 4th generation
- Rap Monster, Randa, Rida, Rapmon, your dad - a list of top 5, and Namjoon and his aliases (from back when he was doing underground rap) are 4 of them xD
- Hallyu - Chinese word for the wave of Korean culture that is sweeping the globe in the form of music, drama, fashion, and beauty products
- old caterpillars - I'm SO glad you picked up on that - most reacters just kinda glide right past that part, never realizing just how amazing that insult truly is - caterpillars have the potential within them to evolve into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the heavens - by calling his enemies "old caterpillars", it means they're long past their prime, wasted that potential, and made nothing of themselves - it is both poetic and brilliant
- "go to Hawaii" - B-Free is actually a Korean American, and from Hawaii, so yeah, this is a very clever diss xD
- a little side note, in Korean, referring to someone as "yah" is considered very rude, as it equates to something like "hey you" in English, and is considered very informal speech used between same age peers and friends - saying it to someone older is a sign of disrespect - B-Free is older, and Yoongi ends Cypher 2 by laughing and yelling "yah", showing he has zero respect for him, and doesn't give a shit
- crow tit - a species of tiny fluffy bird, indigenous to Eastern Europe, Asia, and some parts of southeast Asia - in Korean, the word is baepsae (which is the title of another of BTS' songs) - baepsae is also the slang term for "try hard" based on the Korean idiom, "a crow tit will rip its legs trying to keep up with a stork" - the tiny little bird has short little stubby legs, as opposed to a tall stork, with its long legs

RIP to those who has never heard Rap Mon's 1st mixtape in its entirety. Throw Away, Adrift, Life are gems! His solo music is complex, existential yet affirming! His musically is so versatile, he wrote Joke, Dimple, Black Swan, just to name a few. Never forget he's got 170+ song credits and is responsible for most of BTS' lyrics that sets them apart from other groups 💜

The reason why we say Cypher 2 is for B Free is cuz he's actually from Hawaii (idk raised there or born there)
So the "Go to Hawaii, go home" is believed to be directed to him
And yes, some people have gotten offended before, but BTS has never actually mention particular people (B Free aside), Suga has said "I never dissed anyone specifically. If someone feel targeted, then it's their problem."
i still hope you do read the doolset translations on your own time! cypher lyrics need a lot of explanations cause rap line's wordplay and references... uuuh on another level

The cyphers def need to be appreciated in order b/c you can def see their growth and maturity in each one. You can see Hobi settling into his style each time. Also Suga’s be mad, I’ma keep earning, be healthy is literally the best mic drop bars to end the whole series.
Namjoon starts and plays mind tricks on you, then he tag teams Hobi and he disses you in such a way that you are smiling because he is so positive and gives you a tiny fraction of a break, then he tags Suga and he just straight up murders you.

Since I’m seeing a lot of comments about my dislike for supreme boi’s verse I thought I’d clear some things up so people don’t get the wrong idea here. I’m not going to publicly talk too much about my opinion of Supreme boi because so much of it is unknown with very little facts. I’m here for the music so that’s what I’m gonna focus on NOT the drama. I was criticizing his verse on the track NOT him as a person. This was not me trying to fall into “Cancel culture”. I know that supreme boi had a hand in a lot of the boy’s early work and that he was going to be in BTS but decided not to. I actually think supreme boi has some talent especially when it comes to production but all I was voicing here was that his verse didn’t flow well and that honestly it could have been left out.
That’s all I’m gonna say on the Matter. 💜

If you feel like you need to give love to the vocal line i would suggest Let Go (live stage mix) - its from their 2018 japanese album, it is an all members song but the vocal line was just on fire. I wouldn't suggest House of Cards and The Truth Untold because u are going through the albums in order and its kind of story line connected. But Let Go is a good choice if you want to step down from the order😁

Ps. The BTS rapline is full of stars, each one brings a unique mastery of the craft. I mean, RM, the master and commander with the voice and the control and ability to rap over multiple changing flows between two languages. Then JHope with his melodic and suave cadence and flow who delivers hard hitting lyrics with so much swag. Suga, all intensity and emotion who is unapologetic in his truth and lyrics.

In Cypher pt. 2, The “niga gara hawaii” is incorrect, it is actually Suga. Its a reference from an old Korean movie that has to do with the dialect of people from Gyeongsang province, where suga and a few other bts members are from. Its to show the accent of there since people consider that area to create “strong” or “tough” minded people.
