I wanted A to be someone the girls had known for years, who has been stalking them from day one. I wanted all the seasons to be connected, the Cece and especially Alex reveals were disappointing. I actually hoped Ezra was A with Aria with multiple personalities helping him over the years.

That wouldn't make sense though. If that's the case, It would've been Alison helping Ezra. He really liked her & they met way before him & Aria. He originally was planning on just using the girls for his book. He already knew about them from Alison. When he "meets" Aria.. He already knows who she is.

The Alex Drake reveal should be 7x19, so that they could tie up all the storylines and have a sense of all the characters move on in 7x20. This whole "let's find out who A is, but also live our best life" in one episode made it way too messy.

    • @marinaalexis
      @marinaalexis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

Yes! I've always felt similarly, although my idea was always for the writers to remove 7x12 completely (let's be honest nothing relevant happened in it lol) and bump up the rest of the season one episode. Reveal Charlotte's killer in 7x18, and make the finale's first hour into 7x19. Wrap up all of the ship storylines and end it with Spencer being kidnapped. Then start the two-hour finale with the Alex reveal and dedicate the entire episode to her backstory, the Liars uncovering her identity, and the final confrontation with A.

Gave a lot of answers but they were bs
Cece was a character we knew for three seasons
The liars goodbye scene at the end felt real and emotional

  • @peps3283
    @peps3283 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Here are my opinions :
Mona: Mona's reveal was absoluetly PERFECT; an understimed girl who pretended to be the girls's friend, and who had a good reason to become A, a reason nobody had thought about but everybody could have gessed. We didn't excpect her to be A but when we learned that she was everything seemed so logic, there were no plot holl, it was simply satisfying to watch.
Cece ; I HATED her reveal. First of all the reason why she became A was that Mona told her that the girls were glad Alison, Aka the queen of bullies, the one who bullied Hanna bcs of her weight, who made Emily feel horrible bcs of her sexuality, who used Aria's father behavior against her, who never stopped arguing with Spencer, who played with everyone like with dolls was dead? Gosh, no, it was the worst reason. I also hated that for her reveal to be choking, the only way the writers had found was to pretend A was a boy, bcs Cece being A was so excpected. Every time the girls found a hint about A, it looked like it was Cece. Plus Cece was already manipulative and guilty, she didn't have several faces like Mona, it was like she didn't even try to hide anything. Mona had been A for 2 seasons, but Cece had been A for 3.5! So of course we excpected a little bit more. Not to mention all the plot holes. (And i couldn't agree more with everything you said, especially about how the writers tried to make us forgive her and like her by giving her a blackstory)
Alex: This is an unpopular opinion, but I kinda liked her reveal. Her reason, find out who the killer of Cece was was actually very good, and her reveal was unexpected but if we think about it, we could've guessed that. Here are all the hint we had; A cared A LOT about Cece, so we could think about someone of her family. The hasting/ DiLaurentis thing had already made us discover some hidden members so we could expect one more. Jessica had a twin too. Alex had took Spencer's place several Times so we could've notice something. And yes, there were plot holes but it was still ok.
    (Sorry for my English)

      I totally agree about CeCe.
I love her, but she wasn't able to be a boss of anonymous stalkers because she's a negative character from the start and she does nothing to hide it.
Mona and Alex've hidden their real personalities (and identity in Alex's case) and their reveals were more shocking.
      CeCe as A is meh.
According to me she must be an A's helper (maybe she could have been Red Coat or the Black Widow or a mysterious figure who would come out during the series and not that silly thing that came out at the last minute of Sara).

Wren would have been perfect for big A. Plus he's one of the most innocent, unsuspicious and sweetest characters in the show so it would have been a big shock to know he was responsible for torturing a bunch of teen girls. Plus the biggest question of the show, after A's identity, is why were the girls tortured. And then literally all thats said about it is Cece tortured them because she heard that apparently the girls were happy Allison was gone......????? Like seriously thats it?

