I have a 4 month coonhound--1/4 Treeing Walker, 1/4 each bluetick, redtick, & redbone! His head is just like the pup in your tutorial, but his body is all redtick with 3 big spots the red colour. I will keep painting him til I can really capture his look and spirit, and it doesn't just look like blobs of paint, lol!

Are most of the layers wet on dry except for the first wash?
For this one, I would say yes! I add a lot of layers wet on dry after that first wash and just soften edges.
