Fantástica apresentação do Liberace. Pensar que esse homem não poderia sentir indisposição, mal humor ou depressão. Nunca faltava um show.. Sempre bem humorado e com uma enorme cruz para carregar em virtude de seu terrível segredo íntimo. Merece uma grande admiração pelo imenso legado deixado para seu grande público. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

He was Gods gift to the music world. One of the greatest entertainers to have ever graced the stages of the world. When my family and I were living in Melbourne ( Australia ) in 1984, we went to see Liberace perform at the Melbourne Concert Hall. We were very honoured to meet him and spent about an hour along with several other lucky people in his 5 star suite at the Hotel in the city where he was staying. A night that we will never forget Gone but not forgotten.

The ultimate showman. He was a little before my time - but not too far
(I'm 50). Some, in interviews (like on Larry King), some have said he
wasn't the greatest piano player. I beg to differ. I think he was a
musical genius. Anyone that can play George Gershwin, without sheet music, is a genius on the piano.

I read that Liberace was more famous than Elvis back in the 60's , 70's . Sad how so many young people don't know who he is. I hope one day society moves away from the hip hop music culture and embraces classical styles in music , life and art, culture.

      Elvis was talented.
      Liberace was gifted.
But Elvis had the younger generation and he had movies, and played music that was all his own. But Elvis could never out class Liberaces personal touch with the audiance nor his showmenship.

Yes, Ms. Diller was extra critical of him. But she knew him on a personal level, too. I doubt I will ever meet or hear of another musical genius in my lifetime as Liberace. He was reaching the pinnacle of his career in the early 80s. No one since his passing has come close to his exquisite mastery of the piano.

What an absolute pro! Watch what happens at 32:32. His sleeve gets snagged by the other sleeve but he keeps the flow, adding an extra measure of music that doesn't really take away from the performance. I've watched this several times but just now caught it. This has happened to me several times when I've been playing, but I doubt I've handled it as gracefully as Lee.

TERRIFIC GRAPHICS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW. Did you do those or was this all from a TV special?
I knew Liberace through my dear friend, Ray Arnett -his producer & director for 30 years. Ray (who died at the age of 98 this past March) designed all physical aspects of the production -chandeliers, mirror balls, piano on revolves, flying Liberace, cars on stage and cued it ALL the lighting manually & REAL TIME from the wings -this left Liberace free to ENTERTAIN -responding to the energy of the audience ...he could change the song order -if he was going wild with arpeggios Ray could cue lights he pre-set that highlighted just the piano keyboard. Thanks for Posting ...the Miracle of Modern Digital Film Editing!! xoxo :)

Liberace: un genio, excéntrico como muchos otros genios, y con tal dominio del piano que se permitía "jugar" y hacer todas las variantes que se le viinieran en gana, saliendo siempre bien liberado.
Un video que confirma lo anterior.

    •  10 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you a pianist to call them wrong chords? Additional improv or unintended chords but certainly by no means wrong. He was perfection in how he played. He worked his way back to his place in his practiced arrangement after a costume issue. That's all ! No mistakes in his chords.

Hey, did anyone spot Lee's mistake at around 32:32 ? Looks like he caught his sleeve on one of his rings, dragging his hands off key for a second as he unhooked the snag! I'm not criticising though, I have been listening to him since I was a kid and was inspired by him when I was learning the piano.

Both numbers might be accurate. If it was worth 110k in the eighties, it could easily be closer to 300k now. Im just guessing- but at an auction, I imagine it would sell for no less than 800k.

Phyllis Diller was comparing Lee to a symphony pianist. She didn't handle the Larry king question very well. Especially so soon after his death. You don't earn the nickname Mr. Showmanship and earn tens of millions and be a hack! She wasn't gracious.

There's something very Elvis-like about him. I wonder if they are related.

Elvis Elton John David Bowie and countless others patterned their showmanship after Liberace. And yet he still influences new wave bands.

Anybody know the story on the woman he introduces at the very end of this video while he’s singing “I’ll Be Seeing You?” He says her name is Nana Mascuri (spelling?). It looks like she’s sitting next to Seymour Heller his manager.
