    You are too kool.
    I have a pitbull about the same color as the dots above the eyes.
    I'll play around with burnt umber and yellow ochre. Awesome job!

    I love your videos so much and this one especially is beyond sweet. Also very educating, if you have a small understanding of watercolors and color theory this is very helpful. Great job! I really see all the talent, time and work you put in this piece

    Hi Emily!! You know what one other person made this comment and I happen to agree I think the dogs body needs to be a little bit darker but it is oh so cute!!!!

    I love your work. Thank you for posting this....I learned a lot. That dry brushing is so hard on your brushes tho. I've tried using older acrylic brushes for this technique but for some reason it doesn't turn out as well. Anyway, beautiful job. Thanks again.

    Emily, I am thinking of joining your online instruction..so - question- how many new videos do you add weekly? Will u be doing more portraits? ( I got Mary Whyte's book! read cover to cover already) I 'd like to learn more portraits work and of course still pets. Also the ones you do have there don't expire do they? and I did see we can cancel at any time yes? anything I need to know ? thanks so much.. you are a great teacher and amazing artist....ps..where can we share work that we do with you ? xoxo.

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great questions! My goal is to add a new full length tutorial to my membership site at least once a week. Currently I have two portrait tutorials, and I do plan on painting more! I’m also going to try to include a few shorter more bite sized tutorials. Tutorials never expire. With a membership you can watch and rewatch as often as you like! You can cancel any time and still have access through the entire month from the day you sign up. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    What is the name & size of the brush you used when dry brushing this dog, please? It really does a great job of creating fur effect. Thank you!

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the dry brush technique on this one I was using a cheap synthetic Arteza liner brush. You can use any stiffer synthetic round brush to do this technique effectively. I think this was a size 2.

    Wonderful tutorial , I'm getting ready to paint our basset hound and this was perfect timing. question, what color did you mix for the dark black. I'm trying to mix a good blue black

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Daniel Smith Indigo and Burnt Umber. I love this combo because it can be either cool or warm or neutral depending on how much of each color you mix in.

    Hi ! I love yourstyle of painting. What is the splayed brush you switch to around 10:50 ? Did you buy itas such or is it a brush you modified ? I ve never seen a comb style brush for watercolor.

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a round brush loaded with paint--I press down the bristles on my palette and they hold that shape.

    When you pay for tutorials do you get the outline of the animal as well as the full length tutorial

      For the large majority - yes! Some of them I actually teach how to do the sketch, too.

    Is this all watercolor? If so, I didn't realize it could be that opaque.

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there is definitely a great range of opacities!

    Very beautiful but i think dog's head is darker than its body. You can make its body darker