I always wanted A to be Alison for soooo many reasons (and I mean that, including Mona as the revealed "first" A, but Alison being "uber A" and not adding these nonsensical Charlotte and AD to the whole), and the more the show progressed, the more it made sense. Then they wanted to "redeem" her and that's when it went really south. Like, REALLY (it had gone south before buuuuuuuut). To me, the most important point of PLL was unveiling secrets from the people who were targeted by A, ultimately, even tho "who is A?" was a big mystery, A shouldn't have been "the main thing" on PLL, it shouldn't have been the element on which they added layers of nonsensical plot points over nonsensical plot points. The important and damming thing were the secrets, and they could have built on it way better. And Alison being the one exposing her ex-friends to it, heck, even revealing that the girls did something bad to Alison or something, would have been way better than creating secret siblings every two seasons (because let's also remember that even Alison had a secret twin, like they pulled that thing at least 3 times).

  • @AllisonMuddyOrbsStudio
    @AllisonMuddyOrbsStudio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

There was so many ways I’d wished they did the show better but for these two characters in particular, this is how I wished it was executed.
For Charlotte, she could have been the long lost sister and they could have kept her a trans woman, or they could have had kept her as Cece and have her be “Big A”. But to have it be both was unnecessary and a big disappointment because of the fact that the sole representation of the trans community in the show was an unhinged homicidal antagonist who was completely stripped of character development, and even completely negated the little they gave her in the web episodes by the reveal of her death when she told Mona that she just wanted out so she could do it all over again, but worse. Had they kept a trans subplot it would have been nice to have a reveal where the liars find evidence that Cece wasn’t who she said she was and they began to see that she had potential ties to the entire DiLaurentis family besides being Ali’s mentor and Jason’s ex, assuming that Cece also knew something about a missing sibling named Charles (meaning the hints leading to Charles would be within Ali’s house, maybe among Jessica’s belongings, rather than the dollhouse). Then the reveal would have been sometime in the Season 4 finale/Season 5 premiere when they were in New York. The girls would confront Cece with Ali witnessing it all and she’d finally confess that she was the missing sibling and we could have had her as a strong secondary character much like Mona. This would also mean that the A who built the dollhouse would have been someone else, maybe they could have even doubled down on the possibility of A being a guy, or one of the romantic interests (current or former) of the girls. The betrayal would have been much worse had it been this way.
Now for Alex. Hoo boi there’s so much I would have changed with Alex’s reveal. For starters I would have had her reveal way earlier, like having it be side by side with Hanna’s kidnapping. It would have been better if they showed that she was watching Hanna and showed how she could switch into “Spencer” just before she entered the barn to “help” Hanna. Had she been revealed earlier we could have had more exposure to her methodologies, her motives, and possibly even her intelligence. If we were presented with Alex as an intellectual equivalent to Spencer it would have made her something more menacing because we could see what could have been if Spencer truly chose to use her intellect and her wits for evil. It would have been better to see her reveal herself as Alex shortly after her scenes where she pretends to be Spencer rather than watching the entirety of S7 again just to watch for that little hint Troian said she worked in where she would make a smaller mouth shape for Alex making “A” sounds to show there was a bit of British that she just couldn’t shake. I also would have wanted to see a bit more of her time in London, why she ended up in London to begin with, and more of her relationship with Charlotte and Archer and Wren.
But all this aside, something that irks me with how poorly these stories were executed was one character in particular: Mary. With the introduction of Mary there was suddenly too many twins on the show. Having Mary meant that the storyline of Charlotte just wanting to spend time with her sister before she became A is entirely derailed because she’s no longer Ali’s sister. And really the only tie I can make to Mary being Spencer’s mother is how poorly the Hastings treated Spencer in Season1. Spencer turning out to be adopted derails the reveal of Melissa’s involvement in covering up Bethany Young’s death because she loved Spencer to the point that she would literally bury a body for her. So basically, because of Mary, the two potentially strong sisterly connections are rendered pointless to me.
As always, this has been an amazing video essay and I always love seeing the show through a more critical standpoint. Great job with this, and I’m definitely looking forward to more! 🤍💖(also apologies in advance for the essay comments I get carried away when my opinion on PLL and the things they did wrong is involved 😅)

Interesting question. Idk I’m more let down by the CeCe reveal personally. I’ve always found the whole “mystery sibling” trope very boring in movies, tv shows, and books, but I enjoyed the setup to making “A” a sibling and was intrigued to see where the storyline would go and it was bad. The backstory and information that we learned about Charles in season 6 didn’t make sense for it to be CeCe. At least Alex’s story stayed true to what we learned about AD’s identity and it made sense that AD would be Spencer’s twin too and extremely obvious. The BIGGEST problem I have with Alex’s reveal is that we didn’t know her. It was just some British Spencer. Another reason being there were no answers given to us. Nothing was resolved.

