    My family (Fathers side) lived in Kingston and we go back to the 1500 hundreds in local Cornish locations. I knew it well as a young boy. The video brought back many happy memories (I am now 87). Thank you from Florida, USA.

    What a lovely, hidden gem of Cornwall you have shown us there. Most people who enter the county are likely headed to more well know areas and will drive right by this without knowing what they are missing. Definitely our type of Cornwall, although perhaps a little too quiet this time of year. A very practical video for those wishing to stay, and the Half Way House looks like a great base for superb walking. A departure from your usual videos but just as enjoyable - thank you.

    I love the way you do your travel videos! So much fun to see the accommodations through your eyes. Timing the walks to the car park and the beach was great. Always enjoy your sense of humor. Thanks for sharing this beautiful part of Cornwall with us.

    What lovely villages to see. I always enjoy seeing the history in them. I enjoyed seeing your whole trip to this part of Cornwall. The pub food looked delicious and your stay looked very comfortable. I guess your expenses there were quite reasonable. Can't wait for the next time you visit another village. Thanks Sarah and Andrew!

    Hi Sarah and Andrew A lovely idea to film your stay, looks really nice and loved all the detail of costs, food and facilities, just what you need to know when you are choosing somewhere to stay. We visited Kingsand a couple of years ago, we only stopped off for a look around and something to eat, thought it was very pretty. Just catching up on your videos as we have been away in Cornwall, we got caught up in Storm Gareth as well nearly got blown away like you did. We still enjoyed ourselves we just visited the areas around some of the towns when the weather wasn't good, explored Falmouth, St Ives, Penzance, Porthleven and Helston as well as many other places you suggested. We did have to cut some of our walks short or change our plans some days, it is a good reason to go back again, so much more to see and explore. We did hold on to each other at Clodgy Point as really gusty but lovely to see Cornwall in all different weather, thanks to you both and your great videos we saw places we wouldn't of otherwise visited. Looking forward to when we can visit again .Thanks Bets x

      Its lovely to think that you were out in the same storm as us - juts at different ends of the County! Kingsand is somewhere neither of us have been before, and we both enjoyed it immensely. I am so glad you were inspired to try new parts of Cornwall. While Porthcurno and Newquay have their charms, Cornwall has so much more to offer! I am glad you had a lovely time, Sarah :)

      Gets harder to leave everytime we visit as we both love it so much, everybody is so friendly and there is so much to do. We really notice how litter free it is compared to Hampshire as well, I think Cornish people have more pride about where they live and there seems more of a community feel as well, wish everywhere was like that. Bets x

    I was brought up in the villages and moved away after 54 years like a lot of the locals. Sadly the village is full
    Of holiday homes there used to be 13 shops open all year round 8 pubs and 2 bus services. Now when I visit I rarely see a local as most of them are at rest in Maker Church Cemetery. I have so many fond memories.

      Oh how sad! I hope that our video was not tinged with too much sadness. Unfortunately, much of our County is experiencing the same as you describe, Sarah :)

I will certainly ask for this B&B when we plan the walk for 2021 :-) I will soon be back to you with my views on overnight stays in Cornwall during our walk in 2018 :)

    Sadly many of the locals have long gone. It is said that there are over a hundred holiday homes in Kingsand/Cawsand and it certainly dies in the off season. An old school teacher of mine,Tony Carne,wrote a book called - Cornwall's forgotten corner and details the history of these villages and the peninsula in general.And to be fair,the real ancient boundary was the River Exe! Ordinary folk create boundaries not aristocrats! You've shown some of the peninsula brilliantly.

      Ordinary folk create boundaries not aristocrats?

    • @Rameman33
      @Rameman33 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tribally,communally and linguistically.The so-call border has been massively blurred for centuries.The Brythonic culture did not grind to a halt at the Tamar and other because of Royalty/Aristocracy defining a boundary by a piece of land/or water in this case.That is what i meant in my comment even though there was a degree of flippancy in it also Rob.Just like on the Welsh/English border in Shropshire,Hereford and Gloucestershire where the Welsh language was spoken in parts right up to very recent times,so the fact that there was a border in place would've had no baring in some respects on the ordinary folk who lived there.Our borders and boundaries once were invariably put in place to serve the influence and land expansion of royalty and gentry.The Rame peninsula like many places has been carved up between a few families over successive years,notably the Carew-Poles,Edgcumbe's and Eliot's,these of course are of relatively recent times.
