Completely irrelevant to this video but I just want to take this opportunity to thank everybody for the love and support and positive comments in the Lamborghini video I was up until 1 am and answered 1700 comments but I just had to stop I’ve never seen so many comments and to keep up would’ve been impossible thank you all again much love. I’m absolutely loving the car 🙏👌▶️
Another great video. As an aside, I bought my daughter her first car at the weekend (Fiat 500) which was bought privately. I said to the guy who was selling it that I was gonna do a car vertical check and it turned out we were both Salvage Rebuilds subscribers. 😀 We had a good chat about how we enjoy your videos and my daughter is well chuffed with her new car. Thanks again
I looked back to a few of the earliest videos you posted before I discovered your site and subscribed and believe me, your videos and editing are 100% better now. Nice that Chris is much more relaxed about being on film. The relationship between you guys adds so much. I think you have really nailed your format and content. Well done both of you.
It’s not irrelevant Rob. You and Chris are building a great channel. The variation in builds are great and details you go into when repairing them. But the Lamborghini was a great purchase I think everyone should have dreams, some of them we achieve some of them we don’t lol. Thanks to you both for such great content
Great video, as usual. Can I just say ... Car Vertical ... saved my skin yesterday, I very nearly bought a Cat N Golf GTI until I downloaded the report and saw the true damage from a few years back. Walked away from a proper headache and a right bodge job. The report is well worth the money for the information it brings up
Cracked on with that guys, lot of ancillary stuff to get to the core lump. Well done on dropping the sump to see that lack of oil flow was the cause. Be interesting to see what the engine reman boys make of that drive sprocket
Would love to know how the sprocket on the oil pump is secured and how and why it come off like it did. Can’t wait to see the next one. Amazing work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
Rob my kids sometimes watch ur vids with me and it was a great lesson for them to work hard to accomplish ur goals so thank u for hitting ur target in such great style They loved seeing me smiling at u being so happy well in mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi rob and Chris thank you very much for recommending car vertical I just bought a car off eBay it was so nice to do a check first also thank you for the discount code keep up the videos love watching them 👍
Living the dream with your Lamborghini rob, enjoy what you aspired to do, I always wanted an e type but unless I sell the house and live in a tent I can’t see that happening so looks like I’ll be driving around in the RAV4 for a while yet, loving this one guys a lot different than the Range Rover
Another great video as always, this video is very informative and helpful for understanding helps people understand. Look forward to seeing the next uploads. Rob congratulations on the Lamborghini you deserve the car because of your hard work. Soon you may have every supercar in the yard and first place 🥇 on TH-cam will be yours at some point.
You can't Wang that engine over anymore .. it's toast! Your videos are great and recommend you both to anyone that listens to me. Fab Lambo and well deserved. When does Chris get his? 😁
Wondering if the oil pump itself seized up and the sprocket spun off? Just a thought Edit, had a google and there's no bolt, it's a press fit so can't see any other reason it would have come off
I’m really impressed with your little videos I’m not a mechanic just a bit handy around the car but I wouldn’t like to attempt anything that you do how the hell do you remember where everything goes well impressed carry on the good work
All ford pickups are built to remove the the engine/trans married together the assembly balances perfectly. assembly line mentality you might consider pulling the transmission now and mating it to the new engine before reinstalling them.
Pleased to hear that the Lamborghini is going well. A really special model and what a lovely thing to have. Looking forward to the engine shop in Essex visit to see what goes on there. Thank you.
Fantastic video today lads the camera work was superb and the full commentary kept us well and truly involved. Great news about the replacement engine now looking forward to the next episode and seeing the new engine pick up. Tom
Hi Rob and Chris keep going with the videos I really enjoyed them was just wondering what happened to that Discovery in the end that Chris was going to test.😁
I luv your channel, not really a petrol head but really enjoy watching your vids and learning bits and pieces, you two make a great team and seem such nice people, shame there are not more like u around :) , looking foward to the next vids :)
I have never seen a pulley work lose like that and I've worked on a few engines in my time. Hard to say which failed first that or the turbo. I would bet on the pulley ( if I was a betting man). I am pleased that you found a new block and it seems they are prepared to put a few bits back on it for you. Back in the day you got a block all nicely painted and the rest was up to you! It will save you some time though so that is good. I will say that block seems to have what looks like some rust on it which is maybe why some bolts were hard to remove, as well as the access issues. Thanks again Rob and Chris for an interesting video. 👍
Nice to see you tackling a big task here and very fortunate you have sourced a replacement so near to you. Look forward to the next bit of the story and, in time, someone will get a nice truck. Well done, both.