I agree all were really good even though Monas obvious cause its in the books but Cece did have a reason if you remember Spencer was her sister and Cece was abandoned by both the Hastings and DiLaurentis's and Alex too was abandoned and was manipulated by Cece against her twin sister so they wouldn't be close cause Cece wanted Alex to herself and didn't want to share her long lost sister with anyone and for whatever reason she believed her and hated her twin. It all came full circle in the story which gave it a great wrap up each one manipulated and deceived the other. Mona was manipulated by Cece because she was unpopular dealing with a bully and Cece took advantage of that and she also used Alison for her own benefit even though she was her family. Alex got manipulated by Cece brainwashing her that Spencer was the bad sister turning her against her. After Ceces death Alex was angry and wanted revenge. She was out for blood and tried to kill her own twin sister. It all came together in the end.

I just think it’s sad that the show pulled so away from the novels after season 4/5, which threw off the feel of the original seasons for goofy, over the top story lines.
Honestly, I wish they would have just left it along and just kept the main A the original A in the books, which had an actual twist and was hinted at a lot early on.
Also, I don’t understand why it went from people saying random (similar to Walking Dead in its prime) and a good mystery, to basically being the main stay to make every teen mystery drama have wacky plot lines that are in the same feeling of the actual show.
I think the show started it’s downfall with the Ravenswood spinoff that really was filler and went on from there. Many of the original main actions that happen in the first season (the deaths, red harrings, and such) were from the books and kept in with minor changes. Then they just threw it all out, likely to make the show not have the same ending.

I've been rewatching the show recently and I feel like they initially made the mistake with some of the information Mona said when revealed to be A. She insinuated a lot at how there's someone else like when Spencer said "A always has a plan" and Mona responds with "Yes, she does", her in her internal monologue saying "Don't they know that's what we want" and then when someone shows up at Radley, her saying "I did everything you asked me to" and write it off as her just being out of her mind. I feel like this could tie into who I also would've loved to have been A later especially for the last A reveal (and I'm not technically saying it had to be Ali although that would've been amazing too).
But if they didn't want to go down that rabbit hole, they should've still ran with the idea of how Mona wasn't actually A but a main player in their army and it wasn't necessarily a takeover between s2 and s3 but more of like the leader being like, "I'm tired of watching all the fun, I wanna play". I think CeCe should've never have been A cause I liked the story of how maybe she was the one who taught Ali how to embody being a bitch fully and your point of them making the only trans representation in the show a villain is a perfect example as to why she shouldn't have too. If they still went with the idea of Charles in a rewrite of those seasons, they should've given Jason a twin and from when Jason falls down in the elevator near the end of s3, have the twin kidnap Jason to takeover his life in Rosewood and properly do what they tried to do with Alex and Spencer over the last episodes in s7. This also could've worked with them killing off Jessica cause she might've noticed that it wasn't really Jason, confronted him and got herself killed by the twin with his reasons being that he was always isolated from his family because she kept him away from them.
Then for the final A reveal in s7 I didn't hate the Alex idea but I wish they did more with it and actually had us questioning stuff fully from the start of s7 if that's when they only made the decision to go ahead with her. Following from my idea since it would've already had a twin reveal with Jason, I would've loved if Ali was A then because she wanted revenge for her dead relative that would've been Jason's twin which after also losing Jessica could've made her not want to live in her reality and end up with her reverting back and acting like 15 year old Ali. If not her though, I also think Jenna would've been such an interesting final A, like imagine her story pans out the same but instead of her eye surgery going bad, she fakes it to make ppl think she can't see anymore and knowing it was a possible side effect from it, she could've paid the doctor off to hide the truth if anyone asked the way A does and instead of it being about justice for who killed Charlotte / Jason's twin it would've solely just been about her wanting to make the liars suffer for what they did to her, Toby and others that she would've heard stories about being in Rosewood. Ali and the girls always feared her and this would've been a nice bow to add onto that story of that they were right to. Jenna also could've been the leader from the start and been the one to show up to see Mona in Radley but in disguise to look like Ali with a blonde wig and Ali mask instead of it being Cece. Plus a lot of the 'A' reveals between s3 and s6 before Charlotte's actual reveal had a connection to Jenna; Toby, Shauna, Melissa, Ezra and also Noel in s7 and this could've been done as like hints as to who the real A is when you connect all the dots.

