What is the best brand for skateboard decks?
Generally it doesn’t really matter bc most of them will feel the same anyway. There is only slight differences between brands and you’ll only feel it if you’ve been skating for years. Even then it’s all about personal preference.
So what’s your favorite skate deck brand? My is probably GIRL
Yo
April and Tactics (my local shop decks)
Baker
If you just get started you chould buy maybe a complete
Mine is Santa Cruz..
My parents just bought me that 3 days ago. I'm obsessed!!
I know it's yung wavy when i heard chilled dude speaking on my stories
Most brands do not have the same shape and size, it doesn’t matter when your first starting, but if you’ve been skating for a hot minute you can tell the differences in shape between board brands
@@hollow7777 just because they’re made by the same board manufacturer doesn’t mean they have the same shape, example: Element, Plan B, toy machine, and disorder are all made by PS Stix but have significantly different shapes, hell there are many different shapes just within element it’s self
@@hollow7777 girl has like 20 different shapes and thats 1 singular brand that has completely different shapes
Exactly I’ve been skating deathwish and primitive for a while and just got a Powell prelate deck and the nose of the board is tiny compared to any other deck… which I like
Facts!!!
That's why he said "for beginners"...
Beginners can't tell, he was just talking about popsicle-shaped. Everyone knows that, quit being so nitpicky
Personally, my dad had a BLIND deck when I was young, he had the traditional reaper one. So, I recently built my first complete and got the exact same one and it’s personally inspiring. I’ll admit it’s certainly premium feeling and very high quality
i also own blind, i always loved the graphics, i had the mcentire pro deck but gave it away to a kid with a really bad chipped tail
Frog, GX1000, Enjoi, Girl, Sovrn, and Welcome have some of my favourite decks of all time
The girl phat boards they did a run of were absolutely indestructible lmao but all the shaped welcome boards I’ve had have broken super quickly and in super weird ways, like splitting down the middle of the tail or under the trucks, and they weren’t bolted in too tight or anything
@@pissingspeedrun holy shit really? That’s weird. I’ve had a shaped welcome deck for like 7 months and it’s not broken yet
Honestly Im a sucker for any Powell classic deck. Anything with some Bones Brigade kind of feel makes me just 👌👌
Much love and respect to you and your channel Yung wavy. I hope that all is well for you and your family and friends.
Personally I like Sovrn, there boards are always artistic... I think it reflects my personality. So they encourage me to keep skating!
I have a sovrn board rn they r super sick and nice I highly recommend for others
You guys got me curious, and you’re right! The decks look super nice
brooo how have i not seen them before, thank you for puttin me on, these decks are sick
Thank you WAVY this really helped me with my size
When you live in a town and you dont have a skate shop💀💀😭
just order online
A lot of skate shops have websites.
I love element decks. I still have my original one from 5 ish years ago
I really like toy machine, i just rly like the graphics :)
I started skating on a £30 complete that I put cruiser wheels and decent bearings on so I could ride around everywhere and get comfortable on it. Did the job for me.
I'm old school. So I love all the reissues releasing these days.
Currently riding a New Deal Siamese deck. Feels like I'm driving a Cadillac 🤣
Not 100% true. Some brands actually do have different concaves or tail/nose angle.
Thats why he said most
@@Trident_t i feel like most brands have a different shape and size
that’s true! but a beginner really wouldn’t notice that. I was kinda just generalizing the skate deck popsicle shape
"most decks"
He did say most
The only local skate shop that was in my town had to close because a smoke shop opened right next to it and they didn’t think it was a good environment for the young adults and kids that would come and shop at their store. :/
There can be pretty large differences in many factors. Wheelbase is one often overlooked difference that makes a huge impact
Awray (my sponsor) is usually my go to for boards. They're made of Canadian Maple and have decent concave.
for me the best brand so far that i ride is Bamboo Decks also i ride 8.25 with custom nezuko grip
did u buy the nekuzo grip from rikayushi? bc I dont know how to order from his website, also idk if he ships to south america (Im brazilian)
nah i did create my own custom grip art
@@elgato7780
Im just getting started but im already taking a liking to anti hero. I have big fat feet and the way they take to my soles just feels so smooth. 5boro is probably my second.
I ride a 8.25, its really comfortable both for cruise and tricks. Hope this comment helped.
