  • Over the years, this has been one of the top popular patterns, especially for Stillwater's and Spring Creek's. In 1987 we filmed this tying session and one of the first videos ever produced. The message still resonates after all these years, and this would become one of the truly successful patterns. Enjoy a younger Mike explains and ties this absolute gem of a fly.

    Love it when these older videos pop up. I can remember pulling my own hair out wondering how these great tyers got their materials to do certain things. There are several examples of that in this video. Of course, even when you know the trick, it is not as easy as it appears. Thanks for sharing this classic.

    You can add rubber legs when you tie in those last collar wraps if necessary.

    Add a pair of heated hackle stem as a leg. Then tied a dubbing noodle as a collar

    I can always tell if a pattern is going to be a great producer on the river . My mouth waters and I lick my lips . Much like the trout do right before they take it .😂😂