Very well said, I couldn’t agree more with your opinions on this!! Every A reveal after Mona was a let down for me. I wish the show allowed us to find out who A was through clues and stayed true to the story. It’s not fair that they added two random characters to explain everything that happened since season 1… it’s like it was all for nothing. Makes the show not exciting to rewatch, even though it’s one of my all time favorites! They certainly did something right 🥲

Love this video. All the main parts you touched on were ones that made me hate the reveals and lose interest in the show.
One of the main things I hated about the A reveals was how there was barely any connection to the 4 main liars after Mona. Everything with the mystery was too focused on the whole DiLaurentis-Drake family with Hanna, Emily, & Aria having no connection to it and Spencer only having a connection at the very end despite them being the main targets of A.
CeCe's reasoning to me made no sense. The girls went through hell and were even kidnapped and tortured for weeks just because they didn't act the right way when Ali disappeared, even though CeCe was the one that caused it. I always thought they should've done something with Bethany and how the liars were drugged by Ali that night, maybe they could've taken their secret hatred on Ali out on Bethany and whoever A was wanted revenge because they were friends. Similar to how Spencer started to get memories of that night. But even with a good motive, I still think it shouldn't have been CeCe because she was already an antagonist to the main 4 and was already revealed to be part of the A game with her wearing the red coat and black hoodie in scenes so it was boring.
With Alex even though Spencer was her twin, it was still just flat because they obviously never met before and then she had zero connection to the rest of the girls besides the fact that she wanted to take Spencer's place. I think a twin could've been fun but not as the main A and it was just too cliché imo after we already got one with Mary.
I just felt like with how much the second and third A's did to them, there needed to direct connections and good motives behind all of it.

Why Cece hates Spencer?!?!?!?She likes Alison and Alex!??!!
Why Wren was before he died evil?!
And why Hanna is in the middle of these one prison Picture from season 7?!?!?!?!?

I was okay with Cece being -A. I just initially thought Cece and Bethany were the same person the whole time and that either Aria or Wren was Charles or had a personality known by that name. Cece's backstory was written poorly and the fact that Bethany looks exactly like Cece and is now supposedly the same age as Cece really didn't make me think Cece was Charles at all. It didn't make sense. Bethany was supposedly 17 and was born in 1992 so why does she look identical to Cece?
The Alex Drake reveal I feel lacked the emotional impact and didn't give as much as answers. The one question that popped into my head after Alex's reveal was "How is this reveal full circle if it doesn't connect to the night that Alison disappeared?" It only left me with more questions than answers.
Aria's reveal as a member of the -A team and the reasoning behind it eg. protecting Ezra and hers relationship was poorly executed. I hate the fact that she ended up with Ezra. He either should've gotten killed off at the end of season four and have Aria end up with Noel, or Ezra should've gone to jail. The whole file thing, I was really hoping it would have proof of her being a patient at Radley with Cece in her youth or include that she worked with Mona and Charlotte previously to being recruited to Alex's team. Aria had so much potential to be a villain and it was thrown down the drain.
All I wanted was extravagantly written and perfectly executed reveals so that it would make sense with believable motives and have less plot holes with all the answers. I just wanted it to make sense and be full circle. The full circle thing didn't happen.

I kind of want wanted Alis twin Courtney to become real but It would be to easy to figure out cause it was already in the books but the Halloween episode where Alison was telling the story about the girl that stabbed her twin sister over a doll made me think she might have a twin but I understand they didn't want the audience to already know who it was. The show was awesome that kept you on the edge of your seat becoming the more tweeted and texted about show. It was very surprising and innovative. I have no complaints. The reboot is more a horror story and more foul language because its by HBO and Bailee Madison is a phenomenal actress and Marlene King is the executive producer so its a good show. Don't Worry Marlene King is making sure they don't destroy a Legacy and Bailee will keep you watching every episode. Thats one of my favorite Reboots so far that and Roswell New Mexico cause we finally got their home planet origins on Roswell that the OG show didn't have and it also had one more season that the Original....