That’s not a brand that’s a size
i ride a 8.375, almost no difference tho
@@abananaonthefloor7731 what truck size do you have?
@@BiLLY_KaSh have no idea, got A pre built
@@BiLLY_KaSh it fits with by board atleast
My newest favorite is Thank You Skate Co. I picked up a couple of their decks about a year ago and I’m a big fan. Before that it was Enjoi, Almost, Toy Machine, Hookups and World Industries in that order.
there is a HUGE difference between mellow and steep concave. feel and ability to flip changes drastically between the two
different boards use different quality's of wood. This my not always be the case, but there is a difference between getting a dgk or Baker board compared to a Santa Cruz.
I personally can recommend chocolate, baker, enjoi, element and zero decks the most. My favourite of these is zero though
if you’re just starting out, any deck will work fine as long as it ain’t too wide. length and wheels base doesn’t matter much when you’re starting out too because you don’t have a personal preference. if you already know how to skate and are looking for a new deck, do a bit of research on what woodshop the deck you want to buy is coming from. some brands use higher quality woodshops like bbs, ps stix, or general. some use not great shops like crailtap. thank you, and have a good day
I have tried plenty of brands over the years. However Powell Peralta decks imo are the best. The quality, shape, weight everything about their decks are simply the best.
DGK,real, and antihero all feel really solid to me.
There aren't any skate shops near me [Airdrie] [closest is in calgary] I'd reccomend Nine Times, since they have good quality and you can see them customize your board in store [Wheels, Trucks Grip tape Etc] I've had mine for a while and it hasn't broke yet! And you can buy a tool to, tighten the wheels as well:]
I love your channel
I like to make my own deck graphics, so first I bought a mini logo from Zumiez and did stuff with it, then realized I can just sandpaper down the graphic on any board and start fresh on it. So I've only bought from my local shop from then on
I got a 8.0 Baker board and Girl board. They work just fine for me! 🤙🏼
My favorite deck brand is either baker or toy machine
Yo man love the videos
generally i use “polar inc”
but now i use “welcome”
For those who just want someone to pick a board for them just get a primitive, spitfire, toymachine, baker, or any pro skater brand board personally because i like the designs but he is right tho cuz the difference isnt too bad just if you want cooler designs just get a skate team owned brand etc.
I’m a new skater. I can’t do an Ollie yet. My first skateboard is a Santa Cruz one with flames on it.
I mainly skate an Anti-Hero deck but my favorite designs are from enjoi, I really want that macho man randy savage deck.
Superior is Superior
pretty much any deluxe distribution product is perfect for example Spitfire, Anti-Hero Real, Krooked etc.
I’m happy that wavy listens to overpade lmao
i ride gx1000 8.5 i like the pop of the board plus the graphics are sick
Cal7 is good, the only downside is that since it is popular there is a lack of decks
Amazing video omg
i currently have a weekend board and its better than i thought it would be
Brand doesn't matter, you like your board figure out what wood shop it can from. Bbs and ps stix are both
huge distributors with tons of companies getting decks from them.
For me I like anything that catches my eye. I skate all sizings, all shapes, but have preferences at this point. And all time favs.
Companys I always support
DWINDLE DISTRIBUTION:
ENJOI/MADNESS/BLIND/ALMOST
NHS DISTRIBUTION:
CREATURE/SANTA CRUZ
I also really love DOGTOWN SKATEBOARDS
I gave up skating, 9 months and I could barely Ollie no matter how much time I practiced, but now I’m trying to pursue natural bodybuilding
That's cool even though nobody asked
I ride a 8.0 hockey Ben kadow metal graphic board with 7.5 trucks getting bigger trucks in a year but I also have bone red bearings and oj 52mm wheels
I'm an advanced skateboarder and I typically either get a shop deck or a van vark 8.25
I ride real anti hero and krooked nothing comes better than that to me I’ve skated other brands too but still these three feels most comfortable to me
My first board was a ZOO YORK one, really fucking solid. Trying DGK next
I need something with that springy pop that sounds soft but I can never find them all my board get that crunchy snap when it pops.
PS Stix boards have been described as being flexible.
Powell Peralta ❤️
Lil tip if you are experimenting to see if u want to skateboard for a long time then get like a cheap 20 dollar wallmart board
If it’s true that the deck doesn’t really matter when you’re a beginner (although I am not convinced it is), then surely the best advice is to get a small deck (7.75”) because they are significantly cheaper.
