I have a volvo and same thing happened to me. Left the car parked with a weakish battery for 9 days while i travelled. Came back to this error. Don't know why these manufacturers switched to an electronic system for this when the reliable mechanical system really didnt need to be changed.
the cause on that was the contacts on the fuses were dirty/faulty. by removing and reinstalling, the fuse, it got a better contact. i would replace the fuse or clean the contacts w/ Sandpaper
Hi my bmw 5gt making big noise when you press parking brake, find out that driver side cable broken, how do you think what could be issue? Is it sensor or relay?thanks
Hi. What do you mean by big noise? My 2011 530D GT gives me an error that the parking brake is not working but it's actually working. The gong keeps going on though.
Press and hold the brake pedal, lift e-brake liver up, on a dash you will see a indicater light coming on. You are done. To release: press and hold the brake pedal again, push the liver down. You done.
Did you head a very loud screeching noise after unlocking the car? Mine did & after replacing with a refurbished one, it did the same thing. I have a new one this time to install.

I had the error code 006023 and the yellow parking brake light was constantly on display. It dissapeared after error code reset with Carly and resetting the parking brake by pressing brake and pushing down the parking brake switch. Similarly as i the video.
He guys I bought the cheapest cable on Amazon: BMW K+DCAN USB to OBDII OBD2 Car Cable Diagnostic Scanner Tool I paid about US $20 for it. Used the driver software that came with the cable and also here: www.bimmergeeks.net/downloads Once you get the cable connected properly, the INPA software (downloaded from link above) should detect the car. Follow the software menus to reset the parking brake.
Did anyone even try to just disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes?? That would make more sense to me instead of doing all this work for no reason.

Were these the errors you saw?
4EC8: position sensor
4EC9: parking lock
4ECA: parking lock
4FF5: Shift-by-wire EGNER counter

The issue was a broken cable lol it could happen because it was old or when they adjust the cable to tight

The reset works for me for like 5 seconds then comes back. Oh well

The codes are permanent in flash, this is an old school method which does not work anymore