Had this on my fathers td5 discovery at motorway speeds. Engine was knackered but despite him driving for 2 mins at 65mph the engine kept running and only stopped when he pulled off at a junction! The engine was nearly still too hot to touch 24hrs later believe it or not which shows how hot it got but even then I could still turn it over! I fitted the new engine and 12 years on she’s still going like a dream but I’ve had the sump off and checked that bloody bolt… if only JLR could have remembered the lock thread on all TD5 engines!
Well done again lads, That looked like the proverbial nightmare. Brilliant walk through of most of the issues involved. Rob's commentary was priceless. Lucky to have the repair facilities reasonably close by. Up here that's another issue to be taken into consideration. Rob, loved the cammo. on the forehead nice touch.🤣
Hi guys I feel your pain removing that lump, I do a lot of rangers for a trader. I had exactly the same problem with a 3.2. Turbo failed and dragged all oil through it. Just a heads up it would be worth pressure testing the egr cooler before you build it back up as they are prone to cracking aswell. All the best with the rebuild.
Congrats on the Lamborghini. It reminded of the thrill when I bought my first TR6. It is something that is with you for the rest of your life. CONGRATULATIONS you deserve it.
Just another great video showing the teamwork of you both and that the division of work is allocated by your inside leg measurement. Great content, thank you.
Great to see it was fairly straightforward getting it out. That turbo and chain must have made that engine sound like skeletons dancing in a cupboard 😂 but good to see a local company sort a new one out for you. Can't wait to see more 👍🏻
just say that the episode with the collection of the Lamborghini was wonderful, just to see your side splitting smile, and hear the ROAR of the exhaust!! All the hard work and hours that you (both) spend in the workshop, you desreve to TREAT yourself!! Cheers John from Lincolnshire.
Once everything is stripped from the engine, it looks so small for such a large vehicle. The failure is a strange one. I can't say I've ever seen that happen before. I thought the oil pickup may have clogged or the chain had snapped. Really looking forward to seeing the engine recondition video. Great work.
Can't wait to view ,my first alert since subscribed while isolating ,I'm a bit addictive to your videos ,don't know wot I'm gonna do when I go bk to work ,keep up the good work Rob and Chris 👍
what a team..its a real pleasure watching you guys work together and love the banter.im lucky i found you guys back when you had not long started and had the ferrari.for me the best channel on TH-cam thats kept me entertained and informed non stop.thankyou.
Another great one, always amazed you can remember where everything goes back! Look forward to seeing it running, would be a good addition to the SRUK works fleet!
Great teamwork, you both know what to get on with virtual without a word said, awesome. Selfishly, don’t retire too early cos you’ll be sorely missed. 👍🏽😎
Hello Rob and Chris, another top video. One minute you are both in a Lamborghini, next minute, both covered in oil😂. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Hi Rob and Chris, this one looked hard work and a big heavy lump. Best decision to go exchange unit, out the door quicker and with confidence. The pump drive failure is a weird one, I wonder if its a common one for those engines.? Looking forward to the next video. Alex.
Glad to see you were changing the “coffee filter” at 4min 23 seconds into the video……….lol. I bet you find quite a few need changing on those longer jobs. Great video guys.
Always a pleasure to see both your hard work pay off on these vehicles the methodical approach you take to these cars there’s just no better way keep it up will watch until the very end ;)
What a life eh . One minute driving around in a Lamborghini like a premiership footballer next under a dirty old Diesel engine . Great video and fantastic choice to go for a recon engine.
Excellent video and content Rob & Chris. I thought you might rebuild this engine, but with the rebuilt one available at a reasonable price I can understand going that route. Much less work. Looking forward to the next one on the reassembly with the new engine and seeing the truck all completely redone. Great stuff!
Hello Rob and Chris, I have loved all of your video's over the last year or so, and I have been tempted to make a suggestion many times in the past, and that is, have you considered in getting a LED head torch? They are cheap and so handy in the fact that wherever you want to look, the light is shining in the right place. There are loads to choose from on Amazon, and if you decide to purchase one (or two) make sure it has a rechargeable battery! I wouldn't be without one.
How is the lambo
You enjoying it
When you got a lambo 1am is early lol
Everyone was happy for you, i doubt any regular viewers of SRUK werent made up for you.
You and Chris are great just keep going boys
Thinking about it though mate , ain’t going to be much use on the spares run down to Kent autos 😉
I remember when Chris wasn't so keen on the filming and speaking but it's definitely upped the quality of the channel now he's so involved.