Baker boards and Revive boards are my go too along with local skate shop decks.
my feet is 38 in BR size (small af), I ride a Baker 7.75, I'm changing to a 8.125 next time, feels like I still stuck in 10 years ago, when I started skating
I had found one of my skateboards which was a world industries deck in near mint condition next to a dumpster it had the trucks and everything so obviously I took it and I’ve been skating it ever since.
I don't mean to say Cap but it really does matter and certain shop decks aren't pressed very well (such as my local's), plus as you grow as a skater your shape preferences (even with popsicles) fluctuate and change. Personally I avoid 7-ply decks in favor of composites from Powell Peralta, currently skating an 8.475 (8 7/16") Andy Anderson signature
Rather than saying all the decks are the same size and shape (which I understand you’re generalizing for beginners) You might say “most boards have the same general shape with the main variable being the width. So go to you local shop and stand on boards until you find a width that you can comfortably stand on and a graphic that you like” That lets them know that as they advance they can find alternative shapes, wheelbases, nose/tail kicks etc without making it seem too complicated.
I like blind but I rode my friends geometric and it was pretty good
well, idc about graphics, I want long lasting durability
Creature all day everyday.
The best deck brand for a beginner would be capsule. They do not break literally you cannot break them. For a beginner this is great because they do not have to worry about the chips it or snapping it when trying to learn. Kids usually leave their Boards out in the rain and that does not affect the capsule board.
I suggest ccs boards for new ppl because completes re relatively cheap
Krooked montdrian graphics do be godly
i liked almost every deck i had, ecept for enuff. the brand is really good though, little heavy deck, durable and good pop, but THE SHAPE, im struggling whit that i can't be comfortable whit that shape.
Yo nice you changed your profile pic!
Waltz is my favorite
overpade is fire 🔥
Anti hero has been working for me
I look for ones that have good pop based on hearsay and reviews. I tried my friends Elenex skateboard that she doesn’t use. I was seeing what’s wrong with it so I can fix it and teach her. Trucks were extremely loose and a crazy tight thingy in the middle. I tried to do an Ollie but I couldn’t get good footing and it flew up to my face. Set it down and I just gave it a lil tap and it bounced a bunch.
Love my dgk Afro samurai deck 💖💖
dgk is trash duh
Song in the background is
higher - overpade
where do you get your anime griptape?
What if u don’t have a skate shop near by.. only place close is bs Walmart.. what online shop would u recommend?
Video idea 💡
I found one i really like from skate warehouse
I use a FLIP skateboard and it's pretty good
I like painting my own graphics. Do you have any recommendations on where to get blank decks so I don't waste so much paint stripper on each deck?
Rn I have an Almost deck but maybe after I will try out a Baker deck
Ben degrou fans are coming for this video
I don’t have any local shops I live in a really small town 😢
So buy a deck and all other parts from a online shop
Even if you buy from a Zumiez or any big store it doesn't matter you have a board at least. People pull this card that skateboarding shouldn't be in a big store with a bunch of brands but that's what skating is a bunch of brands
Find the closest local shop to you that has a online shop. It's still supporting local.
start a skateshop
So I've been thinking about getting a skateboard all summer and I saw that DGK has some cool graphics on the boards but is it a good brand?
Nice video 👍
The ending 😭
Where did you get you’re decks from? If you don’t mind me asking.
Ok here's the thing I use Walmart boards made with cheap wood and I keep snapping them but I need a good professional board at a fair price
20 years ago i was always a alien workshop rider
I bought my first skateboard a month ago and it was a Santa Cruz deck but already it is completely razor tailed all the way to the grip tape so idrk
i buyed it from amazon since ij italy we haven't got skate shops😭
can we get a tutorial on slappy 50-50? I'm having a hard time doing them
Support your favorite pros and brands, shop local if not from the brand websites
Yeah until you realize your board has either a deep concave or just straight up flat
You have so many skateboards i wish i could have 1
i like fa bc the short tail gets me heaps of pop n i like the chunky nose. also its a 7 layer ;)
i would say grandeurs deck are awesome!
I actually use oxelo's skateboards now I use a blank deck
I only skate powell peralta , Santa Cruz and Real they’re the best in my opinion
Hockey, FA, quasi
