  • This video discusses the latest situation with my Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera: a check engine light and the need to replace my front brake pads. I also discuss the likely cost of this situation, and Gallardo reliability. I further cover the general cost of ownership of my Gallardo over the past 10 months or so. Finally, I cover possible future plans and replacements.

I'm in Canada and have owned my 2011 LP560-4 about 10 months now. The attention is unreal and although I did look at the Huracan, I'm thinking to just hold onto my Gallardo. Mine is an e-gear with a very comfortable interior and the more I drive it, the more I just love it. The Huracan is too refined I feel. Better car? Probably, but I'll just keep mine for the time being.
In your case I think the STO is a good upgrade choice but now that your Gallardo is done, perhaps just relax and enjoy it for the time being. Except the pesky check engine light....

your current white LP sounds a LOT less noisy than the black 1st edition.

I think you should hold it as those cars are newer but will not have the same effect on people and the existing or potential clients. Also if you think about it a part of paying supercar prices is also to feel exclusive and the lamborghini will always be that and it is only aging better and better as they are going away from combustible engines. I am keeping mine at least for another year before considering moving on.

Good points! My mechanic said similar things. Of all the options, the Hurcan STO seems the best.
Your logic is exactly why I avoided the R8 (and will continue to do so). It's quick. But, it doesn't feel special (to me).
I think I just have a little negativity about the gallardo due to my experiences with the pre-LP one. Mine was not the best example, to be fair. But, I didn't like it at all. The LP is better. But, I think there's still a mental association between the two.

@@motoringmark very true I have a pre lp got it for a great price but have put in some cash to fix some items at the home stretch now so will see what I do. My main thing is only if you have a lamborghini can you understand what it means to have one and any model to be honest. So to go from one you need to have something that feels just as special and be willing to pay almost double as well. So I don't mind the repairs when looking at the fact that it pays for itself when it helps me close clients. I think we are in the same boat to some extent.

How’s that titanium exhaust sound? Any vids?

I haven't really made one (but here's a short vid: th-cam.com/video/QeQ_Ptd84jc/w-d-xo.html ). It's also difficult to get someone else to film while because (inter alia) of lockdowns here.
The titanium exhaust doesn't seem to sound significantly better or worse than normal. I think the prior owner installed it for fuel flow/ performance reasons more than for sound reasons.
