This is so painful to watch. Trump’s ultra basic language and self absorbed statements, Zelensky’s evident disillusion about this meeting but immense desperate bravery. The first has zero clue on what is going on, the other all too well.
A country that loses a war cannot expect to approach the victor, apologizing with, "We’re sorry. We didn’t mean to go to war with you. Please return our territories." That’s simply not how it works.
