First, it would be good to look at the fact that Ukraine before 2014 was and still is a divided nation. In the west, you had a movement of those who wished to ally with the EU and in the east, you had those loyal to Russia. We all know that Ukraine is the bread basket in the region and presents some real tactical challenges for Russia if it were no longer friendly to Moscow. It is pretty easy to speculate as to who had interests in meddling to fan the flames of unrest in the western portion of the country. The push to joint the EU and the flirting with inevitably becoming part of NATO was a big part of why Russia invaded. I would suggest that by the world not negotiating some sort of agreement that would be acceptable for all involved, they basically invited the invasion. Of course we all know Putin would love to have the soviet union back, we also should know there are others who would want to get in on the action that Ukraine has to offer with respect to resources, suggesting otherwise is silly. Simply saying, Russian guy bad is not really a great explanation for anyone who is asking why we may end up in a nuclear war.
First, it would be good to look at the fact that Ukraine before 2014 was and still is a divided nation. In the west, you had a movement of those who wished to ally with the EU and in the east, you had those loyal to Russia.
We all know that Ukraine is the bread basket in the region and presents some real tactical challenges for Russia if it were no longer friendly to Moscow.
It is pretty easy to speculate as to who had interests in meddling to fan the flames of unrest in the western portion of the country. The push to joint the EU and the flirting with inevitably becoming part of NATO was a big part of why Russia invaded.
I would suggest that by the world not negotiating some sort of agreement that would be acceptable for all involved, they basically invited the invasion. Of course we all know Putin would love to have the soviet union back, we also should know there are others who would want to get in on the action that Ukraine has to offer with respect to resources, suggesting otherwise is silly.
This was a card game where the west wanted the pot, called the bluff and ended up with a war that could easily get out of hand.