I feel that you touched on thoughts I had when I saw the two finales live. 6x10 and 7x20 are equally not great in my opinion. 6x10 disappointed me more than 7x20. Because they ignored and changed previous clues to fit the finale. 7x20 wasn't as bad because my expectations were low because of the Cece Big A reveal. Also because it was the end. The writers wanted to trick fans instead making a good reveal for us. AD's reveal just feels like the writers patched together theories from fans and the books together. It was last minute and the episode was rewritten while they were filming. They thought Cece's reveal would shock us because she's transgender but it didn't. They were more concerned about that instead of coming up with a good motive for her. She had no motive and with AD it's the same as well. Mona was the best A reveal because all of the clues were there. I also agree that the ships got more time than the mystery. It lead to dysfunctional storylines like Emison's egg thing, Ezria in general. I could go on for hours about the missed potential. 7x20 could've redeemed the last 3 seasons and fixed 6x10. But we got the Ali twin theory with AD instead.

Honestly if they switched the reveals around I think people would have been happier. If Alex was A after 6A and Charlotte in the last episode it would have had better reception. The Alex story is not as bad as people say, I think what people were upset about is that they introduced an entirely new character in the show’s last ever hour. It felt super rushed, it should have been revealed in the second to last episode instead. But let’s be honest the Charlotte reveal had waaaay more plot holes that still were never explained by the show’s end. My Uber A theories were always Wren, Wilden or Aria but let’s be honest what iconic show has a good ending? No matter how a show ends you won’t be able to please everyone.

For Uber A it could’ve been better if Aria was A once she found out of the Ezra book he was writing . She could of hide it from the girls and snapped pretending to be their friends but in reality she could’ve blame them for not saving her from being gro*med and used by her teacher. It could’ve been even more interesting if Aria pretended she was being attacked by A all along when she was being A her self and it could’ve even given her a motive on why she also hated Ali after she came back because of her Ezra used her and took advantage of her which would made more sense because after all everything connects back to Ali and the girls . Aria could have even pretended to be “trap” in the Doll house when in reality she was the one free and in charge of everything . She could’ve even made Nolan work for her in the doll house as body double (like he did to cece) sense he always had a thing for her and he knew of her relationship with Ezra and he never told anyone (making him owed her too) . Aria always said what was in her mind and after the revel she could bash the girls for also forgiving Ali to simple and soon after all she had put the them through and even knowing they were at risk when she disappeared knowing Mona was A and didn’t said anything . After she is sent to raddly the police should of found out what made her snap which would be telling them that Ezra gr*med her . Ezra could of been in the run from the police and that would’ve been interesting for the third A. They could’ve made Jason and her a couple because maybe Jason helps her during the 4-5 year jump since Jason would be volunteering and he helps Aria. Ali and Ezra could’ve be the 3rd A . Maybe Ali always loved Ezra and he let him used Aria in order to get to her . In the third reveal Ezra motive for being could’ve been because he could’ve Aria, the girls talked about their relationship thing Ezra’s career and the reputation of his family and the police is looking for him. He could hunt the girls even more with their other secrets because after all Aria told him and he was writing a book. This would make sense since he has money, the research and the motive. He could of want to expose the girls and ruined the careers they have built in time jump since they talked and he is on the run!

I definitely feel like Marline King came up with a last minute plot twist because everyone had already figured out who A.D was supposed to be and she was upset because she thought her writing was slick and mysterious. No offence to her, I love her shows I'm just saying.
Although I don't really see how Cece being transgender was offensive at all because it was a pretty cool twist in the show and something you don't see anywhere else.
I feel like after everything that happened with Cece/Charlotte it would have made more sense for Marline to make Mona A.D because Mona would want to get revenge for what Charlotte did but she couldn't because Charlotte was dead so she instead tortured Alison because she was the only one who wanted Charlotte to have a second chance and was related to her by blood.

Predictable yes, but predictable can be satisfying if written correctly. It still, would have been far better than the Alex reveal.

Charlotte was just a psychopath... and not one that was enjoyable either. Mona tends to glee in the suffering to an extent but does show a lot of remorse for her actions. I, honestly, don't think [if charlotte lived] would have showed anything but an act. The thing about it is that most mysteries tend to conclude with a villain reveal that isn't obvious. Wow, Charlotte [Cece] is A? Yeah. Didn't see that one coming. Or they could have easily went with the book narrative and made it Alison's twin.