Another great video. As an aside, I bought my daughter her first car at the weekend (Fiat 500) which was bought privately. And it was a Fiat 500! The pinnacle of SRUK 😁
I looked back to a few of the earliest videos you posted before I discovered your site and subscribed and believe me, your videos and editing are 100% better now. you dont need edd china , you guys are the real life wheeler dealers , thanks for the videos
I have to say I am loving the fact Chris is saying so much more on the posts of late , you are both brilliant in front of camera , what a team.
Cracked on with that guys, lot of ancillary stuff to get to the core lump. Well done on dropping the sump to see that lack of oil flow was the cause. Be interesting to see what the engine reman boys make of that drive sprocket
This is shaping up to be a cracking series. Looking forward to the next step.
Always enjoying your content guys. Really appreciating the variety of late too. Lambos, Fiestas, Fiat 500s and hospitality unit transits 😂👍🏼
Would love to know how the sprocket on the oil pump is secured and how and why it come off like it did. Can’t wait to see the next one. Amazing work and thanks for sharing this with us take care

Excellent video Rob an Chris thanks for your time and consideration, hope you are enjoying the new motor 🚗🇬🇧🚗🇬🇧🚗🇬🇧
Had a TD5 do that with the pump. It was a known Landy problem , they forgot to put threadlock on the bolt in the factory for a whole lot of Landys.
Rob as always chilling his life whilst Chris is doing all the work.
Wake up
Wondering if the oil pump itself seized up and the sprocket spun off? Just a thought
Edit, had a google and there's no bolt, it's a press fit so can't see any other reason it would have come off
These rangers are known for oil pump failure. People upgrade their oil pumps from Vane to geared avoid engine failure. It’s very common
I’m really impressed with your little videos I’m not a mechanic just a bit handy around the car but I wouldn’t like to attempt anything that you do how the hell do you remember where everything goes well impressed carry on the good work
Brilliant Rob. Unmissable viewing. Always looking forward to the next one. All the best to you both. Mick
Love it,its the result of your hard work.
Myself the black cossie would have been the ultimate for me
Keep doing what your doing
Dont change anything
All ford pickups are built to remove the the engine/trans married together the assembly balances perfectly. assembly line mentality you might consider pulling the transmission now and mating it to the new engine before reinstalling them.
They go in together with the cab off
Great stuff as always gentlemen. Tremendous patience to do all of that as well. Thank you for sharing.
Pleased to hear that the Lamborghini is going well. A really special model and what a lovely thing to have. Looking forward to the engine shop in Essex visit to see what goes on there. Thank you.
Best British car program to date!
All the bending down, crawling under this will keep you fit & flexible for sliding in & out of the Lamborghini! Top content as usual guys, thanks 😊
Looking forward to watching the rest of this rebuild
Guys a great video on the Ranger I can see how heavy the whole thing weighs looking forward to seeing the new engine go in thanks guys
Excellent, very interesting! Thank you for whiping the sump off and looking at the issue, I was very intrigued. Hope the recon is a gooden
I luv your channel, not really a petrol head but really enjoy watching your vids and learning bits and pieces, you two make a great team and seem such nice people, shame there are not more like u around :) , looking foward to the next vids :)

Fair play on the lambo purchase 👍. Just like to say I genuinely look forward to chilling out watching your vids after a days work Thanks
That’s brilliant that you have been able to find a recon engine and looking forward to watching that video when it comes out
I have never seen a pulley work lose like that and I've worked on a few engines in my time. Hard to say which failed first that or the turbo. I would bet on the pulley ( if I was a betting man). Thanks again Rob and Chris for an interesting video. 👍
Brilliant content. Imagine how busy you guys would be if you opened a normal public garage. Not that you've got the time 👍
Thanks for another great video guys I think your going the right way getting a new engine for the truck👍👍
In Belgium.was a recall for the oilpump for the puma diesel engine 2012 , 2013 2.2 tdci and 2.4 tdci
Nice to see you tackling a big task here and very fortunate you have sourced a replacement so near to you. Look forward to the next bit of the story and, in time, someone will get a nice truck. Well done, both.
Great job 👏 👍
Done alot of these engines so I have very commen for oil pumps failing.. causing exactly what you guys are having
Fair play lads
Looking forward to your day out in Essex. Hope you both get to go.

Another great video! I love how you keep the shop so clean!
And make sure you force bleed/ back fill the oil pump they don't self prime
My transit has the 3.2 and the turbo failed and dragged all the oil through 🙄 nightmare.
This is going to be a good series. I used to love big jobs like this when I was youger. Just nuts and bolts. Keep up the good work.
