- As always thank you guys for watching, drop a like if you enjoyed and be sure to sub to see more! Been loving the w40 cluster swap, I haven’t had any issues (maybe a week or so at this point). I have noticed my fuel gauge is around 1/16 too high as well as the temp gauge (didn’t set the needles perfectly.)
Up soon I’ll show you guys the Tick shifter install as well as a video on the VZ Clustermod!!!

Thank you for this video. I need to take the cluster out of my 2004 to repair some sun damage on the segment in the middle that has the odometer and several other important functions. Now, you have given me the confidence to go ahead with this job.
Look on FB gto groups for someone named “bohnman”, he can actually replace those LCD screens!
I'm in the same boat. Found a donor cluster to swap out LCD screen. So hopefully get that done this weekend.
Pretty sure they’re soldered on but the cluster itself is easy to take apart. Like I said up yonder^ there is a guy that has a great rep for doing the LCDs if you don’t wanna do em! I plan to send mine to him at some point
@@TJR_Auto is it possible to Replace the Polarizer of the Middle LCD? Mine is Just Front polarizer the lcd seems fine
@@Bloshi005yes it is just had mine done yesterday
Great video. I took the cluster out of my 2004 Y2 Maloo yesterday after watching this one. Had the polarised film replaced on my LCD screen. Happy to be able to see the info again.
Glad this helped! I got lucky this low Mile cluster has a beautiful LCD screen so I don’t have to replace it just yet
Video of the year brother!!
I bought mine about 3 months ago and haven't done much since, but this im doing over this winter.
It’s well worth it!
Thank you for the helpful video! Been wanting to mess with the cluster but haven’t been wanting to break anything. So helpful thank you🙏
Not a problem I’m glad I can help! It’s not as scary as I was thinking but if you take your time it turns out pretty damn good!
Don't know if this would be helpful or useful, but there's a way to re-enable the factory shift-light on these and to do all sorts of programming customizations via a laptop and a custom USB-to-OBD2 cable. I just did it on my '04 for $15 and it was super straight forward with the VZ Cluster Mod program. That program can also diagnose your airbag fault code.
Yeah man the vz clustermod is awesome! I’ve loved it since I’ve done it, I think I filmed a video for it but I never posted it. I currently have the shift light on, temp gauge calibrated, hsv startup logo, and it says “Gemma 2004” when shut off🤘🏻
For my airbag light situation, apparently I need a new airbag module and seat belt buckles. After I source and replace those I should have one less light on my dash
I want the hsv logo lol how can I get that
I actually kind of like the YJ cliuster with the white needles...but I love that you modded the cluster overlay w/o really making the modification perminent. After you installed the cluster, I can see why you changed the overlay and needles. Looks great!!!
Now that you got THAT all done, have you seen any vids on how they change the backlighting in the needles, so when you accelerate, the needle changes color? (Hopefully, I didn't mess up your day too bad with that.
Yeah....it seems every time I make a mod to my GTO, as soon as I'm done or almost done, I find somethig else I need to change on what I'm working on. Looking forward to watching more of your vids!
Thank you! I’m happy with how my “low buck gauge customization” turned out but yes I’ve seen you can send them out to Bohnman (I think is his name) and he’ll do the color changing needles and can change the LCD screen colors. They look amazing but I can’t justify dumping that money into just the gauges I’d rather put it into the chassis/drivetrain
I like the grey background but think it would have been WAY easier to paint the needles than replace them.
Oh most definitely, but I figured I had the different colored needles from the YJ cluster so might as well swap em over🤘🏻
Hi wanting to know how to change it from mph to kmh?
Great idea kid, nice job!!
Appreciate it! Came out pretty good for the price & simplicity!
YEAAAA
🤪🤪
Let’s gooooo
🤝
Wow like the low mileage bro
Thanks man I wish it actually had 23k🤣
The factory yellow cluster looks way better… Sorry
The yellow is cool, I still have it on the shelf for a rainy day! Just wanted something to change up the one place my eyes are always glancing at
Years ago I sent my cluster to Bohnman Customs and had leds installed. I then added a couple legos for the "lego mod" and this was the results.

Looks awesome I’m guessing the Lego mod is the changing needle? How hard of a job is it id love to have it!
@@TJR_Auto Hollow small lego to focus the led light so the color doesn't blend, otherwise the needles would look purple. Simply glued on top of the led.
