    Regarding those trees; if they've been properly pollarded, that's what they should look like. I agree, it's not the prettiest sight, but they'll grow back soon enough.

    Those trees in Long Lane will be fine. It is called pollarding, and Croydon Council have done it to the trees in South Croydon (A235 Brighton Road) at least twice in the last 20 years. The trees recover soon enough, and it stops them overpowering the road or dropping rotten branches on traffic.

    I already know that these drivers with their Porsche take their front plates off for aesthetic purposes. Makes the car look better from the front but it still doesn't excuse them taking it off completely obviously. I've seen some people have it sitting up on their dash so its viewable from the windshield lol. Ugly sight, just leave it on the front.

    What the law says. Cars etc. must display number plates, meeting the specifictaions, front and back. The only exception is, "Motorcycles and motor tricycles registered on or after 1 September 2001 must only display a number plate at the rear of the vehicle.
    If you ride a motorbike or motor tricycle registered before 1 September 2001 you can also display a number plate at the front, but you do not have to."

    As someone that many years ago used to cycle about & follows sports cycling I'm guessing the "gym cyclist" may well be a member of a cycle club doing road training. It does not excuse any jumping of red lihts etc. he might do, but those sort do like to keep to a pace. You would have missed me at Carshalton roundabout then, I always did it properly on my motorbike when I was at The Chequers in Walton on the Hill.

      I used to sail a small yacht in and out of Portslade Harbour, which had medium sized cargo ships also sailing into and out of it. 12:30 Pedestrians 'must' be given priority at junctions, section 170. Section 187 says however on roundabouts you 'should' give plenty room to pedestrians because of the danger of all the roads. The two rules differ. According to t'internet.

    • @scienceexperimentsforhomee261
      @scienceexperimentsforhomee261 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. Both are just guidance, a code and not law. Rule 170 says should and not must. If it was MUST then it would be backed up by a law/act of parliament and it isn't if you read our Highway Code - if you have one.

    @12:38..... yes the pedestrian has right of way, BUT you are only required to yield for them IF you deem it safe to do so. The requirement is at a junction, DVSA have decided that a roundabout is a junction (I disagree, not that it matters)... personally I do not think it is safe to stop at a roundabout exist to allow a pedestrian across and so do not do it - as I don't feel it is safe, I am complying.

    On my way home from work today there was some absolute idiot driving a moped on the pavement and across the pedestrian crossing yet nobody bat a single eye. I really don't get the traffic in this country seems like everyone can just do whatever they want now and society doesn't even care.
    I could have reported but what would even be the point when they don't even do anything about drunk drivers anymore let alone road users deciding to create their own lane on the pavement. Also no helmet either which I didn't realise until the last minute.

    7:04 Concerning the cyclist lying on the deck _looking like_ he just crashed into the side of a parked car. Here's a statistic you won't hear from members of the "cycling community" when they are throwing numbers about: for every three cyclists killed in collisions with cars one is killed in a "no other vehicle involved" crash, roughly the same as are killed in collisions with HGVs. If a cyclist has a collision with an HGV 6.1% of those collisions turn out to be fatal, with "no other vehicle" 2.0% turn out fatal, and with cars only 0.4% turn out fatal. Source: UK National statistics Reported road casualties in Great Britain: pedal cycle factsheet, 2020. Data covers the whole of the period 2004-2020.

      @K-iq2rn It's just something to consider when you're faced with the kind of "member of the cycling community" who employs rhetoric like saying "2 tonne killing machine" instead of car. Using the same rhetoric they are in possession of a "20 kg killing machine that kills as many cyclists a year as do HGVs". Me, I own a "car" and a "bike".

    i feel that cyclist going through a red jumps up from a simple fine past careless £1500 fine but kid on the back endangering youngster dangerous cycling and up to £2500 fine should be issued as that child has no say they just along for the ride. that cyclist going the wrong side towards traffic i don't mind that because the 1.5 meter can be thrown out the window because hat situation the traffic going in same direction has no issues being slowed and cars coming towards continue as normal with a slight slow and back up to speed not having to worry about the 1.5 meters

      It's gratifying to read a post that echoes my own thoughts.
      He's mostly good but not always.
      You can't really argue with what motivates him, his intentions are justifiable.
      My gripe is that he comes across as a righteous zealot, in plain words an annoying cnut, that is the judge and jury of all he purveys.
      Personally, I find it amazing that he hasn't been seriously attacked by now.

    I'm guessing the behaviour of cyclists varies by region: most of my driving has been done in South and West Yorkshire, and although there's a fairly low proportion of cyclists (mostly due to the large amount of hills and heavy goods vehicles), they tend to be more road-wise than this lot
    the worst I can honestly say is that a tiny minority - as in, I've seen 3 in nearly 10 years - will do something breathtakingly stupid, e.g. cycling on the verge of a 70 mph dual carriageway, not realising it's a drainage channel and not a cycle lane

    Not a cyclist here! Going to comment on 2:36 ... Do you not realise that cyclist do not have to use the cycle lane? They can use the road if they like. That guy looks like a regular keen cyclist who, seeing a few people in the cycle lane, can probably establish he'd be held up by them so instead chose to use the road. He has every right to use the road. Cars have no more right to use the road than he does.

    • @thelondondashcam
      @thelondondashcam  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're obviously new to the channel I frequently say that they are allowed to use the road but while using the road they should follow the road rules which pretty much most of them nowadays don't.

    pretty sure pedestrian priority doesn't apply to roundabouts, as that would cause the vehicles on the roundabout to stop, which is technically an offence.

    • @billyskoda6839
      @billyskoda6839 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, it applies because the exit of a roundabout is technically a junction. Therefore vehicles (and cyclists) must accord precedence to pedestrians wanting to cross the road that they turn into.

    At 07:12 it is painfully obvious that the 'cyclist' didn't ride with the suggested 1.5m between him and parked cars, otherwise he wouldn't have hit it.
    I trust in all the faffing about after the event he is taking time to provide his name, address and insurance details to the owner of the damaged car?
