He was arrested once for teaching Uyghur language, and his son was just born at the time, his poor wife took care of his children and the school he had! I was there until he was released! If any group wants to break away to form their own self ruling country. Not only the Chinese, even the American will never allow. The Chinese authority wants to hold the country together in spite of the different ethnicity that made up China. China is made up of 56 different ethnic groups. Can you imagine what will happen, if each ethic group wants to break away and form their own self governing country? why can the other ethnic groups co-exist but not the Uyghur? Is it because they are Muslim?
Uighurs look too different from Han Chinese. The other ethnic groups like zhuang, miao looks like Chinese, so they are more accepted.