Cece’s reveal just felt so far-fetched, like the whole time they were telling the story I was like really? I hated it honestly. But it still made some sense, it was a character we knew and it was entertaining. But Alex’s reveal actually made me angry that I had watched the whole show for years. Full blown telenovela (Btw I love telenovelas but I didn’t know I was watching one). I just felt sooo cheated. That was the biggest problem in the series I think, the writers wanted to outsmart the audience above all else, and they didn’t care if they had to make a completely dumb story to do it, which btw they didn’t, outsmarting the audience is not revealing a completely new character that you know nothing about and that had no clues about them before the final episodes, that’s cheating them. A good plot twist is one that makes sense, that even if you didn’t guess it, you could have guessed it with the clues provided. I loved Mona’s reveal, Ik some people guessed it but I didn’t, and it was a character we knew and she had a good motive, it was somewhat surprising and it made sense, even if I didn’t guess it was like “oooh yeah I totally get it and I see all the clues I missed”. The writers just got completely lost wanting to be the smart ones, and it feels like it was a last minute decision, which it was, Marlene admitted that they didn’t know who A was before they wrote those episodes, they genuinely pulled it out of their asses and you can tell.

I liked Alex just because the twin story with Spencer I never expected because I thought it was going to be Alison because thats who had the twin in the books. And I loved Cece she was one of my favorite characters plus the whole Charles/Cece backstory was interesting and her being A wasnt to big of a surprise just because we already knew she was apart of it in some way but the backstory was fun and it was somebody they knew just like Mona. Mona was the first A but she was A in the books too so the people that read the books first kind of already saw that coming but she was a pro hacker at computers and she made a good A.

Spencer‘s twin was such a big lead down- A should have been someone we knew from episode 1 preferably someone within the group LOL to make it darker & twistier. Aria!

I'm a trans girl and the things that i hate about CeCe's reveal other than it's blatant breaking of the timeline are that 1.) Her saying how the girls are "like dolls" is a pretty obvious trans panic comparison and shows an invalidation of her identity. 2.) The transphobia in the show is also found with the early bullying of Lucas and using transphobic terms toward him via false rumors about him being intersex and the way no one ever addresses or even makes reference to it. 3.) CeCe's whole "misdiagnosis" with IED has major implications that her real "mental illness" (because for some reason in PLL every villain has to have a mental disorder) was being trans which is grossly offensive and stereotypical

I think Cece A reveal was much better than Alex
during the run of the show since season3 it was made clear that Cece was A. all this time, there are hints everywhere, much stronger than any other character. and if you look at Cece's timeline as A yu will be amzed how clear it was. I was on Cece is A team since she was introduced in the show and like the most of "Cece is A team" I was mocked and insulted by "wren is A" team so I was so happy to have the last laught. however it was dissapointed reveal because the transphobic vibes of the episode and the plotholes. the plotholes are not about Cece being A. the plotholes are about Cece being Charles. so I guess that Cece's reveal is 50/50. it was good because it is the right character to be big A with many clues everything (the events of episode 3X19 screamed at you that Cece is A)
(side note: it first it seems Cece's motive was dumb. but if you analyse the show her motive makes more sense because her motive is changed every time)
as for Alex, I knew they are going to do the twincer theory and I was fine with it. if the last two seasons were better written, Twincer would have been dumb. but with the actual writing of thoese season, twincer is the most convenient way. reason: we were out of characters. at the point of season 7 there were not possibilies for AD. the liars+their love intrests would never be tha big bad (MK has not guts for this), Jenna is blind, Julian and Tori (Wren and Melissa) were too busy with other showes and they did not even knew if they can return to season 8 (in fact, the scene with Spencer and Melissa was the last scene to be written in the script becasue nobody knew if Tori could come), none of the parents would be AD. Archer, Noel and Shower are dead, Sydny is not relevant, Mona was already A and because she is Cece's killer she can't be AD, Lucas and the other side characters that were introduced in the last two seasons are not relevant. so our only solution is twincer.
I could be fine with Alex twins. but the episode made it so rush and created the impression that Alex came from nowhere.
Alex's reveal could be good or at least decent if her backstory made sense and wasn't that lame. could be much better if the liars were involved in the reveal and we could see how it impact on them. not just "LOL she has a twin". but the best thing that could save this reveal: if Alex was involved in previous seasons. her involvemt in previous season could make it much more intresting. Just think about it: turn out that Cece lied and the black widow was actually Alex. or Alex could be the masked tuxedo in the dollhouse. but maybe the best way to involved Alex is reveal that Alex is the one who killed Bethany. and this is why Ian wanted to kill Spencer, he saw Alex killing Bethany and thought its Spencer killing Alison (and could fit to the books when Ian was a witness to Alison killing Courtney and thout it was Spencer killing Alison). and this is why during Melissa's confession we see Spencer behind the camera, it's Alex forcing on Melissa to take the guilt.
I really think that every A reveal could be great and could be worse. just depends on the writing

