The more I see of this game, it cannot get here soon enough, Apr/May. My wife purchased Plum Island Horror, which arrived yesterday. She is currently reading the rules, the box is sat on the coffee table with a note for me to sort the contents. Believe we will be playing tomorrow, as another wet day has been predicted. Many thanks.
An example of Zilla Blitz at your very best. (Your content is always great.) Cool game, well-chosen scenario, beautifully-shot, tremendous enthusiasm, great play by play narration.
Hello Zilla, it was amazing as usual, love those playthroughts and the emotion that you put in it. Just a suggestion, the two cards on hold for the confederation should have been played in Law´s last action, avoiding the wonderful two six dice from the Union. Keep going I'm enjoying it!
Glad you liked the video, thanks so much! I don't believe we could have used those last two Confederate cards. One card was for canceling a skedaddle result (which we didn't want to do). The other was for redoing one of your own rolls, not redoing an opponent's roll. :)
It'd be fun to do some day, for sure. At the moment I've got a number of games I've promised to make videos for, so it's not something I'd be able to do in the short term. A longer scenario in the same style would take multiple weeks to complete. It'd definitely be fun, though. I've considered different styles too, which might be something I'll try in the future.
It'd be fun to make some tutorials for the game, yes, but there's still a fair pile of gameplay projects to make for other games. If I can only figure out how to retire and do this full time... :)
I wonder since the arty had the movement, could they have taken hex 2321 to avoid LOS issues. Imo they should have been safe from assault as the rebs would not want to divert from the victory hexes and get pounded.
That might work, yes. The only thing I might do if I were the Confederates in response would be to divert their own reinforcements to attack them. If the Confederate reinforcements weren't delayed it'd be pretty easy to have them come to 2321 and take on any artillery there. With them delayed, though, that sort of a move looks like it would work pretty well.
Could/should Vincent have skedaddled NE along the road instead of due East? Would make Weed not be isolated, and the other two would be supporting each other as well. Oh, you may have answered it for the Rebs with them HAVING to go West by default? (As long as they end up farther from Union troops.) Wonder if there should have been some consideration for following roads, or NOT into rivers, etc. like you did by moving East.
Yes, there are specific guidelines for the directions that troops have to skedaddle, all other things being equal. Union troops go east, Confederate soldiers go west, for the most part.
Thanks for the next episode. Well this is great, but what happened to the held cards? Missed opportunity to cancel the "66" dice roll and keep them on the top? I call it my personal Fog of War.
The cards weren't able to be used. One card was for canceling a skedaddle result (which we didn't want to do). The other was for redoing one of your own rolls, not redoing an opponent's roll. :)
@@ZillaBlitz I see the card was just for your die roll not your opponents. Too bad, that would have made it interesting if that could happen. Skedaddle makes sense give the Shaken marker on Law's unit. Another different choice for the CSA Fast Courier would have been use it and put a defend on Law to remove the Shaken marker as well as move the other unit on BRT. But let see how the next turn goes. Really good series.
I don't believe we could have used the Fast Courier to activate Law's Brigade because they already were activated in the turn, and the default action is either Minimum Movement or Fire Combat. So I think we were a bit stuck there. But Skedaddling off of Little Round Top was a bad move, I think. We could have easily sent Robertson's brigade into a retreat as well, opening the way for the Union to take the hill. We got lucky with the roll there, but I'm not sure it was a wise move. :)
@@ZillaBlitz Right in the Fast Courier, just looking for any edge for CSA. The Skedaddle from LRT is a tough call to your point, but it is keeping it interesting. Next turn some unit, CSA or USA, is going to need to stick it out up on LRT.
Barnes and Ayers are in Sykes V Corps, not Sickles III Corps. Is there a scenario rule that says only use the III Corps Command structure? If not then you should be using Sykes Command structure as well.
Barnes' OR reads that Sykes yielded Vincent's Brigade to Warren who had attempted to get help from both Meade and Sickles. Sickles, by this time, was far too engaged to send help. Sykes report says Sickles frantically tried to get V Corps to support HIM but they were called to the defense of LRT first. Vincent's arrival met the attack without much time to spare. But, technically yeah, Sykes V Corps should be the card used. A I recall, Wards Brigade took over for Geary very early in the morning (7ish) and were closer to the Peach Orchard by the time the attack started. Id have to look to be more accurate. Maybe Herm had a reason.. From Oliver Willcox Norton...The Attack and Defense of LRT...
Yeah, this music track has a section that's pretty loud, I can see what you mean. In case it helps, if you turn down the master volume while listening, the music fades out.
@ let me watch it again. At the point a double six was rolled, I belief a card could have been played to force a re-roll. I could have this totally wrong. I’ve backed the upcoming Chicamauga game and have also played purchased the 2nd Ed of this game. Can’t wait. The Black Swan system appears as super engaging. Thank you for creating these boot camp videos!
@ sorry yes. See my question in the part 2 video re the double six role at 19.43. Could the Army of Northern Virginia Vet card been played to force a re-roll?

Sounds like you've got a Hermann Luttmann April coming! I hope you enjoy both games. :)

Thank you so much for the kind words, they are greatly appreciated. :)
Thanks again, ZB! Another wonderful video!
My pleasure, Hermann. I hope to have the last part up in a few days. :)
Am a big Civil War buff . (I own 10 board games) Nice video. Very nice looking map
Nice! Do you have a favorite? And thanks!
Good to see a playthrough of an early scenario with a good understand of the rules and the subtly of tactics
Thanks so much. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it. :)
Great game play. Looking forward to the conclusion. The issue still seems very much in doubt!
Thanks, Cory! I'm very curious to see who pulls out the victory. It's all about this last hour. :)
Great play through ! Enjoying your narrative !! Thanks
Thanks, Mike! I'm curious to see who will pull out the victory. :)
Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing how this finishes.
Thanks Custard! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

Any chance you'd do a larger scenario? Would love to see longer series playing through this.

Yes, I've played through to the end now, and am editing the final video today. :)
Couldn't you have used the Veterans Confederate reroll card to reroll that brutal 66?
That card allows you to re-roll one of your own rolls but not that of an opponent.
Barnes and Ayers are in Sykes V Corps, not Sickles III Corps. Is there a scenario rule that says only use the III Corps Command structure? If not then you should be using Sykes Command structure as well.
Yes, for this scenario everything is considered to be under Sickles’ command.

Love the examples but can you turn down the music a bit hard to pay attention
Yeà just doing it now , Betty's ✍️👍🌿

At 19.43, could the Rebs have played the Army of Northern Virginia Veterans card to force a re-roll after the devastating double six role?
That card allows you to re-roll one of your own Fire or Assault rolls, but not one of your opponent's rolls, so the short answer is no. :)
@ ok thanks for that clarification. Need to get the game so I can familiarize myself with it.
Sure thing! It's a fantastic game. :)
On the 66 role, could you have used the hold card that orders a re-roll?
Sorry, but what point in the video is that?