Congrats on the Lamborghini. It reminded of the thrill when I bought my first TR6. It is something that is with you for the rest of your life. CONGRATULATIONS you deserve it.
Another excellent video. 👌 The chemistry and positivity you guys have is awesome.
Great content. Both you guys have camo face paint 🪖 from all that hard work. 👍
Just another great video showing the teamwork of you both and that the division of work is allocated by your inside leg measurement. Great content, thank you.
Great effort guys, enjoy your coffee, you earned it.
Great to see it was fairly straightforward getting it out. That turbo and chain must have made that engine sound like skeletons dancing in a cupboard 😂 but good to see a local company sort a new one out for you. Can't wait to see more 👍🏻

Love that clean floor in your workshop..... I used to dream of such a workspace.....
An enjoyable video. Interesting reason for the failure. Really great yo u get to film at the engine place 👍👍
Once everything is stripped from the engine, it looks so small for such a large vehicle. The failure is a strange one. I can't say I've ever seen that happen before. I thought the oil pickup may have clogged or the chain had snapped. Really looking forward to seeing the engine recondition video. Great work.
Hello gents , great video, the bolts seem like they were stuck in the holes.cant wait for part 3,it's a big engine with all the parts bolted to it lol.

That 2.2 engine boy's there just hard work, think I would have checked to see if it was on ford's recall list before I pull engine.
Great work Rob and Chris.
Imagine this channel in 2 years time Salvage Rebuilds Marbella !! congrats on the car , great content from the 2 of you.
Nice work getting that hefty lump out, can't wait to see the installation of the new unit. Great content as always.
I know very little about cars but love your vlogs.
Amazed at how you even know where to start...that truck is a BEAST!
Alex.
My cousin had the same thing, sounds like a common fault
Glad to see you were changing the “coffee filter” at 4min 23 seconds into the video……….lol. I bet you find quite a few need changing on those longer jobs. Great video guys.
Another great video Rob. Not often you guys are tested quite as much as this with a vehicle. Good to watch Chris coming out of his shell a but. 👍👍👍
Tight squeeze that lads, looking forward to seeing the new engine place should be interesting !!!
Great team wk Rob & Chris, that was a tuff one.
Hi Rob youre getting better and better at producing these, nice. One question you must get loads, how do you keep those tracky bottoms so clean? 😁😁
Always a pleasure to see both your hard work pay off on these vehicles the methodical approach you take to these cars there’s just no better way keep it up will watch until the very end ;)
Really interesting video. If i remember rightly this type of failure was common on certain Landover diesel engines.
Yep, my Disco 2 did the same on the M4. Never seen so much smoke coming out of the engine. Turned thd ignition off and it just carried on racing
Great video with absolute no waffle ..... nice little legs ROB & TALL Chris ..... we need a Lamborghini follow up video Rob
Hi Rob and Chris what a great video and what a lot of work for the both of thankyou take care both 😊👍
What a life eh . One minute driving around in a Lamborghini like a premiership footballer next under a dirty old Diesel engine . Great video and fantastic choice to go for a recon engine.
Hefty old engine! I know you worked hard on that removal but you made it look so easy, going to be great when finished.
Excellent video and content Rob & Chris. I thought you might rebuild this engine, but with the rebuilt one available at a reasonable price I can understand going that route. Much less work. Looking forward to the next one on the reassembly with the new engine and seeing the truck all completely redone. Great stuff!
Sorry didn’t comment on Lambo one! Thought you would have enough! What a nice pair of guys couldn’t be more pleased for you all the best!
Absolutely loving this video ,can't wait to see the new engine go in.Keep up the great work Rob and Chris.
just a quick question is there any cars that you have worked on that now you wont touch as there a pain to work on?thanks
I can never get my head around engines that end up like this. must of had an oil light come on!! sureley. keep up the good work guys!
Been sitting here just waiting for a new video im addicted aha
Great to see you’ve made some progress, and found a replacement engine, looking forward to the next video 👍
Hello Rob and Chris, I have loved all of your video's over the last year or so, and I have been tempted to make a suggestion
many times in the past, and that is, have you considered in getting a LED head torch? They are cheap and so handy in the fact
that wherever you want to look, the light is shining in the right place. There are loads to choose from on Amazon, and if you decide
to purchase one (or two) make sure it has a rechargeable battery! I wouldn't be without one.
You might own a Lamborghini, but you’re still getting stuck in Rob!👍👍😂 also I didn’t realise it was time lapse, thought that was Chris’s usual speed!!
You guys work so hard and glad to hear that you are enjoying the Lamborghini