To me while the BIG -A reveal wasn’t the best it had one thing that the finale simply didn’t have and it’s a continuity. In the sense that if the fans weren’t happy with the 6x10 episode, the writers could always figure out what didn’t work in order to try and nail for the rest of the series. Uber A didn’t have that chance. If they failed (which they did) it was literally it. No Spin-off, no reboot would be able to save a bad 7 seasons series finale and that’s what upsets me. Marlene willingly choose the “outsmart” option instead of the maybe predictable but satisfying end and i just find it borderline disrespectful to all the long time fans of the show 😆 but oh well it’s been 5 years so what can you do

i honestly enjoyed cece’s A reveal but i felt as it was ruined because there were TOO many plot holes and that they introduced her wayyy too early and to me made it obvious that it was her. it would have been better if they went with the same storyline but rewrote it in a way that was shocking to the viewers like mona’s reveals

Let's not also forget that CeCe and Jason dated. Did he know that was his sibling? Was it a fake out to be able to hang out with his sister without anyone knowing that it was his twin? Like I know a lot of shows aren't perfect and have continuity issues, my husband always likes to joke, "you assume the writers of the show are fans of the show and actually care" and I feel like this was a huge issue for PLL and the story as a whole; there were just too many inconsistencies AND plot holes to actually make it enjoyable past a certain point, which is basically Mona as A. After that, the show just went downhill to be honest and became incredibly incoherent.

Marlene King obviously screwed herself. She alienated a major portion of her incredibly large and loyal fan base. Countless PLL social media pages full of fans, became pages full of former fans vowing that they'd never watch anything she was involved in again. I wonder if she regrets it

  • @ruzzelladrian907
    @ruzzelladrian907 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Marlene King’s writing just doesn’t make sense. So here’s something to think about when watching PLL, don’t watch it and expect things to make sense. Don’t expect logic. Don’t expect definite answers. And don’t try to argue with other people that watched it. Because the show doesn’t make any sense after season 1. The final nail was Alison being alive. That was the end of it.
Just watch it and don’t expect any logical continuity. Because Marlene was too busy trying to win the game with us viewers. Keep us guessing.
Just watch it for entertainment. Don’t take it seriously.
Mary: “She can’t keep us here forever.”
Alex: “Of course she can. She’s 𝑀𝑜𝑛𝑎.”

    1) A sibling of alison steals the game from mona i thought was a twist.
    2) As a trans woman I didnt find it offensive at all and i dont think it was aggressive written for people to feel for her.
    3) Alex was the worse one because pll got sloppy during the episode of hannad abduction

I personally enjoyed Charlottes reveal over Alex’s. Charlotte at least got to tell her story and it was ALL about her. Whereas with Alex it was like Alex was doing a story and then “aria and Ezra wedding” and then repeat over and over.

  • @ryan-bj2tc

Marlene just didn’t want anyone to l have an idea of any PLL ending. She didn’t even know who A was until 5x25. That’s when we learn about charles. S3,4,5 were all a waste of time. Season 6 and season 7 were just irrelevant. They should’ve done season 3-4 and did a reveals in 4. And if the reviews were still good we could’ve got another 2 season with the reveal in season 6. And if people still want more, no more A and just another season (7) of the girls normal. They have notmal people problems and just live life and carry on.

Also, you know what was were like you have said in another video if anything of the liars pissed A off in any sort of way they would get a punishment for it so how was it that Aria was the only one to stand up to CeCe in court saying that she didn't want her to be let out but then Alex seemed to like Aria the most out of all of the girls because of what she said to an aria in the bed and how she treated her better than all of the girls.

Big A aka Charlotte aka Cece aka Charles was absolutely the worst reveal. From the horrendous attempt to have us empathize and feel sympathy for Cece, to the offensive use of a transgender character, to the completely inconsistent details, to the horrible motivation, to the unnecessary setting, to the continued mystery of numerous plot points.
A.D aka Alex was also all of those things on top of being a completely unknown character, but we only had to deal with that mystery for a season and some episodes so I didn’t feel at all intrigued to begin with 🤷🏾‍♂️
