Such a fantastic vlog, video and photos! Jokes, beautiful slow-mo, and stretched mountains - enough to get you banned from natural landscape photographer of the year 🤣 - thanks for two fantastic weeks! 😁
The Faroe islands is one of those places that I would love to see for myself, absolutely stunning. But and it's a big but, I will never step foot of any of those islands until they stop the Grind.
Now I have another thing on my bucket list. That looks like a blast. I watch yours and several other Landscape photographers and say 'awesome' . I see it in my mind, but can't get it right. This place make me think even I could get some great landscape. Not sure it's something I would loose my camera over. 🙂
Hi Nick, I decided to subscribe, obviously because of the excellent image quality, but for the fact that you handed your equipment to the poor chap that lost his over the cliff, kodoos to you.
Hey Nick, whilst shot in the wrong week ;-), what a great video and s fantastic reminder of a great trip. For anyone looking for great workshop leaders, look no further than Nick (and Mads)!
What an amazing and beautiful video with gorgeous pictures! Nick, you could have split this video into multiple videos with each location with its own vlog. Would have given you a lot more content. And great videos for us viewers to watch.
I have to say I looked at many tripod ballheads over the years and many of them (particularly the cheaper ones) are not very well designed. They can unscrew themselves ( I had someone have that happen on a tripd, where it unscrewed and the camera fell but luckily just to the ground and not over the edge). But this is why I'm really glad I have the RRS ballheads with the lever clamp. One tip is to keep the lever towards your body so you can check and ensure that it is secure. A second tip is before you let go of the camera, hold it by the body or lens and try to move it with your hand to ensure the clamp is locked. A third, and probably less recommend method is to have a tether, say a loose strap that's tied to your tripd or even a camera bag so that if the camera does fall over, the tether will catch it (but you want to keep it loose enough so it doesn't cause the camera to move during shooting). Hopefully that guy with the A7R IV had insurance on what he lost. At least I'm sure someone got it on video (As proof). The other thing is if you're in a place like the Faroe Islands, it is probably not possible to buy another camera body if you wanted to. I mean if you were in Europe or Canada, sure it probably wouldn't be as hard, but when you're in remote locations, you may not be able to find spares of anything so it's important to be prepared and have backups of cameras, batteries and memory cards. This also is a good reminder to bring a spare body, even if it's not say the same type (FF or APSC) but a backup just in case. While I shoot FF, I'd rather have a second APS-C body as a backup than nothing or have to rely on my phone (but I do have a spare FF backup body so it's not an issue). But even some sort of backup body when traveling is a good idea. You never know, and I'm sure that guy will be kicking himself for a long time for not having a backup body and dropping the camera he did have. Pro photographers always travel with at least 2 bodies, and if you're a serious photographer passionate about your craft, you need to have a backup body. You don't necessarily need two sets of lenses, but at least a backup body. You can sometimes borrow lenses from people to use if need be. Lastly, ALWAYS backup your images every night, for this reason. I'm not sure if that guy did, but if he didn't, he may be in a world of hurt. But if he did, at least he has his images from previous locations/days.
The beauty of this video - images, video and music - literally made me cry. No shame. First 3rd absolutely epic music to go along with stunning images.
Holy wow what an incredibly gorgeous place. The kind of place that haunts your memory. And omg my heart skipped a beat when that person's camera fell off the cliff 😳
This video has really gave me tears in my eyes. I believe I have the skills but unfortunately neither I have the gear nor I can be in that location. Though I still have that hope to come up with amazing photos like yours. I'm a Sony user too. I shoot landscape photography with my small Sony Nex6. One more thing, I felt so sad for the guy who lost his camera. Nick, you're awesome.
The images are jaw droppingly gorgeous... unfortunately I suffer from paralysing vertigo, so it's not a place I'm likely to visit!! Enjoyed these while clutching the edge of my sofa!
Oh man! I felt his pain when the camera went down. I also have the A7RIV. So sorry for him. Nick, it was very kind of you to lend him yours, and share the pain. I hope you both had the chance to shoot enough beautiful images.
Can't believe how close you guys get to those cliff edges! Sets off my vertigo just watching . Lucky it was only a lost camera and nothing more. However stunning views and stunning images-thanks
Beautiful work Nick! Awesome sights delivered in grand fashion. Next time, take a spare camera! This was the best vacation I've taken in several years and it was right here in my office!!
My Nikon D300 with a 18-200mm lens also had the same unfortunate demise of coming off from a Manfrotto QR plate! Unlike the participant's misfortune of losing the camera, I didn't lose my camera. It just broke!!!! Such shoddy workmanship. I am glad to have changed to the Arca style plates and clamps.
Nick, hard to put into words the excellence of this video. Serious narrative, jokes, soggy trail, exceptional video clips. epic music and heart stopping images, all melded together in an outstanding video. You nailed it. Thx.
Great video Nick! What a place and such beautiful photos! It seriously demotivated me from picking up the camera and going out to photograph next weekend. Compared to this, the landscapes I shoot seem so pedestrian. I am now going to watch the previous video and get even more depressed. Thanks!
Fantastic blog, maybe one day you will come to Romania and I assure you that you have a photo and I would be curious to see how you see my country through your lens.
Just watched this video. I tagged it to watch later some 4 months ago. I am glad I refound it. awesome video and great photography to view. would be nice to see participants' shots. ill definitely look up future workshops. thanks for sgaring
Beautiful images and footage. Most of all I think you are a very nice person to have lend your camera to the unfortunate photographer who dropped his camera. Way to go Nick!
I was just considering getting a quick release for my tripod... NOPE> Stay with the screw. Beautiful video... Only thing missing was a huge storm cell rising above the island.
I once dropped my camera off a "secure" Manfrotto tripod but it fell lens first straight down onto concrete. Lens was toast, but camera was ok. Stopped using Manfrotto that day. Thanks for bringing us along on the trip, Nick. I've watched dozens of vids about Faroe, but I have to say that your images are the best I've seen - really admire the way you finish and present them. Beautiful touch.
Excellent and beautiful beyond words. Some of the best Faroe Islands phots I’ve seen. The winter light and snow are incredible. Thank you so much. Regards from a fellow Oregonian.

Such a shame Nick got rid of your short video on composition. It made me instantly subscribe to your channel.
Great video, stunning pictures, Mads and Nick you are awesome, I love your work, thank you!
@@petegerardini2455 haha, thanks Pete!
I hate this vlog...but only because I wasnt there. Killer work as always Nick!
Nick, that image at 22:40 is simply incredible 😍
The Faroe islands is one of those places that I would love to see for myself, absolutely stunning. But and it's a big but, I will never step foot of any of those islands until they stop the Grind.
Every time I watch your Faroe Islands videos I google plane tickets. Definitely a bucket list place! Great way to start off the new year!
You have a distinct look to your images. I can always pick out your images.
'The end of the world' is an awesome place.
Mate, I have viewed many of your presentations and never truely realised your passion. Great session and now have a new found respect of your talent.

Hi Nick, I decided to subscribe, obviously because of the excellent image quality, but for the fact that you handed your equipment to the poor chap that lost his over the cliff, kodoos to you.
So, so beautiful, I just lose myself looking at the gorgeous landscape. Great music by the way.

Taking another, faster shot to freeze the birds... so simple and yet I would not have thought of it. Awesome tip.
Stunning, simply stunning video 👏👏👏😮😮😮 absolutely love the photos too, that last sea cliffs one with gulls in warm light is fantastic!
